  • The Pettiest Grudge

    @Timmmmmmy and I have been friends for a long time, ever since our moms were pregnant with us.  Over the years, we have been a part of each other’s lives at various points.  Here’s us during 8th grade formal, for instance:

    Why yes, that tall guy was an 8th grader. No joke.

    What could possibly ever come between us?  Must be something really serious, right?  Perhaps a girl?  Well, before I tell you more about that, let me briefly tell you what brought this up.

    Yesterday evening, I was chatting with my mom about what I’ll be doing for Thanksgiving.  I told her I will most likely spend it at Timmy’s with his family since they normally celebrate the holiday whereas my family does not.  Hearing this, my mom remembered that I didn’t spend Thanksgiving at their place last year like I normally do.  Apparently, this was so unusual that Timmy’s mom called my mom worrying that Timmy and I were fighting.

    Hearing that made me laugh, mostly because it reminded me of the only time Timmy and I got into anything resembling a real fight.  I personally thought it was over the dumbest thing, but Timmy, to this day, still tries to justify his actions.  Perhaps you guys can be the judges and settle this once and for all for us!

    This incident took place during sophomore year of high school while we were eating at the cafeteria with friends.  We both went to different lines to get food.  I got my food first, so I went back and sat down at our table.  Timmy later came by and looked upset.  He sat off to the side away from me, which was confusing.  I tried to talk to him to see what was up, but he ignored me.

    Still unsure as to what was bothering him, I tried talking to Timmy the next day only to once again receive the silent treatment.  I didn’t find out what was the matter until after I heard it through a mutual friend.  Apparently, the reason why he was mad was because I took his seat at lunch, something that I honestly did not realize I did.

    Do you know how long Timmy continued to hold that grudge against me?  A few days?  A week?  A month?  Nope.  He ended up not speaking to me for a whole frickin’ school year!  So awkward.  Obviously we have made up since then, but we still argue in jest about who was more wrong in this situation.

    Now, let me ask you this:  If you were in Timmy’s shoes, would you have handled this situation any differently?  How long would you be mad at someone for taking your seat at a cafeteria?  Have you ever gotten into an unnecessary fight over something trivial?  Do you think Timmy should let me slap him for Slapsgiving?

    I know you want to say yes!

    UPDATE:  Here is Timmy’s version of the event.  Sounds plausible, but even he admits the year long silent treatment was too extreme…so I believe I win =)

    2ND UPDATE:  Here is @Cakalusa ‘s version of us.  Okay, he wins.

  • oh but where you seat define who you are in high school!!

    you dont mess with a guy’s (or a girl’s) seat!
    :P

  • Ha! I think you AND Marshall should get to slap Timmy! (I love that show! But, I wish Ted would hurry up! )

    I’m pretty laid-back about everything (and I get over things quickly) so it wouldn’t have bothered me if you sat in my seat. I would have teased you about it though.

    In all fairness to Timmy, maybe he’d had a really really really bad day. Otherwise I can’t imagine why he’d get mad at an adorable fellow like you!

    HUGS!

  • slap bet!

    yes, I think you should slap him ;D

  • Wow I can’t imagine how Timmmy would react if you slept with his significant other or something!  a whole school year does sound unreasonable amount of time to be mad over a table seat lol.  (sorry Timmy) =P

  • That is… incredibly unreasonable. Sheesh.

  • I love you guys.

  • i can’t wait till @Timmmmmmy blogs his side of the story =)

  • STUDS.

    I would have just asked you to move. I’m pretty vocal, but that seems like the more logical thing to do. Now, I’d have gotten ticked off if the person wouldn’t have moved, but otherwise, I see no need for holding a grudge or anything. I can’t say you should slap him though.

  • @prettykay04 - He was still sitting at the same table, just not next to me haha

    @AdamsWomanFell - He was too prideful then I say!

    @misajour - Oh man, Timmy’s gonna like that haha

    @JustPlainMorgie - I approve of your opinion!

    @Keeko1 - I think Timmy’s better now.  At least, I hope so =O

  • @Passionflwr86 - I KNOW RIGHT?

    @HeLLo_Bianca - Who do you love better?!

    @jacigurl88 - I really hope he does so you all can read his justification for this haha

    @ArmyWife4Life2007 - But slapping is the gift that keeps on giving!

  • That’s kind of weird, honestly.

  • @jacigurl88 - Right!? Lol

    Hmm… For some reason, a slapfest sounds fun. Haha. It will add to the silliness. =)

  • man… i’m guilty for being timmy. I lost a very good friend believing rumors about my own bestfriend at that time instead of talking to him about it.  Ben Pang. People said he was talking shit about me.  I grew up with him since elementary school.  He was the only HK guy, TALL too! in a class full of Koreans and a closet part Chinese…  He was there for me when I needed him and he had no qualms about feeding me because he knew I was hungry…

    Instead, I chose to ignore him for a whole semester… this caused him to leave the school.  I’ve been looking for him since Myspace/Friendster/hifive/xanga/and facebook… but to no luck.
    I wish I can find him and tell him what a dick I was.  At least you two eventually talked to each other… it has been 14 years since I have last seen my friend and I hope he is successful.

  • Yeah, I think he deserves a slapping. How hard is it to say, “Um…dude, that’s MY seat!” to a friend? :P

  • Wow, for a whole school year? LOL  Thanks for letting me know so I won’t try to steal @Timmmmmmy seat in the future haha.  I can’t really make a judgement call yet since I haven’t heard his side of the story.

  • @mycontinuity - I know, what weirdo! =)

    @oOo_itsJuJu - slapfest is fun!

    @BenelliMan - I’m sorry to hear.  Perhaps you will eventually find him again.  Are you sure you directly caused him to leave the school?

    @leaflesstree - For reals.  Even if he did and I said no, I don’t think he should have not talked to me for THAT long.

    @suefa_lee - Haha, fair enough.  I do want Timmy to tell his side so we can finally settle this!

  • Hmmmm, since Timmy was indeed a good friend, he simply bit his tongue, and gave you the silent treatment.  LOL!  But if he had NOT been a good friend, then he would have or should have grabbed you by the collar, and physically removed you from “his” seat.

    But maybe there was another issue which we don’t know about.  Perhaps it wasn’t just that you usurped Timmy’s seat, but you (unwittingly) did something to it.  Like what?  I dunno, perhaps something such as spilling milk, farting, or allowing your girlfriend’s perfumed bag (or other object, such as stuffed animal, textbook, or sweater) to “desecrate” the seat.  Or maybe it’s as innocent as, on that day, Timmy was supposed to be in “his” seat during lunch time, because he was meeting a hot senior girl.  Said senior girl then saw you, not Timmy, and walked away.

  • o_O That’s kinda intense silent treatment lol. Also, the tall guy from the first pic kinda looks like Marshall from HIMYM LOL. I don’t think I’d be mad at someone for taking my seat. And I haven’t gotten into any unnecessary fights, more like intense silent treatments lol. Former apt mates -__- No to Slapsgiving lol; too harsh :P But the last gif of Marshall and Barney LOL.

  • Over a lunch seat? LOL not a year definitely. Maybe 1/2 a minute.

  • Well, I think that’s just silly. Especially if it was the whole school that he spent avoiding trying to talk to you.

    I remember a time my brother seriously got mad at me because he didn’t believe “excursion” was a real word. He had a weird habit of just saying, “No.” multiple times when you try to prove him wrong (which most of the time I did). Stubbornness, I supposed.

  • LMAO Wow i’m sorry Alex but you clearly got hit big time with the geek stick in the 8th grade :P hehehe
    (not that i’m one to talk, at least you look all movie star now…i’m still in geek mode :S)

    As for your ‘fight’ well I suppose if Timmy was the Sheldon type then your affront of taking his seat would warrent such a long silent treatment….but if he even had a tiny bit more humanity and less Vulcan in him than Sheldon then a Year is crazy!!
    No Idea of the rules or social laws of school, but personally i doubt i’d have even noticed, since no cafeteria seat generally belongs to anyone…it’s public property surely?

    But if it had bothered him (whcih on the face of things it seems to have) then he should have said “Yo thats my seat” and you’d have moved right?
    Looks to me like we are missing part of the story, hat else is Timmy not telling you about the ‘Seat’ incident???

    And yes he should be allowed to slap you, but only if we all get to see the video ;)

  • Me: *drops change*

    Him: *picks up change*

    Me: Thanks.

    Him: *not giving it back*

    Me: Give it back!

    Him: *being an ass about it*

    Me: *clenches fist* *fisticuffs

    ****

    I think I’m with Timmy on this one. It’s not just a seat in the cafeteria. It’s a sign of status. Also, you probably accidentally cock blocked him, sitting in his part of the cafeteria.

  • DUDE, YOU STOLE A MAN’S SEAT. You should have been whipped.

  • hahah i remember when i was a freshmen in highschool, i sat down at a seat during lunch with a couple of friends. and these 2 seniors came up to us and stared down on us with mean looks. they told us we were sitting at their spot. lol i guess seats are important when you’re in highschool BUT yes! go ahead and slap him!

  • @Roadlesstaken - yes.  it was hard for him to fit in as is. i fucked up :(

  • on break will answer after i get home from work.

  • Alex, you’re a complete douche for taking his seat. Who do you think you are, Christopher Columbus? Taking someone else’s–we would have to assume–marked territory? Don’t even try and rebute this point. You KNEW it was Timmy’s seat, your friends knew it was his seat, yet you took it anyway. Clearly you’ve no regard for anybody else’s personal space or belongings. Next time, I’m going to walk into your house, use your restroom while you’re sleeping and take a huge dump and walk out.

  • Hahahahahaha I remember you guys telling me this story. Ridiculousssss. @Timmmmmmy is still my bestie though!

  • LOL! I thought it was going to be like you took the last piece of pie! Those are the kind of grudges that are the best to look back at.

  • Hmm. Seems like an innocent mistake to me. Someone takes my spot at the lunch table I choose a different chair. No biggie.

  • hahaha, you guys are too cute

  • DONT BE FOOLED PEOPLE!

  • Wow, that’s a long grudge to hold. I can understand him being upset… but maybe not for a whole school year =P!

  • LOL HAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHA This story is freaking hilarious. Were you sitting with someone he likes? HAHAHAHA

  • @rpghero27 - I like your possible version of the story. It’s like a tv show! *munches popcorn*

    @hilabpartnerxD - Whoa, my friend DOES remind me of Marshall now.  How did I not noticed that?

    @stupid_systemus - Haha well, if we are to believe his side of the story and I was taking his seat to possibly get close to a girl I liked, then I say he should have taken one for the team!

    @laytexduckie - lolwut?  Okay, I think yours is more trivial than mine was.

    @BFB1131 - It’s true, I went through some awful, awful phases during my younger years.  Yeah, let’s say he did say I took his seat and I didn’t move.  I still don’t think it justifies my treatment afterward.  The punishment did not fit the crime I say!

  • bahahahahaha…i dunno why, but this is funny. i remember you mentioned this grudge to me in your last post and now i know what it was about! since i don’t know timmy’s side of the story, i’d have to say that seemed a little drama-queenesque of him, but still made me laugh. xD the most i would have said would prolly be like ‘heyyyyy…” and then try to find another seat haha. but that’s just me.

    btw, cute 8th grade photo, hehe. i ended up not going to my 8th grade silver ball, which is like middle school prom or whatever. i wasn’t really allowed to go to school dances ’til 11th grade.

  • So I read both your guys’ sides and I think It’s just hilarious. Reminds me of middle school girls to be honest. However, I had this same issue one time. Only I ended up getting my nose broken! Lovely right? I didn’t even KNOW the guy. I guess I was in his lunch seat (^_^)

  • @ShimmerBodyCream - I like whips.

    @clubsmiley - Ah yes, I remember that being fairly common back in the day.  Our priorities back then!

  • @CaKaLusa - Y U NO EPROPS?!  The atrocity!

    @bittersweetromantic - haha yeah, a lot of people have heard bits and pieces of the story so I figured I’ll just lay it alll out

    @BaBiixJo - in your opinion what is worse: taking the last piece of pie or taking someone’s seat?

    @your_paper_heart - You sound like a reasonable person, unlike SOMEONE I know…=)

    @miss_dizzao - ^___^

  • hahaha… he’ll stop commenting on your blog for a year.  (except to respond to this entry).
    On a serious note, it’s great that you guys are still good friends for so long.

  • @Timmmmmmy - Let them be the judge.  THE TRUTH WILL SET US FREE

    @mizz_chan - Punishment don’t fit the crime!

    @Got_Claws - Nope!  At least not that I’m aware of.

    @wyrdkismet - His version of the story is now up!  Even he admits he held on the grudge for too long, which is the point I’m making right hurrre

    @MillySonka - Wait a minute, the guy punched you in the nose?!

  • @ElusiveWords - I wouldn’t put that pass him =P

  • @Roadlesstaken - Numerous times. I had a concussion and a broken nose because I “stole” his seat.

  • @MillySonka - The hell…did he get in trouble?

  • LOL so so funny… so did u just take his seat for the rest of the year?

  • @Roadlesstaken - Not really. He got kicked out of school for like, 10 days. We pressed charges, but they didn’t do anything. I didn’t go to the court case because I had school, and to be honest, I didn’t want to be anywhere near him.

  • Seats in high school are important. You took his seat for a girl he says. So he’s right lol. Although a year of not talking, that must have been some seat!

  • I told you not to let timmmmmmy get the best of you. It’s obvious hellobianca would rather make love to him than you. But I understand you, if I was a part of timmmmmmy’s life, I would be jealous too, the fucker gets all the girls. I wonder if shawn has more game than timmmmmmmy, interesting.

  • Hmmmmmm, I just read the correct version of this story!

    YOU treated poor Timmmmmmy like that because of a girl you were crushin’ on!
    Shame, shame!

    HA!

  • @charlesworth - Nah, I just sat wherever there was space. Like a normal person TIMMY!

    @CreativeUndertow - He has no evidence that I sat there because of a girl, so you can just throw that out haha

    @RulerofMasons - I have felt Shawn’s game, and it is overpowering.

    @AdamsWomanFell - Idk, Timmy sure added a lot of assumptions in his version of the story, including a suppose girl I wanted to sit next to.  Tis not true!

  • @Roadlesstaken - LOL it’s ok I told him you won to even it out.

  • Sorry Alex, you took his seat! But Timmy should’ve told you to get out of his seat, and not be mad at you for a whole school year! @stupid_systemus, hilarious comment! Haha!

  • With your tennis-playing skills, I’m sure you’d deliver quite the slap.

  • I am so disappoint.

  • Um, I think you were in the wrong. You should MAJOR apologize!

  • timmy overreacted.
    but it does speak volumes- he really is very close to you. you must mean a lot to him to have made him mad enough to avoid you for a whole schoolyear, especially over something rather trivial.

    it’s funny how we can overreact towards the people we’re passionate about. that’s how my parents are. :)

  • I think i would have gotten over it.. unless there is a valid reason(like wanting to sit next to a particular person, or being able to see all the windows and entrances) where you sit isn’t that big of a deal. i say you stop talking to him for a school year and see how he likes it.

    of course.. he gains points for the chuck testa reference.. on second thought.. i think he wins.

  • DUDE, I sit on the frickin’ floor at lunch. It’s how the gangsters do these days. But YES, i’d like to see a slapsgiving, be sure to make your brother record it while it happens.

  • Hey … if he can’t trust you with a seat, who knows what else you’d be taking from him.
    And I bet it’s against the Bro Code. =P

  • Big Bang Theory. Sheldon. No one takes Sheldon’s seat!

  • @misajour - hahaha!! oh that was mean…

  • lol.. this is incredible….

  • that’s just high school for you.  goes to prove all things related to immaturity.  nothing to be down about.  it’s just a phase of life.  quite common.  however, i’ve read tim’s blog and i’m beginning to doubt the validity of your story…

  • A whole year!! LMAO!

  • @fLiPgUy31O - ill undisapoint ya on NYE

    @randaness - yesss

    @iones_island - tytyty

    @pcketfulofsunshine - hes the brofer i never wanted!

    @kyalzinlay - So against Bro Code..

    @Cucumber_Melonhead - wrong me and i’ll hide in yo couch then scare the shit out of ya!

  • @Roadlesstaken - Lol I guess it would depend if you are going to share that pie or not!

  • Haha oh man!! What actually was wrong with Timmy?.. Well okay text me when will you slap him though. I’d love to be the witness xD.

  • I think you are wrong, but a whole year! really?! Now I don’t know who I should vote for, haha =P

  • @o3o_JennyBear_o3o - The perfect way to celebrate the holidays!

    @livexlovexlaughter - Even if I knowingly took his seat, I still say the punishment does not fit the crime!

    @Cestovatelka - Oh, you know it >:-]

    @fLiPgUy31O - Damn, you’re so disappointed you couldn’t even finished the rest of the word =O

    @randaness - I can apologize for my wrong since I can swallow my pride.  Let’s see if he can apologize for his wrong!

  • @pcketfulofsunshine - I didn’t think about it that way.  AWW, TIMMY CARES!

    @iones_island - That Chuck Testa reference was good…I’ll give him that.

    @eatandrant - Haha what, were there no table space?

    @kyalzinlay - I actually have the bro code book and I’m pretty sure there’s no seat issues in there…but I’ll double check.

    @Cucumber_Melonhead - Frickin’ Sheldonnnnn!

  • @morningmoka - incredibly ridiculous right?

    @rudyhou - It’s okay though, in both stories we both pointed out the year long silent treatment was too much, which is my main point all along.  So…I win!

    @AmeliaHart - I KNOW RIGHT??

    @fabolousclown - There shall be video evidence

    @nbmrockon - I’m willing to admit both of us were wrong, but he was wronger!

  • @Roadlesstaken - Yes I agree, that was alittle extreme.

  • You’re right… ok you have my vote! haha! But since you’re both wrong, you can’t do the slapsgiving! XD

  • I cannot believe you would stoop so low.  I am surprised he ever spoke to you again.

  • First of all, not talking to you for a whole school year over that is extreme. Second, he should have told you that he usually sits there. I’m wondering…so you guys don’t always have lunch together? I’m just curious that if you two knew each other for so long, then possibly you noticed that he always sits there during lunch time? Now, what if someone else took that seat, would he have acted the same way? Okay, I’m over-analyzing this, but anyways, what’s passed has passed. You just inspired me to write an entry about communication =).

  • haha – that’s silly (=
    but you should know better =P

  • U win!!! Timmy shouldn’t have held a grudge and not talk about it. I’m glad u guys r still bromancing… = )

  • Haven’t you heard Rebecca Black?

    Clearly which seat you take is a big deal.

  • Seat stealer!

  • LOL!  This story is hilarious!  Now I gotta go read his side of the story.  ;p

  • Hahahaha this is adorable.

  • This is old news now, but obviously unless his name was written on the chair, it was up for grabs.  So, you win.  You should have licked the chair to let it be known that he lost it.

  • @Ricardo98 - Gotta do what I gotta do!

    @K12N9 - It was the beginning of the school year, so I don’t think we had figured out specific seats yet.  He supposedly told me I was sitting in his seat, but I don’t recall.  Either way, my main point is that his year long silent treatment was unjustified!

    @babixling - I didn’t realize he would be sooooo sensitive, sheesh!

    @cognney - You always speak the truth =)

    @breaking_expectations - If only Rebecca Black could have sang that song back when I was in high school, then maybe I would have known!

  • Okay, now I’m going to read Timmy’s story and then Cakalusa’s version.

    … I’m back and you definitely forgot to mention some important little details that changed everything!

    I vote Timmy!

  • @oxyGENE_08 - Stealers gonna steal!

    @Thoughts_Of_P - @jeezshoua – Warning, his side of the story seems to have a lot of extra details that did not happen. Either way, he admits a year long silent treatment was too extreme, which is exactly my point…SO, I win! =)

    @ivarahBharavi - This is serious business!

    @TiredSoVeryTired - I don’t think I would ever want to lick the cafeteria chairs XP.  Not worth it!

  • @Roadlesstaken - It’s your words against him.. who to choose.. yiiikes!

  • @jeezshoua - It’s okay, my main argument is that ignoring me for a year is not a good way to handle the fact I took his seat at lunch.  Even he admits it was too much, so I think we know who wins here.

  • I love how much this relates to Big Bang Theory. I vote for FIVE SLAPS! Because seriously, a whole freaking year of not talking to you? He should get smacked in every direction: up, down, sideways, and all that jazz.

  • @CuaSo - Whoa, what a welcomed surprise to see you comment!  Please say this will become a regular occurrence again =D

  • Lol.  Over a seat?

  • @RestlessButterfly - ?  Who’s Benny?

    @JL789 - Yeah…sad, huh?

  • @Roadlesstaken - The guy in the pics you’ve posted – the guy from the last two pics on your post.

  • @Roadlesstaken - Yep, my niece call him Benny, so he’s Benny to us… ha ha

  • @Roadlesstaken - Unfortunately I cannot make any promises on that front but I appreciate the fact that you want me back at all :D

  • Is Timmy autistic? It sorts of sounds a little like it. If not, he was in the wrong.

  • @bombshell_couture - Nah, just a stubborn, stubborn man!

  • @Roadlesstaken - haha… just as i thought you would say.

  • Hahahaha this made me laugh (which I really needed to laugh today). Especially CakaLusa’s version. LOL. What a silly fight. Glad you made up though. If only fights between girls were this small (it’s always the end all be all with us it seems).

    how are you as of late alex?

  • @indiechaos - Oh same old.  I’m excited for next month: trip to Hawaii and big New Year’s Eve party at my place.  Woohoo!

  • THIS IS THE FUNNIEST ARGUMENT EVER. hahahha, and cakalusa’s version wins :P
