A BIG Recap of the BIG NY Xanga Meet
So, after all the planning and chatter about the Xanga meet in NY this past Saturday, did it actually ended up being a successful event?
Oh yeah, I’d say so!
Where should I begin? Let me start off with some quick facts:
*Hosts: Roadlesstaken (The Coordinator), lcrazyaznl (The Planner/Photographer), Trigger821 (The Point Man), and VaneDave (The Entertainer)
*Around 40 Xangans made at least an appearance over the course of the day
*Around half were out of towners (including me!), coming from places such as Canada, Boston, New Jersey, Maryland, California, and New Mexico
*The meet on Saturday started around 12pm and didn’t end until about 2am Sunday
*Most likely hundreds of pictures and videos taken throughout the entire time
*The hot weather, very large group, and me being sick were some big obstacles, but we were able to get through it
*Not everybody knew each other that well initially, but that definitely changed as the day went on
*Xangans sure love bromances!
*Yes, a lot of us were well aware the meet up had a lot of Asian people
General timeline:
*Friday night: Pre-NY meet up with some folks already in the city at Little Italy, Time Square, and St Marks
*Saturday 12pm: Everyone slowly but surely met up at Central Park near Columbus Circle. During this time, I shot clips for a future live XangaSecret video!
*2pm: Started getting too hot, so we took shelter at a nearby mall to cool off and grab (or stole in verified_but_still_denied and my case hehe) some food
*4pm: Went to a karaoke place where some fun singing and drinking were had!
*6pm: Watched VaneDave do an hour long stand up routine for us at Maui Tacos
*8pm: Hung out at Rockefeller Center, cooling/resting up in the Nintendo store
*10pm: Afterparty at Trigger821‘s friend’s apartment until 2am. Gonna be interesting to see what pictures/videos makes it out of that um, memorable eveningAlright, time for a picture tour! Exhausted from viewing this entry yet? I sure am! Don’t worry, I’m almost done. Here’s a video I made containing some random scenes from the day (FYI: if you’re sensitive to foul language there is some towards the end of the video. Just a heads up.):
Well, I think that more or less covers the major events from this huge meet. So many more little stories left to be told, but I’ll leave that for some other folks to tell. It was an awesome weekend and I’m so happy to meet up with everyone that came by. I will not forget this experience anytime soon. I hope everyone that went had a good time! Thanks everyone for making this meet so successful!

Man, some of my fave Xangans were there! This is amazing! If only NY weren’t so frickin’ far away. Why couldn’t it have been in… Vegas or… Phoenix?? Surely there are at least that many Xangans on the west coast! We have to do something like this soon!!

@nepenthium - We made it! Even though I was sick, tired, and feeling weak from my sickness I was able to last the day.
AWWWW, I as so sorry that I missed it! I had a minor emergency at the greenhouse on Sat,the mums were being burned by too much fertilizer in the system and we had to spend hours watering them quickly to leech it out. We saved the crop but I missed the meet.
The sadness I feel now is because of the high (way high) I felt from over the weekend when I was with you guys. …also, you forgot to mention how our group BLOCKED the entire sidewalk whenever we couldn’t figure out what to do (which happened a lot) and congregate in a 30+ people circle…
awesome pictures! I hope Xanga’s servers can handle the surge in traffic from all these posts.

As it turns out I don’t know (even on Xanga) 90% of the people that went to the NY meet, which is some comfort considering I couldn’t go even though I’m here. (I’m right here!) I shall have to make some serious rounds to catch up to the others should there be another NY Xanga meet. But this looks like so much darn fun. AND I MISSED KARAOKE.

@squeakysoul - You know, there were many people that came that knew absolutely no one else going! They were all nervous as expected, but at the end of the day when I asked how things went they all enjoyed the get together. They now know a lot more people. Xanga meet = good networking/ice-breaking

would you say that the NY meet was the biggest, perhaps the most successful xanga meet youve ever attended?
