  • Please Grandma, No More! Seriously, I’m Good!

My grandma LOVES to knit.  If she isn’t cooking, you can bet she’s on her massage chair cranking out clothing up the wazoo.  I’ll give her credit; she certainly knows how to knit clothes well, but I’m not quite sure if she knows how to make them for a guy in my generation.

As it gets closer to winter, my grandma would constantly ask me if I want her to make me a sweater so I can stay warm.  I graciously say no, but come a week or two later she presents me with a brand new sweater anyway.  I smile and accept it of course (gotta be polite), but I’m just not sure I can um, do her outfit justice if I wore them in public.  Thus, I’ve never really worn her stuff anywhere that people can see me.

Perhaps I’m being a tad too harsh.  They aren’t too bad, but they don’t seem like they’re for me.  Here, I’ll let you be the judge.  I dug through my closest and found some of following items from Grandma’s Signature Collection.  What do you think?  Are they as bad as I think they are?

    1)

I told her I like blue, but I’m not sure this is what I had in mind.

    2)

Yes, this will totally intimidate all the guys in the room -_-

    3)

I think I should wait a few more decades before I can rock this (although it was surprisingly comfortable).

    4)

I wonder if Waldo would wear this if he had decided to go blue instead of red.

    5)

Very *breathes* tug *breathes* fit *breathes*

    6)

Actually, this didn’t look too bad compare to the previous ones I’ve tried on.  If only the arm length could have been a wee bit longer.

    7)

Not a bad scarf I suppose, but I wish she didn’t make it look so feminent.  Possible gift for a female friend?

    8)

I see what she was going for with this.  If only it wasn’t so cheesy XP

If, by the way, any of you are interested in getting your very own sweater/scarf/etc. specially made by my grandma just let me know!  I’m sure she’ll be happy to oblige, and I’ll be extremely happy to be off the hook for a while

  • Your grandma has excellent knitting skills! But I can see what you mean… don’t know if a guy your age would be able to pull off any of that out in public. Just wear them to family functions. =D

  • Your grandmother can definitely knit like nobody’s business. However, the concept of masculine patterns (if there exists such a thing in the knitting world) seems to be lost.

The scarf isn’t that bad, though. Might raise a few questions, but nothing like the yellow sweater vest.

  • THIS IS AWESOME. hahahah. my aunt LOVES knitting too, and she used to make me a lot of sweaters when i was a kid… not anymore. you should send these pictures to her so she’ll be happy to see them on you! hahah. at least she’s knows that v-necks are in!

  • 4-6 don’t look that bad. #3 you’ll have to wait until you have a comb over.

wowzers, your grandma has some KILLER knitting skills. they look store bought!

    awww, i want a scarf!

  • haha your grandma has dope knitting skills haha the only thing I’ve ever made are scarves hehe pretty easy ~ I think the black t-shirt has something to do with the way they look in the photos, it doesn’t really go with the softer colors.. they are nice though~  :)

try pairing it with some nice button up shirts like such:

    http://www.splendicity.com/sheknowsbest/files/2008/09/banana-republic-argyle-sweater.jpg

    http://www.made-in-china.com/image/4f0j00SvCQMLTgvapVM/Men-s-Sweater-Winter-Wear.jpg

they will give the sweaters some preppy feel I think~

if anything at least they’ll keep you nice and warm throughout the cold winter nights HHE

I generally don’t wear sweaters only coz I’m really round already..and the wool ads another 3 inches to me all around..hehhee…

  • Wow, really digging 4, 5, 8. Time to market to A & F.

  • #4 is really nice!

  • her knitting is amazing :O of course, its understandable that you might not want to wear them in public, because sweaters like that aren’t really popular among people in our generation. but i deff want that scarf!!!

  • Oh wow!! Those are pretty intense!  Awwww, that’s how my grandma is with making zhongzi! She’s a factory!

1–reminds me of a blue waffle cone :)
    5–isn’t all that bad

  • That reminds me of Harry Potter, lol…the endless lumpy sweaters XD

  • You better pray your grandma doesn’t have Xanga, Alex! ;p

But at least your grandma can knit. I can’t knit to save my life.

LOL @ number 2. You should get your grandma to knit maybe like a ski cap or some wool mittens or anything else that’s less obvious, but something you can still wear. :) That way everyone wins.

  • I want a beanie. I’m going to Portland in a month and a beanie would be perfect. What would one of your Grandma’s specialties go for? I’m thinking with a lighter colored shirt underneath, that yellow one would be perfect for Spring. They’re not all bad.

  • I would say from #3-#8 is not bad, but #3 and #4 can wait for a bit longer to wear since your not old! lol =D the hat and scarf are nice! I don’t see anything wrong with it! lol I would wear it =D maybe your just too picky about your clothes hehe =D

  • @fLiPgUy31O - Yeah, good idea.  I can probably do 4 or 6.  They aren’t too bad.

@skylar_rose - you’re right, it’s the patterns that throws me off.  Sometimes simple is better!

@LadyLuck7 - #3 was very comfy; maybe I’ll just wear that before I go to bed haha.

@d_ciao - I think I will wear one of those sweaters for her someday soon.  Maybe that will put a temporary stop to all the sweaters she would make for me =P

@luvs_u - I probably should have wore white instead.  Good suggestions!  I’ll try it out next time and perhaps I won’t be too embarrassed to wear at least one of those sweaters.

@Agent_Eric - Haha, can’t tell if you’re serious or not.  Although, upon second glance I see they aren’t tooo bad (at least compare to the first two).

  • i love number 4 and 5! aww what a nice grandma :)

  • 4,5,6 is good :]

#4 wear something darker outside it
    #5 is perfect as is
#6 rolls up the sleeve and it’s perfect

Your grandma has mad knitting skills yo. I wish I can knit those awesome cables stitches :o

  • Well, you can always give them to a clothing drive or something. 4, 5, 6 don’t look all that bad, but there seem to be some sizing issues.

    @phosphor_stars - Hahaha, me too!

  • @Roadlesstaken - I think you’d be able to rock #7 pretty well.

  • @nattata - That was one of the few normal ones I could maybe see wearing with the right mix.

@eomona - You can most certainly have it!  I tried to wear it once, but my close friends made fun of me -_-

@phosphor_stars - hahaha blue waffle cone.  You’re right!  Which one reminds you of Harry Potter?

@Southeast_Beauty - Shoot, I’ll be surprise if she even knows how to operate a computer =P .  Mitts though…good call.  Maybe that’s what I can ask her to make me next time.

@laurelitavera - haha yeah, some of those could be much worse.  I’m not sure how much they would go for, but name your price!

@BabyGurlDragon88 - Exactly, YOU would wear it haha.  The scarf is not badly design, just not very manly you know?

@omggsoozin - I wouldn’t mind 5 if it was just a tad bigger.  That thing was hugging me!

  • @nepenthium - Something darker outside #4?  Like what?  I have worn #6 with the sleeves rolled up.  It’s okay, although a tad itchy haha

@randaness - Yes I agree, especially with #5.  Maybe I’ll give it back to her to see if she can adjust it.

    @fLiPgUy31O - I’m not so sure about that…haha

  • @Roadlesstaken - just the general idea of how Mrs. Weasley always made them lumpy sweaters for Christmas.

Your facial expressions are pretty funny also. Esp with number 2, but I guess I would look like that too if I had to wear that one. (no offenses!)

@randaness - yay! HP FTW! :)   I can’t imagine wearing a sweater with a dragon knit into it.  Teehee.  I’m glad I don’t really receive anything like these each year. :D

  • haha I don’t think they are that bad ^^” you just have to wear them with confidence!
REAL men wear their grandmother’s knitted sweaters. Didn’t you know?!
My mother is a big sewer and knitter so when I was younger she made my clothes.
But at that time I didn’t pick out my own outfits… so I didn’t know any better.
She liked the idea of mixing colors to make them more “unique”…
but in the end it just looked like the Crayola box threw up on my clothes.
    Those are good memories (=

  • @Roadlesstaken - a dark cardigan/coat outside it lol

  • @Roadlesstaken - or… ORRRRRRR it could make her want to knit you MORE sweaters after she sees you wearing one because, y’know, it looks so pretty on you :) MOOOAR!

  • $20? Can we make mine pink? I can paypal you, just pm me your paypal e-mail address.

  • @nice_girl589 - Real men wear their grandma’s sweaters eh?  I guess now I know!  Haha, I think a couple of them are doable.

@phosphor_stars - no love for #2 yet I see haha

@d_ciao - Oh gosh.  Hmm I’m gonna have to rethink this plan…

  • @laurelitavera - I actually don’t have a penpal account, are they easy to get?  And how serious are you about getting one made from my grandma?

  • whoa 4-6 is pretty alright..  just gotta get the fitting more precise and you’d be good to go..  imo, those 3 are the best looking..  perhaps next time, let her know what color you’d like before she makes ‘em for ya

damn good skills your grandmother has

  • Dude, you rock…  so lucky… and the blue one is not that bad, if you’re going to a college interview.. haha..

  • @Roadlesstaken - really? really really? your grandmother should make money off knitting.

  • @Roadlesstaken - Super serious. Go to http://www.paypal.com in order to sign up. Easypeasy. My Lita made baby blankets for all the grandchildren. They’re precious. Maybe you could get her to work on those for you. I don’t have any kids yet, but I have an entire set already.

  • that grey sweater looks awesome! You should definitely wear that one out and take a picture for your grandma!

  • @Roadlesstaken - lol, maybe it’d be an upgrade for Dobby (another Harry Potter thing, if you read those/watched the movies?)…

  • lol i could use a pair of knit thongs

  • Haha. I would wear that scarf! My mum’s uncle used to always give me velvet zip-up sweatshirts with bedazzled jewels on them for Christmas. While it was so nice that he would go out and buy me a gift, they weren’t really “my style.” I was always afraid as I accepted the gift someone would be able to tell that I wasn’t quite as excited about the hoodie as I was expressing vocally, I think it was okay though. I have to admit, #3, the cardigan, was probably a bit much.

  • wow your grandma got skills!!!!!!! lol

  • the beanie is cool, can i get one? =)

  • omg. i want some gloves! :D green ones. lol. your grandma has great knitting skills

  • I like #5 and 8.  LMFAO at #3….

  • Your grandma is awesome.  Maybe you bring her some catalogs of stuff you like.  #3 looks pretty good.  #6 – for your brother?

  • OMG WOW YOUR GRANDMA SO GOOD AT KNITTING STUFF

SOME OF THEM HAVE NICE PATTERNS – maybe its the colours

    I like the 4 5 6 & 8

  • aww your grandma is so sweet to knit you things ^ ^ but should know the limit lolz .
mine used to over-knit is well and force me to wear the stuff to school T ^ T !

    uhm . . . those aren’t too bad! let’s see
    #4,#5,#6 are quite good and #8 is adorable n _ n heh !

o _ O ask if she can knit toys lolz !

  • ahaha. my grandmas send food, cards, money, and prayer books.

  • can i have number 4 and the scarf? lol

  • wow she’s AMAZING
my stuff doesnt come out as half as good!
i would wear #4 and #7 hands down

  • wow, your grandma is good! i have a partially finished scarf somewhere, but i don’t think it’ll be finished any time soon as i started that scarf in hs, worked on it freshman year of college and then haven’t touched it since.

  • They look amazing!

  • your grandma can make some nice stuff.that cap in the #8 picture makes you look like a badass (in a good way) ;)

  • @Roadlesstaken - its okay lol you can hide the little drapes inside the jacket so no one can see it hehe =D I would take the scarf and hat! =D

  • hahaha your grandma is similar to mine expect she always makes me clothes instead of knitting. It’s so annoying and im like ugh I won’t wear it..and i feel bad =( It’s just how they show that they love us lol

  • Awww, these are really cute! My grandmother has knit me cute hats and socks, but it looks like yours has got some mad skillzzz and time. :)

  • The yellow sweater vest is the best out of the bunch. It’s epic. Pair that up with the white scarf and toque and you’ll be a fashion icon.

But seriously, your grandma’s knitting skills are awesome. The sweaters look so comfortable!

  • your grandma is awesome at this. i really like the sweaters from 3 and on; plus the hats and scarfs. i say; wear them! they are not so bad. the farthest i have ever gotten with knitting is making a scarf and i never ever finished it, lol. =T

  • Those are hella sexy

  • Your grandmother has the potential to improve her masculine design. Help her out, so she can understand your style better. your grandma never got you a black one. haha. go print an image of guess vest and ask her to make something similar for you to wear. haha.

  • I really really really love that scarf.

  • Wow. your grandma can sure knit! She sews better for women, though… and I agree about that one and the sleeves. Not too bad :) The yellow vest, though… NO. At least, for someone who isn’t a girl.

  • number 4 isn’t so bad.  maybe if it was gray and blue.  or some other darker color paired with the blue.  you should ask her to make you another one like that :D   she does have some mad skills fo sho.

  • Alex are you serious???  These are great!  I’ve knitted some scarves before and believe me they take a bit of time to do if they’re just not plain one style straight down.  These look amazing!

The only thing I would say was the sleeves length but you’ve already said that.  I think they look great!

  • #5 really wasnt that bad. i think it looked nice. I WANT THAT SCARF!! its so cute! :D

  • wow..i want a grandma like that..that’s awesome!!

  • 4,5,6 aren’t bad acutally I thought I was going to see a giant poodle or something like that haha. Picture five looks the best…i’d wear number one…

  • I like the scarf.

I’m not a big fan on knitted stuff though…lol

  • You’re right! She’s amazing but not right for you. I’ll take that gray sweater off your hands for you. =]

  • wow your grandma’s got skills.

I like the scarf and the hat! i like the sweaters just fine, but i mean, it’s your call too.

  • These are awesome!  Maybe she can knit me a pink scarf :)

  • i totally want the button up cardigan. total indie rcoker.

  • Epic!  Now that you blogged these, they will sell for hundreds on ebay!

    Great title!!!

  • That’s adorable that your grandma loves to knit :)   The scarf is pretty cool, but it is a bit too girly for you.  The gray cable knit lookin’ sweater isn’t too bad for a girl :)     I love the look on your face in the scarf pic.  too funny!  I’m kinda diggin’ Mr. Rogers’ cardigan in #3

  • Ah I always wished I could knit!! she is amazing! they are all so nice, but of course they don’t suit you at all haha I think the hat and scarf somewhat do :)

Oh and about the division 1, it’s not that I’m not at the level because normally I’m just as good or even better than some girls on those teams but the schools have strict rules and I broke a few of them throughout the years so it’s impossible to go on a D1 team. So I’m hoping for a division 2, doesn’t really matter as long as I get the tuition paid for :)

  • shes good.    really good…

no one likes no.3? yeesh. i’ll wear it. but you can so totally rock it! just… put more effort >:o !!

  • They look well made…you should take all the sweaters in these pictures and explain to her what pieces you like from each and see if she could make you a sweater that is a combination of them all.  Maybe then, you’ll have something that fit’s right.  I like #3, I think it’s the color.

  • lol some of them aren’t that bad.

  • 4567 are pretty cool :)

i use to knit too but i neva finish anything i started :(

  • @laurelitavera - I will get back to you very soon about this .  Expect a PM sometime tomorrow or Wednesday.

@utoppia - Maybe after she makes it a little looser for me because that thing was tight!

@phosphor_stars - I do watch it, but I need to be refresh on those more specific details

@RonnyV - those would most certainly be scratchy.  Aiya…

@TheRiverIsEverywhere - What, you don’t think I can rock the old man look??  =P

@nomilktoday - She does.  I just need to help her channel those skills to make decent looking clothing for me =D

@n_breezy - Depends, what you offering?

  • deeng your grandma has skills.

  • @subaru3169 - You really like 3 huh?  It’s not exactly my style, but it sure did feel comfy

@SuperRat - Hmm perhaps so.  The blue one is my favorite of the bunch so far.

@JessxMaxine - let me guess, green’s your favorite color?

@Femme003 - You don’t think the “honor” lettering looks funny?  I think it’s the font/color

@ElusiveWords - It’s probably a bit too big for him.  Don’t worry though, he got his own fair share of clothes made by my grandma haha

@phuck_diz_shiz - They do got nice patterns, but I think those patterns would be more flattering on girls than guys.

@hoshiko_rainboww - haha knit toys??  Like what?

  • @elelkewljay - mine sends food, clothing and money.  I like the money =D

@jeannie_dot_com - what do I get in return?

@mi1kandcerea1 - Yeah, that scarf would look nice on a girl I say.

@wyrdkismet - ah I see.  How long does it take you to make a full scarf if you did it all at one time?

@inaean - Yeah?  Probably better on girls than guys though.

@applebottomjeans08 - Really?  I feel like I look ready to load up some cargo onto a boat or something haha

@aliceandrandy - So wait, your grandma makes you clothes but doesn’t knit?  How does she make the clothes then?

  • @noodley - haha thanks.  I never really noticed how skilled she really was until after reading all these comments.  Interesting.

@CuaSo - Oh I’ll admit they’re comfy alright.  I just need to modify the look to make it more my style

@SWEETxN0VEMBER - I think I will start wearing some of them, at the very least that last blue one.  They aren’t half bad, just needs some adjustments.

@Manstration - Will I bring all the ladies to the yard?

@falconfraudless - …you’re so right!  I should try doing that, find a picture of a good looking sweater and have her attempt to duplicate it.  Hmmmm….

@yankeesrock92715 - My grandma makes those type of scarves all the time for my mom

@vaguely_nameless - Would even a girl wear that yellow vest?

  • #4 looks pretty good, but I don’t know how comforting that is coming from a girl =) If she insists on knitting you something though, perhaps you can show her a picture of what you would wear?

  • WOW! They actually look nice… Like it’s not all super bulky. I got some OUTRAGEOUS colors and bulky sweaters. I think I might be a wee bit jealous.

  • @B1ANCACACA - You’re on to something.  I’ll see what I can do!

@tigerdauphin - Well, next time you come visit me I’ll let my grandma know to make you something special, alright?

@CatherineMarshmallow - Yeah?  Do you think those patterns are good for a guy?

    @Just_another_life_of_a_girl - becareful what you wish for…haha

@Cookstergirl88 - Yeah, I can see girls wearing #1.  My mom has a version of that my grandma made for her too haha.

@Lost_Innocence09 - Me neither, but oh I’ll try to see if I can make it somewhat my style.

@Meowmeowkimmaee - Haha alright, maybe I’ll bring it out to NorCal when I visit then.

  • @MariaBoscardin - so you think ALL those sweaters look fine on me?  Honestly?

@strawberries_and_honey - she totally would.  When you come to MD she will certainly make one for you!  Probably gonna need it too since it’ll be cold here.

@makethemakersmile - haha I can see how that would work out.

@CareyGLY - Was this post what you expected after seeing that title?

@everchanginglife09 - I actually kinda dig it too!  but man, it’s totally not my normal style.

@missedout_onlife - Ahhh gotcha.  Any particular state you’re looking to go to school at?

@LilyTheBunny - you know, I think I may just try it!  What would look good with that?

@LADYLILYTHAO - Good call.  Now, the only question is would she actually listen to me or stubbornly continue her ways haha.

@Dylan_Disast3r - which is your faves?

    @s_h_a_sha - Stop slacking!!  j/k

  • @Yuzuaneemo - I wonder if those skills will pass onto me when I’m older =P

    @xiaosnowtenshi - I think that’s exactly what I’m gonna do next time.  I can’t believe I haven’t thought of that before!

@PineappleLurve - Want my grandma to make you something?  I can deliver to you at work!

  • @Roadlesstaken - Maybe you just need fifty or so years to grow into it?  :)

  • they actually look pretty good. for the sweaters, try wearing a dress shirt (or anything with a collar) underneath, have the collar stick out and fit the V-neck and it’ll look pretty nice (:

  • @Roadlesstaken - boo always mean to me! >.<

  • Aww you’re a sweatheart!

  • @TheRiverIsEverywhere - I think I will attempt to make it work!  Just need to figure out something good to wear under it.

@AzureRecollections - Sounds like a plan.  I’ll try that later and see if I’m more satisfied with that look

    @s_h_a_sha - Feel special =D

  • I REALLY LIKE NUMBER 3.
    rock it in a few years… pfffftt… I rock it everyday : (

  • I agree 4,5,6 isnt that bad. Though 4 doesn’t seem very ‘you’ if you know what i mean lol

  • Just after I saw the first hilarious photo!

  • @jeannie_dot_com - can you give me a million bucks, the ability to teleport, and the love of my life?

@Dobserver - I certainly know what you mean haha.

@CITYG1RL - You don’t think I can rock it now?

  • 1. two psychics have told me that i will be rich and i will marry a rich person. so if we get married we can get rich together.
    2. damn, i’ll start working on that tomorrow.
    3. the love of your life? boy, IM ALREADYHERE!! lol

  • Just be happy she didn’t knit you a sweater with roses.

  • Your gramma is a BEAST! some of those are pretty snazzy!

  • Can she make me one of these?

  • @jeannie_dot_com - Rich together eh?  You know I’m all about that!  Yay for being superficial!  =P

@reckless_eagle - Actually, now that I think about it I think she has knitted me sweaters with roses as the design!  Good thing I didn’t find that in my closet

@secade - Oh yeah?  which one did you dig the best?

  • @mycontinuity - oh cool!  I never seen her make one, but they look doable.  what’s inside them?

  • I think it’s just stuffing.

  • Or you can just wear it when she’s around…and take it off in the car when you leave.

  • A few of your grandma’s work are nice and very detailed oriented! All you need is to show her a photo of your desired style…..LOL

  • we can be the innocent asian bonnie and clyde.

  • @lilvietchik2003 - I think I’ll wear that 3rd outfit as part of my sleeping outfit when it gets colder

    @CurryPuffy - Yes, I shall.  I can’t believe I didn’t think of that before this post!

@jeannie_dot_com - How innocent are we, really?  I’m a bad man.

  • They are hand knit? They look store bought to me!

  • @Roadlesstaken - do you have some secret gangsta life i dont know about? its cool if you do. imma nerdy innocent asian girl by day and a street pharmacist by night. dont tell anyone though.

  • aw, that’s so cute!
I really like 4 though, I just think the colors are a little feminine.
If it were dark blue and gray, it would look really good.

  • It’s really nice… =) can u help me to ask your grandma if she could make one for me … haahhaha =)

  • I like the gray sweater.  I can has?

  • I wouldn’t too excited about sweater, I am more of a sweatshirt guy. However your grandma is really good, some of those look like department store quality, I mean it. I think your grandma go to department store and checking out what model is out there. Two thumbs up for her.

  • OHMYGOODNESS

I LOVE THEM ALL!!! and i’m not joking.  hahahah!!

    <3<3<3<3  so pretty!!!

  • aww, your grandma has some insane knitting skills! i think the sweaters are cute… if they were for a girl. i’m just saying. she’s a sweetheart for trying anyway. :) just wear them when she is around and that will make her happy.

  • OH NO!!! I didn’t mean it like that : (
I was upset that you said you were going to wear that cardigan a few decades from now, and then I felt like a nerd for wearing them now… >_<
Cardigans are meant to be rocked all the time! haha
anyways, I love what your grandma does.  I hope to do that to my grandson one day muhahahaha!

  • Haha, like your pout in 1. I do truly love 5, actually. Tone down so you can wear it whilst breathing!! I also love knitting myself! ;) I’m basically a grandma, I suppose.

  • i like the waldo one. haha

  • they look warm. should cut them up and sew them together to make an ultra blanket

  • wow! a perfect advertisement of your granny! lol! hm, i must admit she is good in knitting, very good actually (i just have something to compare. my mother also tried this thing. lol!). after such an advertisement your grandmother will definitely find a lot of clients! all the best!!!

  • I like the vest! It’s a great vest! Very preppy. Pair it with a collared white shirt and you’re set *grin*

  • hahah what a collection! lol. hey some of them don’t look too shabby. maybe wear one to make grandma happy at a family dinner?  :p

  • so sweet! erm, but can’t help but notice the differing lengths of the knits :X did you grow so much over the years? LOL.

  • … just send me that brown sweater (no 3) and the scarf. I live for those! XD

    No 4 looks really good.

  • i was gonna vote 2…but 1 is so classic!

  • @Roadlesstaken - well the scarf probably not cuz i have a scarf that looks just like it and im a girl. haha. but the sweater (5) actually looks nice for a guy. the patters arent like girly since its a solid darker color. looks warm and cozy for the winter. :)

  • @Roadlesstaken - 3 is definitely my favorite. Very nice looking indeed! You could rock that thing all winter long.

  • Next time you go out to a bar/club, wear #1 with #3 on top. Bad boys are so 90s, the ladies love mama’s (or grandma’s) boys now. You can thank me later.

  • You pout as we as sulk?  *(Refer to your 1st photo.)*

  • Your grandma is so sweet. =) She must be super good at knitting (or am I really bad at it? haha). I guess the scarf is ur favourite huh.

  • @Roadlesstaken - probably a couple of hours. it depends on how fast you knit and how many times you have to go back and redo the mistakes b.c you might skip a loop or something and have to take it out and reknit that part.

  • @karen0z - All hand knitted!  I’m not kidding when I say she spends A LOT of time knitting.

    @jeannie_dot_com - Not a gangsta life.  It’s worse.

@KimisBarbie - I think that’s what I will tell my grandma to do next time if she asks to make another sweater for me

@escapethefate09 - I could if you really really wanted me to

    @the_rocking_of_socks - you can has

@vsan79 - very good idea.  Hehe, I think I should take her out shopping with me and when I find a sweater I like I’ll tell her to duplicate it for me.  Yes!

@noree_n - haha seriously?  Any fave?

@h0peLeSs_RoMaNtiC - Her success rate with women sweaters are higher for sure.  I’m wearing #3 right now to stay warm this morning =D

@CITYG1RL - haha ahh gotcha.  Any advice on what to wear with it then?

    @PeaceSearcher - =D

  • @Shopgirl0393 - wouldn’t you pout if you wore that? haha

@xchinkylaydee - it’s okay, perhaps if the colors was a little different.

@sonychak - haha, you would suggest that

@wwwolfy - She makes baby clothes for a lot of our family friends =)

@veresi - Are you tricking me into wearing it out in public?  haha

    @Asianrockgurl - I’m wearing #3 right now

@tollyyjoy - that last blue one was a recent one she made.  She just miscalculated the arm length haha

@tequila_sky - I’ll see what I can do with #4.  If it was a different color I think I would like it more.

@shatterFocus - Classic what?  Classic baby clothes?  haha

  • @CatherineMarshmallow - Ah I see.  I may just give that back to her to adjust a little so it fits me better then.

    @secade - rocking it right now =)

@caihwei - You’re not sabotaging me with that advice, are you?  haha

@RestlessButterfly - Wouldn’t you pout if you wore that?

@darth_cosmos - haha it’s nicely made, but it’s just not made for me

  • aww… your grandmother is so sweet. Nice clothes. xDDD I want to learn how to knit so I can sell them!! puhahaha I like 6 and 5. I’d wear the others at home during winter xDD

  • LOL they’re not that bad! It’s actually pretty awesome! Except for #3 LOL. maybe it is not really masculine but haha i wouldnt mind having your grandma knit me some :D LOL.

  • Your grandmother is sweet.  There are some charities that accept knit items for shipping off to Afghanistan.  Maybe you can pack them up.

Another thing, have you considered showing her some pictures of some sweaters you would like to have and she can work on those for you?  Maybe a really heavy cable knit crew neck?  That would flatter you, esp in a dark navy blue.

  • nice blog, thanks for posting

  • @blubunni326 - Those are hot.  I think girl wearing sweaterdresses will catch my eyes.

    @Sabina_Smith - no problemo

@christao408 - Yeah, I think that will be my next step.  I need to harness my grandma’s abilities haha

    @UnopenedSuitcases - It’s definitely comfy though!

@Got_Takoyaki - Yeah, once I get her to readjust 5 and 6 I could wear them better.

  • Well. It’s really not that bad, bud. Open your mind to new things! :P Do you realize how many hours of complicated work those cables and such require?! You should wear it based purely off sentimentality’s sake, for your dear grandmother. Mm, perhaps just the next time you see her in particular! ;D

  • Judging from the progression of sweaters, your Grandma’s trying really hard to make something you would like!  I bet you’ll appreciate #3, #5 & #6 when you’re older (say late 30s?).

  • worse? …if youre an ax murderer than why didnt you just say so? i wouldve been your accomplice.

  • @crazygrampastuey - I’m actually already appreciated those last two; just need to get the fitting a bit better

@jeannie_dot_com - Not an ax murderer…come on now, axes are barbaric!  There’s easier, cleaner methods.

  • poison? chemicals? strangler!!!!

  • Trust me, those styles will eventually come back in style! Just you wait.
Why don`t you shop around and take a photo of those knitted stuff you like that is in style and show it to grandma? I bet with her skill, she can easily make those you like!
My cousin asks my aunt to tag along while shopping and she will make her a dress exactly like what she saw at the stores only better because it is tailored to her size!

  • OMG! Your grandma could make me the white scarf! Awwww! I so want one. BTW, i noticed that you’re sticking your tongue out. LOL

  • @Roadlesstaken - you’ve got me there…… hahahahahahah

  • Aw…hahah…you looked so adorable!

  • I would kill to be able to knit like that! Your grandma has serious skillz.

  • Okay, those sweaters may not suit you, per se… but I gotta say, your grandma has skills. My late ama used to knit socks for my brothers and I.

  • Wow her knitting skills are amazing!  They all look like they were made for an older woman though ha, just wear them around the house when it’s cold(given they are comfy).  I have a sweater that is made out of some special wool, it is the most comfortable and warm thing ever and I practically wear it in my house every day in the winter, but man I would never be caught dead in it in public it’s hideous and looks like it is for a 90 year old woman lol.  Does she bother you about not wearing them?  If she doesn’t just let her keep making them for you, probably makes her feel good and gives her something to do.  My Aunt buys me a purse every year for christmas, not a nice one but like one a 5 year old would play with with dress up, really horrible, every year I open it with my immediate family when she’s not there and we all say “surprise a purse” lol, but she loves to get me them so I just put em in my closet haha.

  • snap those are really good

    loving 4,5, and 6!

  • OMG, thats really nice~! Its preppy. shes talented….it took me a week to knit a scrap,

  • @jeannie_dot_com - Well, depends on the circumstances and how quick I need to do it.  You man enough to be my accomplice?

@ZenPaper - I think that’s exactly what I’m gonna do next time!  If she can actually duplicate the good stuff I’m set!

@jesuismir - haha yup, I’m pretty much making faces in every one of the pictures, for good reason.

    @Wangium - haha, thanks?

  • @wcpianofreak - Thanks, maybe I can donate one of those to you!  Ahh long time no seen you comment on my page Winston.

@retarded_beautiful - Very preppy, a tad too much for my current style…at least for now.

@Carolina17 - I definitely didn’t realize how good she was until reading all these comments about her skill.  I shouldn’t be so harsh on her =P

@ladyofthesilk - Do you wear them often?  Hmm, I wonder if I should see if my grandma can make me socks too.  Those can’t be too hard right?

@Drugsy - Hmm I’m not sure if she gets mad, but she has probably been annoyed when I don’t wear her stuff.  I’m starting to again now to make her happy

  • I don’ t really comment that much but those sweaters are awesome! oh but I’ve been reading all your xanga entries thoughh

Hope you’ve been doing good! Its crazy how you were my tennis camp counselor all those years ago and now you’re all grown up graduated working and becoming a popular xanga-er!

  • @wcpianofreak - haha that’s good to hear.  It’s been quite some time since then eh?  Aren’t you now in college?

  • Well, I wear mine with leggings… I’m sure you can totally do the same too! hahahaha
but I don’t know…. jeans and a tee underneath is actually really nice with cardis

  • @Roadlesstaken - haha yeahh its been a long time. Yup! It’s my freshman year

  • scarves! gloves! ebay!

  • Dang…your gma is talented!  Send all the girly stuff my way. ;)

  • @JL789 - oh boy, that would be A LOT of stuff.

  • @Roadlesstaken - I think I’ll grinning like an idiot or probably giggling nonstop.

  • Wow, your grandmother is quite skilled at knitting. My sisters learned how to knit blankets, scarves, hats and booties, but thats it-and that was complicated enough. You could wear them, at least, when you see her, maybe….?

  • hey now, i like the beanie and the scarf!

  • @escaping_logic - *gasp* Linda, is this your new Xanga?

@tenshii_rage - I’m attempting to wear her stuff more, at least around her

  • @Roadlesstaken - why hello, Alex how are you? and yes. =)

  • Yeah…I don’t think those are very you. But I like the scarf. :)

Your grandma’s got some awesome knitting skills there. Mine sewed all my clothes for awhile when I was a baby. But they…actually were fashionably acceptable. Even for a baby who doesn’t even know what fashion is yet. xD

  • Ahahah i think the vest would be okay paired with a collared shirt…. But then…. coming from a gay kid, maybe you shouldn’t listen to my advice. Also I itch uncontrollably but otherwise I would take up on your grandma’s offer if I had money LOOLLOL.. Also for the arm-length-is-a-bit-short one, I’d just roll up the sleeves up to your elbow and you’re good. Except when it’s cold. Hahaha..

I have to say.. I can’t but uncontrollably laugh and think of Mrs. Weasley’s Christmas sweaters. Is it terrible that I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw the title as well? xD

  • @escaping_logic - Awesome

@Rhia_Pyrithea - Oh I believe you.  My grandma often has a distorted vision of what style is in haha.

@snapeful - Some one else mentioned that it reminded them of Mrs. Weasley!  You nerds…j/k .  And yes, it’s okay to laugh.  I say that all the time to her over food as well.

  • @Roadlesstaken – REALLY? Yes there is more than one HP freak out there.. And the proper term is geeks, okay, I dont make love to my book when I’m studying thanks. And LOL.. I meant.. actually nah, the real reason why I’m laughing would have you vomit over your floor. Let’s just say I look at stuff with a pervy eye (thanks to my wallpaper of Sayaka Ando….).

  • @snapeful - GREEEEAT, now I’m thinking about all the other nasty ways you could have interpreted that title XP

  • @Roadlesstaken – Just one!! Sheesh, you’re the one in grad schoo you should be used to these things.

  • @snapeful - Used to dirty grandma innuendos???  What type of school do you think I go to?  haha

  • I like the second and 4th one. I think you could be able to do something with those. Well, the 4th one would look better if it was a darker blue. Anf id you don’t like them, hell I’ll take it lol. I love sewing and I want to learn to knit also ^_^

  • @Roadlesstaken – dirty innuendos in general! that’s what she said jokes! ROFL

  • Man, i was feeling a little down and when i ran across these pictures i just kept laughing. the sweaters are so cuuute and the yellow vest thing is hilarioussssss and cute at the same time. I do like the grey sweater, if only it fit a little looser for you ?

  • @RaquelHiggins005 - I think you’re the only person that likes the yellow vest thing haha

@M1SS_1NNOCENT - Yeah, it was way too snugged for me.  I’m gonna see if she can maybe expand it.

Why are you feeling down btw?

  • Your grandma got mad skills! I used to knit a lot, mostly scarfs for friends.
Number 8 the beanie looks good on you.
Hmm looks like a lot of people signed up already..any chance your grandma can knit something for me?
I probably need some warm stuff since I’m going to be in DC from Jan-March.
Being a CA-ian, hope I will enjoy the cold weather!

  • @Shades_of_Athena - Oh cool, you’ll be right near me when you go to DC!  Why you heading over there?

  • The last two sweaters weren’t too bad.  They’re all made very well though.  Keepsakes! lol

  • @Roadlesstaken - Oh yeah you are in Maryland! awesome sauce. :) My school system has a program in DC that is a academic research thing and internship thing. I am trying to find an internship with a government agency right now.

  • @SarahLynn_violin - Yeah, gotta give my grandma credit for making well made sweater, even if they’re not so flattering on me haha

@Shades_of_Athena - ah coolness.  If you need someone to show you around in the future let me know

  • number 6 is nice =)  …maybe if you were wearing something other than the black T underneath the sweaters, it’d be different??? BUT I’m sure you have already done so.  you look like one of my guyfriends in that last picture…

  • I love your grandma!  And I like # 5 the best.

  • @HeartLUST - oh really?  Do you have that picture online for me to compare to?

@UnpredictableIdentity - A lot of people seem to dig it.  I guess I should see if I can get her to make it bigger so it fits me better.

  • Your grandma is so pro!

  • @sageng - I guess she’s alright

  • you’re grandma has mad skills in the knitting department!?!  I wish i could knit like her, she’s my hero!

I’m sure you can rock all those outfits out when you age comes along, if you get my drift#’s 3 and down aren’t too bad, i especially like number 3

  • @xxLilPauliexx - Now, what would be a good shirt to wear under that?

  • @Roadlesstaken - hm i asked for my brothers advice and he said a nice solid plain colored tee, umm maybe white?  do it!

  • @Roadlesstaken -  that would be nice. Happy Halloween!!

  • ur grandma’s knitting skills rock! i wish i knew how to knit too. 4 5 6 were pretty well done. tell her you want the ones u liked, in perfect fitting. I’m sure she’ll love to knit you new ones that you’ll love.

  • @GaMeGurLsH - Yup I did recently, and now she’s currently fixing up the blue one that I didn’t think was so bad

  • I would wear some of those, but I’m a girl and about 10 years older than you, I’d assume.  What I love about this post…you didn’t show your face in almost all the pictures, as if you could deny it was you later or something.

  • aaww… i think knit sweaters by grandma look totally adorable…

  • w0w your gramma has amazing skill! i can barely knit a scarf…. sadly, i doubt your gramma wants to ship stuff to Canada *L0L*  if your gramma is going to make you things whether you want them or not, find sweater patterns that you would wear and grab paint chips in colours that you like and give them to her the next time she asks… along with your sizing so whatever she makes wont be too small.

    1) perfect for when your girlfriend gets cold while hanging out at your house

    2) wear it over a dress shirt to a family wedding

    3) reminds me of “college preppy”, you can pull that off with a bit of confidence

    4) i like it, see (1) or (3)

    5) with a dress shirt it would be perfect dressy-casual or great for the GF to “steal”

    6) push up the sleeves to 3/4 length and its fine

    7) yes, that would make a great gift for someone

    8) depending on how it is embroidered, it is possible that the “cheesiness” can be removed.

    SUMR

  • @KGTeriKat - not bad at all.  Just wish they looked more…masculine haha

@SUMRdaisy - Ahh, thanks for your suggestions!  I will definitely follow them.

  • Oddly enough, I actually like them lol, but for a girl I guess.

  • @AlterEgo909 - Even the first two??  I don’t think I’ll ever be able to work that yellow vest haha

  • I like the dark blue one that you said the arms weren’t long enough (true) the best.

But mr. hotpants looks nice in anything =]

  • @indiechaos - even that yellow vest??

  • i like 2 and 3 …. plus the beanie #8

    i like #5′s design!

    Your grandma gotz SKILLZ!!!!

  • @azndrlove - Thanks!  Yeah, I’ve certainly appreciated #5 more now after writing this entry.

  • @Roadlesstaken - I am glad to hear that…. you should start your own dance crew wearing those!  =p  I’d join!   ;)

  • Omg, your grandma actually does really cute stuff! You should give her credit. I think you could totally pull off the looks w/ the right jeans, shoes, etc…, And I would totally take one of her scarves although I’m not sure it’d be possible. Gee, I have been so late w/ responding to you, pandabear. & I haven’t even been checking your blog lately. :/ Shame on me!

  • @HelloKitty0809 - yes, you haven’t been around lately!  Don’t stay far away too long.  I’ll get back to your email sometime soon btw!

  • HAhahahhhaaaa I made my grandma stop making me sweaters when I was like 7. Aww gotta love ‘em for the effort. So funny I was laughing out loud. :D

  • i think you should advice your grandma on your sleeve length and you might be fine with everything. :D

  • @Un_filtered - If I could stop her I would, but there’s no stopping her knitting rampage!

@PiscesPhishie - she fixed it up yesterday, so now it’s all good!

  • 2,3,5, and 6 are cute! Hipsters everywhere would definately rock these.

  • @whitr - I wore #6 out in public for the first time and one of my customers complemented me on it!  =D

  • i honestly love some of those…   i wouldn’t wear it outside the house maybe, but i think they are cool to wear….

  • @maniacsicko - I’m starting to like a few of those items actually.  They’re growing on me =)

  • OMG. hahahahahha.

  • @mncjl - glad to see you back

  • I LOVE them. But then, I am a sweater person and you… don’t really look like one, haha. Though I think the button down one would look sweet on you when you’re older, like you said.

  • Hahaha!  I definitely have a closetful of very similar sweaters from my own grandmother.  Fortunately, she’s turned her attention to other victims for now, and just gives me money.

  • I like #5, lol…I don’t think it’s too bad.

  • Lol the one with a v neck seem so back in the old days kind of clothing but the scarf was nice..wouldn’t mind getting one of those..and they are girly. The gray sweater woulda looked great on you if it was slightly different like no v and maybe design different and of course not so tight. Lol. Your grams sure knows how to knit!

  • LMFAO. your grandma is amazing! 5 and 6 don’t look bad at all, honestly :)

  • @mncjl - why the change in the first place?

@AibellFaeire - some people said I could make it work now, but idk.  Not sure if I can pull that off just yet =P

@just_the_average_jane - My grandma knits all the time, so I’m always a victim along with everybody else haha.

@LauraG0929 - Yeah, I’m starting to appreciate her skills more, especially after this post.

  • @stardustskye - I wore 6 today, and actually got a compliment!  Hmm…

@QueenOfOreos - haha, yeah I’m gonna see if she can add more material to that gray one.  Then perhaps I can wear it

  • hahahahaha oh man, i laughed out loud. :D no but seriously, your grandmother is SERIOUSLY talented. she’s got some baller knitting skills. she can knit like it’s nobody’s business.
those sweaters and stuff are REALLY nice…. but too feminine for a guy, in my opinion.
damn, look at those patterns though. i wish i can do that haha. takes me days to knit just a teensy swatch. and that’s without any awesome patterns. haha. i wonder how long it takes your granny to knit a whole sweater. probably not very long.
    although, i haven’t knitted in years…hmm…

  • @bamzilicious26 - I’m not exactly sure how long it takes her to make a sweater, but I do know she’s constantly knitting…ALL the time.

  • #4 is really ok. You could wear that in public.

  • @suttone2 - I guess I’m just not used to wearing such a soft blue color =P

  • i love these so adorable :) <3

  • @Casa_blanca_lilies - apparently many people would agree with you haha

  • Seriously…your grandmother has talent. She should participate in knitting competitions around town if she hasn’t already. She could really earn some big bucks. :D

  • @Sheegwa - there are knitting competitions??

  • Nice sweaters better wear one of those for Thanksgiving or any other holiday you celebrate… i almost said christmas but idk if you celebrate christmas or not… :)

  • @x_sing_me_a_song_x - I do, just probably not as much as other people.  My family and I aren’t big holiday people for some reason

  • This was a great post! Hey at least your grandma makes you other things besides sweaters. My girlfriend (who, for a lack of a better word, sucks at making sweaters) LOVES making me sweaters…in all different kinds of colours. I had one that was a mix of red, blue, yellow, orange and pink…needless to say I brought it over to one of my friend’s place and had her cat have a go at it and blamed it on the cute cuddly kitten…haha.

  • @piggy054 - Oh man, so bad…but whatever works =P

  • This makes me want to knit.

All of them can look good with the right accessories.
I can’t help but laugh at your expressions.

  • @CutePaperHearts - hehe, you still noticed my expressions even though most of my face was hidden? =P

  • Awee thats cute, but those arent really that bad I’ve seen worse. I don’t know my grandparents. :/

  • @Princess_Lynda - Yeah they’re designed well I think.  They are just probably not the most…masculine designs though haha

  • They’re designed very well. My sister in law is very creative when it comes to making clothes as well. The style may not be very masculine to you, but I know some golfers that would were them. :)

But you know what would be very manly of you? Wearing at least one of those in public while with your Grandmother. I would give you so much respect for that, not to mention it would make her very happy. :)

  • @Princess_Lynda - I wear the blue one out now

  • there are 3 blue ones that I see, haha but much respect indeed.

I think thats very man of you to wear something that looks quite feminine, frankly because I see it as appreciating what your grandmother has made for you.
Even if you might not have liked it, it was the though of her wanting to keep you all cozy and warm.
It was very selfless of you, major props. * huggles
