  • Big Changes and Celebrations

Whew, almost missed writing in May!  It has been a busy past month and a half for me, and here are some of the reasons why:

    I Got a New Job!

As you can see, I basically transferred from my district position to a section position, where I’m now covering my home state of Maryland.  I really enjoyed working in Virginia, but it was hard for me to say no to this promotion and the fact that I can be closer to my family and girlfriend in MD.  This leads to the next thing that I’ve been dealing with…

I Moved, and Will Move Again Soon!

Here is me working at my new home office.  Catch the easter egg yet?  Wait for it…

So yes, I currently moved to a new place in Northern Virginia still, but I made sure it was a short lease since I anticipated I may get this new job and will want to move to MD.  I’m currently in the process of finding a place with my girlfriend (assuming it’s approved by her parents).  It’s a big step, but it makes sense too seeing as…

It is Now 2 Years with Cindy!

We officially met for the first time 2 years ago on May 19th, and in celebration I got her this simple but elegant sapphire and gold necklace for her to remember me by.

In case you’re wondering, there is no plans for anything more serious with her just yet.  It was recently a good time for one of my good friends, however…

Miami Bachelor Party and High School Buddy’s Wedding!

I went to Miami (first time) with 7 other guys late April.  It was very fun, but strangely there has not been any public pictures uploaded by any one of us.  I mean, all we did was go to the beach and eat (and that’s my official statement).

I have some photos and videos from the wedding though! The wedding was an exciting mixture of Catholic, Puerto Rican, and Hindu traditions (husband is Puerto Rican, wife is Indian).  My buddy’s entrance was quite a spectacle:

The first of one of my close friends to get married.  I feel happy, a little pressure, and a little older.  I have a feeling I will be attending many more weddings within the next few years.

With all that has been going on, I almost forgot…

May 5th Marks My 10th Year on Xanga!

That is really crazy and I believe this is the longest running social network I am a part of.  Blogging has always been a fun hobby of mine, and I hope I can remember to keep it up in some capacity for the future.

Enough about me, I really want to catch up with everyone else I’ve grown to know on here.  I have been badly behind on keeping up with people’s blogs and feel terrible about it.  What’s going on with you all?  Any big events recently?  Feel free to send me a link to any blogs you wrote that I should check out.  I really hope you all are doing well!  Time moves too fast, my friends, and I’m not sure I like it.

  • Looks like you’ve been having a lot of fun!  Congrats on the promotion!

  • can’t wait for the post of your own wedding =)i was hoping to read “Chan is a beloved xangan in the realm of xanga….”, but i was disappointed, as it goes on and on about tennis, without any mention of xanga…   haha

  • DAMN, WE OLD.

  • Congrats on the new job and reaching the next step in your relationship  I’ve also moved back to New Jersey and am in the process of applying to medical school — nothing too exciting just yet haha.

  • Congrats on your new job.  Sounds cool!  Yay for 2 years!  congrats!  Relationships are tough, but it looks like you got this far.We did a bachelor party too!  Was fun!Wow, 10 years.  We’ve been here a long time.  I think it’s been like 11 for me.  So long.Hopefully we get to meet up some time before Nan leaves DC area.  Though I assume you’ll be dropping by the West coast from time to time :)

  • badass and congrats on the relationship!

  • Time may be moving too fast but here’s to having some more awesome adventures! And being in a relationship can be so much fun so that’s really great =D

  • Nice to see you update! That said, yay for a happy post. I can see why you’ve been away from Xanga for so long and I’m glad things are going really well. I hope things continue to look up for you and every once in a while you come back to post. You should do a draw my life video!

  • @StupidSystemus - Thanks, how’s your job doing?  Is it looking like it will be permanent?  Are you going to be moving to NoVA soon?  @iones_island - twas fun, made me excited for my future wedding whenever that may be@SasGal - Thanks! Yes some fun, some frustrations, some work, but overall can’t complain too much@maniacsicko - Unfortunately, my Xanga credentials don’t exactly gets major appreciation in my job.@CaKaLusa - Are you sureeee you’re not secretly married with kids somewhere in NY?  You can tell me.

  • @buiptammy - What part of NJ?  I saw some pics of you traveling and it looks like you might have traveled abroad to work?  How was that?@davidmiya - Relationships take work and forgiveness. Sometimes we forget that (particularly certain females mhmm).  Yeah keep me posted when you’re in town and want to meet up.  I’m planning to move to Rockville/Gaithersburg area so I won’t be too far.  @Manbeast - Thank you man!  I will be visiting the Bay area again the first week of July btw. It’s a family trip, but maybe I can find time to meet up with folks. What you doing during that holiday week?@nov_way - Relationships are good to have, although it takes some work and patience haha.  How’s your love life?

  • @wyrdkismet - What’s a draw my life video?  Oh man, have I’ve been gone so long I lost touched?! @BenelliMan - Thank ya. When you moving to east coast btw?

  • @Roadlesstaken - I have yet to hear back from my recruiter if they’ll extend me for another six months or a year. I should hear something next month. After the extension, the parent company who hired me can decide to hire me full-time or not. Getting an apartment in NoVA area rides on my extension.

  • @StupidSystemus - Right of course, well good luck I hope you get good news.  Let me know if you need help finding good deals in NoVA.

  • Congrats!Nothing terribly new here.  Started homeschooling my boy back in March (we’re taking a break now that it’s summer), still taking care of my grandma, same old crap.

  • @Roadlesstaken - next week? i had an interesting weekend, my most recent post.

  • In order of your announcements, congrats, congrats, congrats, looks like you had a great time, and congrats again! As an addendum, Timmy’s looking a bit like Val Kilmer now…

  • Congrats on the job and more importantly on your 2 yr anniversary.  That’s a really nice necklace.  I hope you’ll soon get caught up with your subscriptions.

  • We are all sort of growing old.  Do you have grey hair yet?

  • Congrats on your new job! Congrats on your anniversary. And that is such a cute necklace. I can relate to you about feeling old…that’s also how I started to feel when 3 out of my 4 closest friends got married in last year Nov, Dec and this year Feb respectively. For me, it’s a bit of a relief that there won’t be any more weddings coming for a while, but the pressure is on me now. Everyone keeps asking when it’s my turn. So annoying! But congrats again…on your 10 years of commitment to Xanga. Man, that’s really a big number.

  • i like the necklace. if i hadn’t deleted my old account this would have been my 12th year!

  • Work and patience, indeed! As for me, I try and think of it more of a really close friendship with the potential of becoming something more, thanks to certain cultural expectations. And for said potential to be realized, we need to graduate from college, which will take around 4 more years. In one hand, it doesn’t sound so optimistic; in the other, if we’re meant to make it, then it could very well be a good opportunity for us to be better individuals as well as have our friendship be strengthened as time goes by. Thank you for being my therapist just a moment ago. Appreciated! XD

  • Ahhhhhh that gif is amazing. And 10 years? Foly huck that’s a long-ass time here haha

  • @Roadlesstaken - I was in South Africa to study and intern. It was an incredible experience. It is all over my blog haha. I’m in the New Brunswick area now, but also spend a lot of time in Philly with the boyfriend.

  • Welcome to double digits here on the Xanga.

  • Aw, Hey SweetHandsomeAlex!!! Congrats! And YAY on all the good changes and wonderful anniversaries!!! I always think of you and wish you THE BEST!!!HUGS!!!PS…love the eyebrow raise!

  • Congrats on the new job and 2 years man!! Life sure has gone fast

  •  Hi this one is great and is really a good post. I think it will help me a lot in the related stuff and is very much useful for me

  • @chronic_masticator - Ah, your Xanga profile has your face!  I’m probably going to have to start taking care of my grandma soon too; her cancer came back and this time they aren’t going to treat it but just make her as comfortable as can be.@eatdrinkandbemaryy - =)@whotakethmycoke - So mean!@ElusiveWords - I really do need to, before it’s too late now…

  • It’s been over a year since we’ve met! Congrats on all the career move, the move move, and your relationship with Cindy.

  • @TheTheologiansCafe - Not quite yet. Gonna be interesting to have grey and spikey hair in the future@simplysuzu - Yeah, it is very annoying to get asked the marriage question so often.  In a way I am ready for it though.  I did think that I would get married before 30…@thelotusletters - What made you delete your account before?@nov_way - Yes you’re welcome, you owe me just $60,000 for the session.  I take credit

  • @Marica0701 - Finally someone commented on the gif!  I just discovered how to make those type of gifs and it’s fun.@buiptammy - Great, will have to give you a heads up if I visit Philly again sometime.  I was there around this time last year.@Thatslifekid - I would say join the club, but based on current news that may not be possible =(@adamswomanback - Thanks for the eyebrows compliment haha. One of my favorite gesture to make my gf laugh.

  • @Roadlesstaken - I’ve been in the club, surprise!

  • @TheNightOut - It has, and yet I still have not been able to visit Europe during that time!  Still on my to do list@christao408 - Thanks, I need to catch up with your blog soon before it’s too late…@oxyGENE_08 - Sigh I know, I jinxed everything!@mkazama - Damn has it?  Does not feel like it at all.  Again, time flying sucks.

  • @Thatslifekid - Oooo wait you stopped and started over I see? Well nevermind!

  • @Roadlesstaken - Nah, just changed my username twice. that’s all. I started my blog summer of 2001.  I’ve been here nearly 12 years. Woah.

  • @Roadlesstaken - Definitely let me know! Timing was always an issue but hopefully not next time :)

  • Congrats on the new job! Glad everything is going well for you!

  • @Roadlesstaken - It’s not a Xanga thing. It’s a YouTube thing, so no you haven’t lost touch. Here’s an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjnBPSBmVIo

  • ALEX. THE TITLE OF YOUR POST IS MISLEADING. i thought you also got engaged. haha.

  • @xx_smilez - Thanks!  It’s too bad things aren’t going well for Xanga =(@jia_x3 - Hey, those are still big changes!

  • “That is really crazy and I believe this is the longest running social network I am a part of.  Blogging has always been a fun hobby of mine, and I hope I can remember to keep it up in some capacity for the future.”kinda crazy, a day after you wrote that, xanga is possibly shutting down.

  • Congratulation on your new job! It feels like it was yesterday when I first heard of your new girlfriend and boom 2 yrs…time flies! I would say meeting you was one of the highlight of my experiences on xanga, you really have done a lot for this community and I believe many people can attest to that. Thanks for your friendship and boundless energy in gathering people together!

  • congrats on the new job!!

  • Congrats on the new job :) . I love reading your blogs!  Very inspiring.  Ten years with Xanga…that’s a long time.

  • I’ve had a lot of things happen the past 8ish months but haven’t always been good about putting them in Xanga form. Recent highlights: Graduated college (again), got a full-time job. But Xanga’s apparently going caput, which is the bad part of my update equation….

  • @rxglasshalffull - Worse time for my superpowers to activate@Trigger821 - Thanks Aaron, truly appreciate it and it was great getting to know you too.  Time did fly – It was more than 2 years ago when Jenny and you came down!  I have to let you know when I’m up in NY again.@bonmots - Thanks, I appreciate it.  I feel so bad that my real life has kept me away from my Xanga life, when I used to be so good at making time.  @karen0z - Thanks!

  • @HeartLUST - It has, and I hope it will somehow continued a bit longer but that may not be soon @Lynn1013 - Good news to hear in your life!  Enjoying the job so far?

  • Dear Alex,Congratulations on EVERYTHING and I love the “easter egg” in your work photo.Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool

  • @Roadlesstaken - It’s the same job I’ve had since last year, so yeah, I’m enjoying it decently well. It’s kind of nice to be over most of the learning curve on some things. :)

  • @baldmike2004 - Thanks, do you know how to make those type of gifs yourself?  I would think you would be someone that appreciate how fun they are.

  • @Roadlesstaken - Oh yes, I think I created my first animated gif in 2001 or so. I have two gif animation programs. What I really liked to do was the morphs (like the ever changing profile pics on my blog, or the MikeVideo “Skyline” from 2007.)

  • Congrats on your new job and the 2 yr! Hope you guys enjoyed Miami. Where was the wedding?

  • @bambii - The wedding was at Vienna, Virginia (not the more famous Vienna haha).  Have you ever been in the Virginia area?

  • congrats on the job! also good choice for the necklace! so, you and your lady friend coming out to CA any time soon?!

  • @aJoLLyDork - Actually I will be in NorCal July 1-6.  Will you be up there by chance?

  • @Roadlesstaken - No…darn! See you next time.

  • - your gif image is creepy- I didn’t even know positions like tennis rep existed .__.- the necklace looks like a smaller version of the blue diamond necklace from Titanic lolAnyway congrats~!

  • @nepenthium - Yes, was hoping for the gif to scare some people!  Tennis rep exists yup, very fun position to be in.  Interesting observation about the necklace, I will have to tell her next time.  Thanks, and I hope you are doing well!

  • Congrats on your two years with Cindy. Awesome GIF, lol. How’s the radio show coming along?

  • @Titan35 - Thanks, and radio show series is going on very well.  Have you had a chance to listen in on any?
