Below are 5 statements about me. Only one of them is false. Can you guess which one it is? If so, you will get…well, nothing honestly . I’ll give the correct answer next post, as well as give a shout out to whoever gets it right. Here they are:
1. I know nothing about cars besides how to drive one. 2. I have not yet been a guest at a wedding. 3. I was on television once. 4. I have taught a college class. 5. I have only been in love once.
Feel free to post a comment with your guess

The Matrix Runs on Windows: another amazing collegehumor.com video showing how The Matrix would have been if it was running on Windows. The video quality and special effects are quite impressive for this type of video. That talking paperclip kills me each time I watch this:
People Getting Punch (SNL): An old digital short that I absolutely love. I don’t know why, but seeing people getting punched before they eat is hilarious, especially with that music and celebratory dancing:

—————————————————————————————————————- I’m pretty tired from last night. The varsity coach at UMBC (who was also an advisor for my Tennis Club) is leaving after this semester to be the new varsity coach at Navy, so the school is throwing a coach appreciation night this Friday. I decided to make a video representing the Tennis Club that will be played at the ceremony, so I spent a large chunk of the day yesterday figuring out the script, organizing people to be in the video, getting the video shot over at UMBC, and editing all the videos together. I’ll try to post up the finished video on Saturday. Just a heads up, the running punchline of the video is that I keep trying to say this one very heartfelt line, but each time I try to one of the club people interrupts me. As the video goes on I get more and more frustrated. I think it turned out very well and I hope the coach and everyone else will get a good laugh out of it!
I’ve seen these 5 facts things on youtube and been meaning to do one myself. Instead of saying it on a video, I’ll just list them below.
5 Random Facts About Roadlesstaken:
1. I have incredibly vivid dreams.
I tend to remember most of my dreams when I wake up and if I wanted to I could describe, in detail, what went on. I don’t think I ever really had scary dreams. Most dreams I have usually involves some weird adventure that could possibly happen in real life. Check out my entry “I dream a lot” for an example of one dream I had recently.
Have you ever heard of lucid dreaming? It’s when you realize that you are dreaming in the middle of dreaming, which then allows you to control yourself in your dream. Sounds kinda cool right? I can only remember achieving that one time, back in high school. Once I realized I was dreaming, I started walking through walls, flying, drinking from a 10 foot tall Coke bottle, and doing some *ahem* unmentionables . Err anyways, lucid dreaming is fun .
2. I kick stray shoes if they’re in my way.
Okay, let me explain. My friends actually pointed this out to me one time when I was in their dorm rooms. They tend to take off their shoes and just leave them all over the room. Apparently, whenever I walk around and one of their shoes is in my way, I give it a small kick to knock it out of my path. It’s not like I’m angry or anything. I have no idea where I got this random thing from, or how long I’ve been doing this before my friends pointed it out. Does anyone else do this?
3. I have a very distinct walk.
Now I’m pretty sure my dad is responsible for this trait of mine. Generally when I walk, I walk very upright with a noticeable swagger. My friend described it by saying I swing my body back and forth, with my arms kinda out. The first time someone mentioned this to me was during high school. I was just walking by myself down a hall when a random kid ask me “why you walking around like you’re all that?” Haha…well trust me, I don’t do it on purpose. In fact, lately I’ve been attempting to calm that down and make my walk not as distinctive. Anyways, if you have a problem with that blame my dad, since he walks exactly the same way. Oh well, it could be worse. At least I look confident in the way I carry myself .
Here’s a video of me walking at a cultural fashion show. Skip to 2:23-2:55 to see the part with me:
I was attempting to control it btw. Is it noticeable still?
4. If I could have a secret power, I wish I could read people’s minds.
Just like Matt Parkman on Heroes!
Being a psychology major I guess that’s not too surprising. I admit, I’ve actually thought about this enough that I start wondering what I would do if I did have those powers. Would I just keep it to myself, or would I go to some organization like the government to help interrogate unsuspecting people? I then start thinking what if the government try to do experiments on me if I went to them. Maybe I would just keep it to myself but still use my powers for the common good. I would be like that guy from Psych, except legit! …Okay, I’m gonna stop before I make myself sound more like a dork.
5. I love giving (and receiving) massages.
Yes I do. I didn’t even really need massages until college started. An ex of mine stressed me out so much that I now have reoccurring knots on my shoulders that requires deep tissue massages to get out. I also enjoy giving massages for some reason. Maybe I like the idea that I’m helping someone else feel better. What’s weird is that I don’t get tired when I massage people. I have given massages in the past that lasted for hours and my hands did not feel sore at all. If I ever find someone that is like that and can massage me I’ll be in heaven!
Alright, I’m gonna tag 5 random people. If I tag you, you have to make a 5 facts post in the near future. Feel free to do one even if I didn’t tag you. Have fun!
I tag: immaairheadxl midgetmachine s_h_a_sha chocolattt Lynn1013 ———————————————————————————————————– As mentioned last post, I went to the VSA banquet Friday night for the first time. Overall it was a good experience and I had a lot of fun hanging out with old friends from UMBC, as well as listening to some, um, interesting karaoke. I somehow got recruited at one point to walk out with one of the fashion show models as well. It was alright, but I wish I could have enjoyed the food that was coming out during the time we did our last minute run through.
Datingish.com posted up an entry I sent them! Please check it out and comment on it here. Thank you!
–EDIT–
If The Other Party Win – A CollegeHumor video of what would happen to America if the Democrats or the Republicans won the election, based on the other side’s extreme views. Hilarity ensues.
“Star Wars” a capella John Williams Tribute – One guy sings four parts, telling the story of Star Wars using theme songs from Indiana Jones, E.T., Jaws, Jurassic Park, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Amazing!
First Asian Boy – A parody music video of Estelle’s “American Boy” talking about why you should try dating your first Asian guy
Toy Commercial Fail – Unintentionally creepy ad for a laughing doll.
———————————————————————————————————— I think I’ve decided that I want to go to graduate school next fall after all. I’m most likely gonna try getting my masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the Shady Grove campus of UMBC. In case you’re wondering, an I/O psychologist is usually responsible for making organizations more productive by making sure the workers are psychologically productive and healthy. It isn’t something that I always wished to do as a kid, but it’s something I can see myself enjoying. That type of job also pays very well, which is a great bonus. So unless something drastic changes, that’s my current plan. I will probably try to get a part time job in the mean time.
All the election hoo-ha made me forget to post up some pictures from last weekend’s Chinese Student Association Dim Sum trip. I’m snagging some picture from you Selene; hope you don’t mind :
Later tonight I will be going to the Vietnamese Student Association banquet (my first time going), so I’ll have pictures from tonight on the next post. Have a great weekend everyone!
Tomorrow’s the day when we find out who our next president will be and I’m so excited. Never before have I’ve been this into a presidential election. I’ve been following it like I would follow one of my favorite tv shows. In some ways, the whole race has been like a show with many twist, turns, and tons of drama.
I just want to encourage all of you to just take the time out to vote tomorrow (I’m sure you heard that message EVERYWHERE, but bear with me ). If you need help finding your polling station, click on this link to find yours. Also, if you need a ride to your polling station and you’re near UMBC, call/message me and I’ll try to give you a ride, seriously.
Specifically, I’m hoping for a large turnout for young voters. Even if you think your vote doesn’t matter, it has wide implications for the future. If say there is a large young voter turnout tomorrow, guess who’s concerns will become a bigger focus the next time someone runs for election?
We also need to get a bigger portion of us Asian American voters to go to the polls. Did you know that Asian voters typically have one of the lowest turnout rates? Let’s change that! Get rid of your apathy and help be a part of this big point in our history. If we can increase the turn out rate from where it is now (around the 30-40% turnout rate for Asians), our vote can seriously make an impact on the election. Don’t believe it? Watch this video below to see the power of the Asian Swing Vote, specifically how we ousted out the VA Republican George Allen after he made the racist comment “Maccaca” to an Indian American:
Right now, things are looking good for Obama, but don’t take that as a guarantee that he will win. We still need to get out there and vote, and to encourage all of our friends and family to vote. If things work out right, Obama will be ballin’:
BUT we got to make sure he doesn’t drop the ball! Don’t get too ahead of ourselves, Obama supporters, or else we may see this:
I started off the day bummed out from the night before. I wanted to go to Monster Bash because it seemed that a lot of my friends were going, but it ended up not working out. My friend Darrell heard about it, and we almost decided to go on a quick road trip to NJ to get White Castle as a way to cheer us both up, but decided it wasn’t worth the time and money. Instead, we stuck around the area and decided to go watch Zack and Miri Makes A Porno (my review will be at the end of this post).
Oh yeah, before I forget I was dressed up as a doctor for Halloween (again I know, just totally slip my mind to get a new costume this year). I apparently looked really legit to a few older teens that were in front of me in the ticket line. One of the guys did a double take on me and told me he was gonna say to his friends “who does this hot shot doctor think he is, going to the movies without changing out of his jacket!”
Halfway through the movie, the fire alarm rang and we all had to exit out and wait. As I was standing there, A older woman who looked over 45 came up to me and ask me if I can help fix her ass because “it’s gaping and needed to be rimmed” . I guessed that she must have just came out of Zack and Miri too. That, or she was just one VERY open middle age woman haha.
Later on the night, I made a quick stop at Tiffany’s birthday dinner before rushing back home to take my little cousin around trick or treating. It’s so refreshing seeing such a joyful person. I don’t think I have ever seen her really upset or anything. When I have a kid later on in life, I hope his or her demeanor is just like hers.
A picture of my younger cousins, brother, grandma and I last night:
My brother wasn’t dressed up btw, and my cousin Lang is “pink man”, I think.
Okay review time!
Zack and Miri Makes A Porno
I was really looking forward to this movie since I heard about it. I figure it would play out sorta like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, being a movie disguised as being very raunchy but turning out to be sweet instead. This movie was pretty much that, although not quite as effective or consistent as Virgin.
First I gotta mention this: Elizabeth Banks was hot in this movie! Cough, um yeah, she acted very well too . Much better in this than she was in Role Models, but then again she had more to work with here. She had great chemistry with Seth Rogen. Without that chemistry the movie wouldn’t have been as sweet as it was.
Everyone else was pretty good too, but Justin Long (in a hilarious cameo as a gay porn actor) and Craig Robinson (club doorman in Knocked Up, the thug who got his toe blown off at the end of Pineapple Express) were the best.
The movie had a great, funny first half, but the second half was kinda a letdown. It started to behave more like a sweet romantic comedy, which is fine, but a lot of the humor was gone from it too. Virgin and Forgetting Sarah Marshall did it much better by showing the heart but also remaining consistently funny. There were a lot of awkward moments as well that I don’t think was done on purpose.
This film, btw, is not as graphic as you think it is. The dialogue can get pretty filthy, but it’s done in a silly sort of way that makes fun of how outrageous actual porn movie dialogue is. I can’t believe how hypocritical the Utah theaters’ owners are for banning this movie because of it’s values, yet not ban a movie like Saw V where people are getting gruesomely cut up. But yeah…I shall digress.
Overall, the movie was just alright so a 3 out of 5. There are a lot of LOL moments, but the last part really let the movie down. I preferred the movie Role Models because it was hilarious throughout and had an awesome kickass ending. If you have to choose between that or Zack and Miri, go with Role Models for the laughs or Zack and Miri for the heart.
Alright, now I’m gonna head down to College Park to watch a club match and get some bubble tea
