  • OUCH

    O_O

People are all back at school now, except for me.  Weird.  Still need to get used to that.

  • My celebrity crushes…

Oddly enough consist of a lot of girls with names starting with the letter “M” .  Slightly weird.  I’m sure everyone make these types of lists now and then.  Of course I’m not THAT bored to make an entire entry on such a stupid thing like that.  Why waste my time?  I got much more important stuff to do…

“No tell us!  Who’s on your top 5, Alex?”

Well I guess if you must know .  Here are my top 5 celebrity crushes with names starting with “M”, in no particular order, along with the movie/tv show that made me first go “whoa, that one’s a stunner!”

    Malin Akerman (27 Dresses)

    Mila Kunis (Forgetting Sarah Marshall)

    Melissa George (In Treatment)

Michelle Monaghan (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang)

    Marion Cotillard (A Good Year)

Apparently I fall for girls with long, wavy hair and amazing eyes haha.  Anyone see any other common trait?

Tomorrow is move in day for UMBC, and it feels very odd that I’m not moving back in.  I’m gonna head over to UMBC anyways just to help out some friends.  If you see me feel free to ask me to give you an extra hand.

  • Third year going to Legg Mason

Before I talk about my tournament trip, I first gotta say congrats to James Blake for beating Roger Federer at the Olympics!  I swear, I had a dream last night predicting that was going to happen, but when I wrote up I thought “nah”.  I do feel a bit bad for Federer.  He now got to wait until 2012 in order to fulfill his dream of getting gold.  Now I just want James Blake to beat Fernando Gonzalez and Rafael Nadal to beat Novak Djokovic in the semis and I’ll be estatic!

US Open Series Road Trip Bus!

So yesterday I went down to the Legg Mason tournament for the third straight year and I think this was my best trip yet!  The weather was wonderful; sunny, not too hot, with a breeze.  The matches we saw were high quality, especially the one between Tommy Haas and Nicolas Mahut.

Forgot to mention that I got into the tournamet for free, thanks to free tickets given to me for volunteering at an Asian festival in DC this past weekend.  At the last minute I realized I had an extra ticket, so I quickly found my little cousin at the tennis courts and kidnapped him haha.  It was his first time seeing professional tennis live, so I hope he enjoyed it.

not the most flattering picture of us.

Once there, I immediated headed over to the practice courts in hope of seeing Roddick practicing.  I didn’t see him, but I was pleasantly surprise to see Vince “Ain’t Afraid of Ya!” Spadea there!  Been a fan of him ever since reading his book he wrote about his adventures on tour.  He is also known as the tennis rapper, and he sure acted like it when I met him.

Me:  “Hey, can I get a picture with you?”
Him:  (in a deep voice, sorta sounding high) “Yeaaaa mannnn!”

I admit I was a bit nervous there.  I wasn’t sure what to do with my hands!

A video I took of him practicing his serves with his coach.  Towards the end he acknowledges my camera after saying “Go Spadea” to himself:

After that, we pretty much stayed in the main stadium to watch all the featured matches of the day.  I manage to snag some really good seats right up front near the player’s entrance, which allowed for some good close up viewing of matches as well as first priority in getting autographs.

Some match shots (click to enlarge)

By the end of the day I gotten four pro’s signatures from Tommy Haas, Eric “Booty” Butorac, John Isner, and Vince Spadea (pictured below).  Much better than expected!

    Woohoo!

Can’t wait to go again next year when people that didn’t come out this year due to the Olympics will be there.

  • Bookstore Cafe observations

Hello everyone!  Nothing terribly exciting has happened since I update.  I’m still sorta job hunting, but I haven’t gotten into full blown searching quite yet.  In a way I’m procrastinating while I still can.

Lately, one of the ways I’ve been procrastinating has been hanging out at the cafe at the Arundel Mills bookstore.  I ever got my own spot there; the middle seat at the window seats, facing out towards the mall.  I’ve been showing up there for the past week or so, reading a book and getting some bubble tea (which is conveniently right in front me of me!).  Today is the first time bringing a laptop with me, since I recently found out there’s wireless.  Needless to say, I’ve been doing a lot less reading today haha.

One of the reasons I sit at the window seat is so I can people watch, which can be quite fun (not in a creepy way of course; don’t act like you don’t do this too when you’re bored!).  Here’s a sample of some of the observations I’ve made as I sit here:

**That Deal or No Deal game station is relatively popular.  I see at least a few people play it every hour, though I’m not sure what people actually win when they play it.  I never see anything come out of that machine, so maybe it’s just for the high score.  For the price of playing, that doesn’t really seem like a good deal (no pun intended).  Still, it’s pretty entertaining seeing the faces of the people playing, looking like they are really winning money.  I doubt anyone ever gets the million dollar suitcase, since it’s all electronic so it can be very easily rigged for people to fail.

**That DVD/Movie game machine is far less popular.  I think I’ve seen maybe…2 people playing it in the past week?  Most of the time I see little kids come over there and just press the buttons furiously as if they had A.D.H.D.  The game seems pretty difficult to win as well, and definitely does not look like its worth the money.  I wonder how much it is…I saw someone put a 5 dollar bill in it but didn’t see them getting any change.  Totally not worth it.

**Mall cops on segways wearing bike helmets are always funny to look at everytime they past, er drive by.  Are those really neccessary?  Maybe it’s just me, but I have a hard time taking them seriously on those things. Doesn’t help that most of them look a bit too overweight to be able to outrun anyone.  Hmm, maybe those segways are just a necessaty for them to do their jobs afterall *shrugs*.

**In terms of popularity (over the weekdays at least), Auntie Anne’s is first, than Jasmine, than Cinnabon.

**Speaking of Jasmine, it seems like all the female workers there are over 25 while most of the male workers look like they are freshmen in high school.  Jasmine should employ more female workers around my age so I can have some eye candy while sitting here .

**Yea…Arundel Mills does not have a very high rate of good looking people to average/bad looking people walking around.  I say about 75-80% of the people that are good looking are with their significant other as well.  How dissappointing

**I really shouldn’t be so surprise at how often I see an old high school classmate walking by.  Some people just don’t ever leave…including me haha.  Oh even more reason to find a job soon.

That’s all the observations I can think of at this moment.  Back to reading the Twilight series.
