    X-Men III:  The Last Stand

Well, I just came back from seeing X-Men.  Coming in, I was just
hoping that it wouldn’t suck, due to the director change and the rush
production of it.  By the end though, I can say that well, it
wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

I’ll start w/ some of the problems of it first.  There’s just way to much stuff crammed into this film!
Because of this, you do not get much character development or screen
time of certain folks.  Specifically, i wish they could have
devoted a lot more time to Iceman, Collosus, Angel, and even Jean
Grey.  As the “Phoenix”, i think we could have seen a lot more out
    of her.

Despite this, the movie ended up being really enjoyable, as long as
you’re not a hardcore fan of the comic.  In other words, this is a great summer popcorn movie
There are some terrific scenes in this movie that will blow you away
and make you a little giddy (if you ever dreamt of having certain
mutant powers heh).  The Bridge scene and the scenes where Jean
Grey totally demolished everything around her (even vaporizing people!)
    looked really great.

Magneto and Beast were great characters as well.  Magneto is even
more badass in this film. The producers of this film sure did pick the
perfect person to play Beast.  Kelsey Grammar’s acting was spot on.

Finally, I love the metaphor of this film.  You can easily
generalized issues in this film to the real world.  Instead of
appointing clear cut good guys and bad guys, there were a lot of shades
of gray.  What’s the ethical thing to do?  A very complicated
    question…

    Pros:  Great graphics,
awesome action scenes, good parallels to real life issues of
intolerance, spot on characters (Wolverine, Beast, Magneto, and
Mystique), good mutant power teaming, kept me entertained throughout
    Cons:  too little time to
cover all the stuff in this film, making Storm a more prominent
character, certain “deaths”, felt a little rushed, certain characters
really should have gotten more time, wish that Gambit and Nightcrawler
    were in this

    Summary:  If you’re just
looking to get thrill for 2 hours and not looking for too much
character development, I highly recommend seeing this movie.  Make
sure you stay til the end of the credits!  They better make
    another X-Men movie.

    Final rating:  B

Yay, I think I got straight As this semester!  Sweet

Today i did some training for psychology research I’m doing over the
summer.  My research will involve me going into baltimore city
homes and interviewing delinquent teenagers, ones that have been
arrested multiple times and are turning to this treatment
program.  We went over safety stuff today which, will, made me a
little nervous about this research.  As long as I dont get shot or
robbed or get beat up I’ll be happy…(pray for me guys).

Plans…yes, tomorrow I’m gonna watch X-Men III, over the weekend i
will be in Ocean City with my family (first family vacation in a long
time, aiya!), and next Monday-Wednesday I will be in New Jersey
visiting Raquel.  Once I come back, i will start my new job at the
    insurance place.  Busy o me…

    From wikipedia.org:

“Kancho (カンチョー kanchō?) is a game or trick often played in Japan
by young school-aged children; it is performed by clasping the hands
together so the index fingers are pointing out and attempting to insert
them into someone’s anal region when the victim is not looking. It is similar in spirit to the wedgie or a goosing in North America.”

Yea…i hope that never catch on in the US.

  • Finals week

Haven’t had time to do much update lately.  Been so busy w/ finals
and stuff.  I have a chance to get straight As this
semester!  The only thing stopping me is my Exceptional Child
class.  I need to get an 87% or more on the final on monday.
    Wish me luck

Wednesday was the CSA BBQ and the Tennis Club Awards.  Both events were very fun!

Check my facebook for more pictures

I also saw The Da Vinci Code
last night with a bunch of tennis buddies and some old high school
friends.  The movie was…ok.  I felt that it was too slow at
times and Tom Hanks was strangely…underwhelming.  Not sure if i
    would recommend this one…

    Anyways back to studying.

  • SGA Inarguration

Anybody wanna take Sociology 101 with me next semester on MW from 2:30-3:45pm??

I finally picked up the certificates i got for winning the Alumni Association Scholarship and the Kaplan Leadership Scholarship
Yup, this will help me out w/ paying for room and board.  I think
im gonna have to take out a stafford loan, then pay for the rest with
the money i’ll get from my job this summer (and maybe some money from
    work during school).  We’ll see…

This weekend I’m going to study a lot.  Looks like I may get a B in PSYC 305, but w/e…I’m still in good shape.

  • —EDIT—
Funny how I’m the LAST person to find out that I won the Kaplan Scholarship (worth $1000)!!!!!  OMMMMGG!

    –EDIT—

Why do I STILL procrastinate on papers?!?!?!

Well I finally got it done, now I’m gonna head to bed soon…

I got the job with the insurance guy that’s friends with my
parents!  I will be paid at least 10 dollars/hour, working 3 hours
a day from Monday-Friday.  Sweet deal…that will give me time to
work out, play tennis, and do research for my PSYC 397 class.

I’m so excited for next year’s tennis season.  Ahh…can’t
wait.  Check out our newly formed website if you want:

Guess what guys?  I was one of the winners of the Alumni Association Scholarship for 1,200 dollars!  WOOOO!  Feels good to finally win one of these things.

Yesterday I went to the award ceremony for it.  Besides like one
other person, everyone else there were either graduating seniors or
graduates!  I felt so out of place (especially since I was the
only one there in jeans and flip flops!), but it was still kinda
cool.  Hopefully I can be one of those people when I’m a senior…

Gotta keep on hustling and flowing

  • I’m so excited about next year’s Tennis Club!!!!!  So much to do so much to do….

    This
weekend has been very busy.  Saturday was Maryland Day, so I
checked that out with some people.  Later on I watched an
exhibition Maryland football game (which sucked; can’t anyone get a
frickin touchdown??) and went to see Scary Movie 4 (again) with Raquel,
    Roberto and Dheera.

I didn’t get to sleep until close to
4am that night why?  Curious old me haha…well next door the girl
was having very loud sex.  It was literally echoing down the
hall.  So what do I do?  I had to listen of course!
Haha, it was some hiliarious stuff.  They had the music blaring
out loud and the moaning (and bed squeaking) was still very
clear.  I still didnt figure out why she was chuckling so much
towards the end .  Yea, that kept raquel and I up…”loud sex much?”

    Today
I went to the Orioles baseball game with Roberto, Raquel, Rebecca,
Laura, Lucas, Teresa, and Roberto’s mom and friend.  It wasn’t too
bad…but I was really tired out so I didnt feel very energized.

    Some pics:

Now I must continue on studying for my music listening test.
