X-Men III: The Last Stand
Well, I just came back from seeing X-Men. Coming in, I was just
hoping that it wouldn’t suck, due to the director change and the rush
production of it. By the end though, I can say that well, it
wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
I’ll start w/ some of the problems of it first. There’s just way to much stuff crammed into this film!
Because of this, you do not get much character development or screen
time of certain folks. Specifically, i wish they could have
devoted a lot more time to Iceman, Collosus, Angel, and even Jean
Grey. As the “Phoenix”, i think we could have seen a lot more out
of her.
Despite this, the movie ended up being really enjoyable, as long as
you’re not a hardcore fan of the comic. In other words, this is a great summer popcorn movie.
There are some terrific scenes in this movie that will blow you away
and make you a little giddy (if you ever dreamt of having certain
mutant powers heh). The Bridge scene and the scenes where Jean
Grey totally demolished everything around her (even vaporizing people!)
looked really great.
Magneto and Beast were great characters as well. Magneto is even
more badass in this film. The producers of this film sure did pick the
perfect person to play Beast. Kelsey Grammar’s acting was spot on.
Finally, I love the metaphor of this film. You can easily
generalized issues in this film to the real world. Instead of
appointing clear cut good guys and bad guys, there were a lot of shades
of gray. What’s the ethical thing to do? A very complicated
question…
Pros: Great graphics,
awesome action scenes, good parallels to real life issues of
intolerance, spot on characters (Wolverine, Beast, Magneto, and
Mystique), good mutant power teaming, kept me entertained throughout
Cons: too little time to
cover all the stuff in this film, making Storm a more prominent
character, certain “deaths”, felt a little rushed, certain characters
really should have gotten more time, wish that Gambit and Nightcrawler
were in this
Summary: If you’re just
looking to get thrill for 2 hours and not looking for too much
character development, I highly recommend seeing this movie. Make
sure you stay til the end of the credits! They better make
another X-Men movie.
Final rating: B

Yay, I think I got straight As this semester! Sweet
Today i did some training for psychology research I’m doing over the
summer. My research will involve me going into baltimore city
homes and interviewing delinquent teenagers, ones that have been
arrested multiple times and are turning to this treatment
program. We went over safety stuff today which, will, made me a
little nervous about this research. As long as I dont get shot or
robbed or get beat up I’ll be happy…(pray for me guys).
Plans…yes, tomorrow I’m gonna watch X-Men III, over the weekend i
will be in Ocean City with my family (first family vacation in a long
time, aiya!), and next Monday-Wednesday I will be in New Jersey
visiting Raquel. Once I come back, i will start my new job at the
insurance place. Busy o me…

From wikipedia.org:
“Kancho (カンチョー kanchō?) is a game or trick often played in Japan
by young school-aged children; it is performed by clasping the hands
together so the index fingers are pointing out and attempting to insert
them into someone’s anal region when the victim is not looking. It is similar in spirit to the wedgie or a goosing in North America.”
Yea…i hope that never catch on in the US.
