—-edit—–
I am absolutely shocked at what happened in Louisiana. That is so
crazy…idk how i would handle that mess…my thoughts go out to all
the victims down there…Gas prices are also soaring! Holy shit…never thought i would see $6/gallon…
——edit——Can you find where I am??
Heh yea, so this was from last year’s Welcome Week since the site hasn’t put up pics of this years yet.
Its been CRAZY
these past few days! Ive been gettin up early, like around 8-9am, and
going to school to help my commuting freshmen and transfers and not
leaving until around 10-11pm. I’ve been constantly tired from lack of
sleep and energy, my allergies been acting up, been having a slight
stomach ache through the whole week, and did I mention ive been
extremely tired?!But you know what…yea, it was all worth it, for real. I was very
surprise w/ how many people came in my group. They just kept coming
back and in the end we had a great little bond. Or maybe it was
because we were all tired and we were just laughing at everything.
But yea…I know that i help made a big difference of a lot of the
commuters that came and that is enough to make me wanna come back next
year as a Woolie.I wanna give a shout out to the Woolies that made the experience even better than it was: Jennifer, Amir, Trish, Bryan, Janna, Grace, Lenroy, Chinonso, and Gina.
Some of the other Woolies (especially certain returning Woolies) didnt
seem like they wanted to get to know the newer folks…eh w/e.So yea what did we do:
-Been to the dining hall far more than i can count (but free food!)
-Extreme Socializing Playfair: Kinda fun, but sooo crazy. “I want a standing OVATION!”
-RESPECT session: awesome session! ALMOST made me cry…heh
-Free Pool and Ping Pong: always lovely…and met more people who are interested in the tennis club! I wonder how the club is gonna work out…
-Sin City up in the gameroom: I love that movie, so why not give my commuters a chance to see it too?
-Outdoor Napoleon Dynamite: Bad movie IMO, but good main character
-Book discussion: Went a lot
better than i expected! everyone in my discussion read the book (well,
except me heh) and we had some pretty good discussion. I got my
“moment of delight” when one of the commuters name Derrick said that
UMBC is so welcoming and such a different environment than he been use
to. im happy i got the opportunity to help him see how great this
college really is…-Capital Steps: a hilarious
political satire show. I wished that i knew more about politics tho;
then maybe i would have gotten all the jokes. But still, awesome show
nontheless.-Convocation: kinda boring, but you know…I got to lead the new students into the RAC tho!
-Big Crazy Fun Night: that was
exactly what the name saids! There was so much stuff going on but I
mostly did karaoke judge for the time i was there. Karaoke was
awesome; heard some pretty good singing and I even got a chance to
practice my vocals haha. I had a blast…btw raquel came by on monday night! after we watch capital steps she
ended up sleepin over at my house. You bet I was happy to see her
again…. Ive gave
her my first present that absolutely surprise her; a giant chinese take
out box pillow! cant wait til this weekend to give her my final
gift…along w/ finally seeing her new dorm!Today:
First day of classes! Man i couldnt go 10 steps w/o bumping into
someone i knew! pretty cool…classes were eh, ok (boring of course).
Basically ive been busy all day just doing meetings, running errand,
buying stuff, etc. I hope I do well this semester!
