    Hey Everyone:

Every year, UMBCServes hosts an annual Welcome Week Service Day
event, where students from across campus come together to help improve the
Baltimore community. This year, it will be on Saturday, 09/04/2004, from 9am
to 1pm, meeting up in the Multipurpose Room in Harbor Hall at 9am.
Transportation is provided. I have personally participated in this event in
both my freshman and sophomore years and it has always been a great way to
have fun and make new friends. Here is an excerpt from the email I received
    from Residential Life:

“This year, we will be heading to Baltimore City to join the Mayor’s
Office in the “Believe in Our Schools” campaign, an initiative they have
started to help get elementary, middle, and high schools ready for the new
school year. Specific tasks range from helping prepare playgrounds to last
minute painting touch-ups, and anything else in-between that the school
needs. A continental breakfast will be provided on-campus and a pizza lunch
(most likely, menu might change) will be provided on-site before we board
the bus to return to UMBC.”

If you’d like to participate, please email me at montmin1@umbc.edu
and I’ll forward your name to Residential Life. Also, this event is open to
EVERYONE on campus, so tell your friends to sign up too!

    Thanks-

    J.C. Montminy
    President, Honors College Council
