Small Annoyances Connected to My Name
*Faint sounds of people in the background and the ruffling of someone’s pants*
I heard two minutes of this on my voicemail today. Yet again, another random person has butt dialed me. I’m sure it happens to others, but it definitely feels like it happens to me at a higher than average rate because of my name. How? I’ll get to that very soon.
Don’t get me wrong. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the name “Alex Chan” and wouldn’t want to change it if I could. However, I have to admit there are some annoyances that comes about due to my name that I wouldn’t mind not dealing with or hearing about anymore. The following examples are minor, but reoccurring gripes I have:
“Oops sorry, accidentally called you…but um, hi!”
As I mentioned before, I get a lot of accidental calls from people I’ve given my number to due to the fact my name is often one of the first names on people’s contacts. When I don’t get those awesome voicemails, I sometime luck out and instead have awkward conversations with people I haven’t talked to in years! Got to love that.Me thinks more people should be friends with Aarons and Abes so my name gets pushed down the list. Mhmm.
“Really, you don’t have a middle name?”
Is not having a middle name uncommon? It sure seems like it whenever I would mention that fact about myself to someone and they would act surprised by that revelation.I eventually asked my parents why they didn’t give me a middle name and their answer was they didn’t know they could at the time. I suppose it was a good thing they didn’t give me one after finding out the method they used to choose my little brother’s middle name. His middle name is Sun, the abbreviated version of Sunday, which was the day he was born. Had they done the same with me, my full name could have very well been “Alex Sat Chan”. Eww. I think I’ll go enjoy my non-existent middle name instead.
“Are you related to Jackie Chan?”
Ah, the most popular reference my last name causes people to mention. If I wasn’t such a fan of Jackie Chan’s work I would probably hate him or something given all the times people bring him up in initial introductions.Nowadays, I like to play along with people by telling them he is actually my dad. I would lead them on for a little while until I eventually clarify my statement, explaining that while my dad’s English name is Jackie Chan, he is not THE Jackie Chan. Fun stuff.
“Wait…aren’t you Alex K. Chan from California?
I just did a quick search on Facebook to see how many people have the same exact name as me. I ended up getting over 4,500 hits. There sure are a lot of Alex Chans running around! I even saw girls with the same name as me. Wouldn’t it be weird if I find myself dating one of them one day? Hmm…Anyway, having such a common name has caused me bad mix ups in the past. Two years ago I wrote this entry about a horrible job interview I experienced. Long story short, I waited 3-4 hours for an interviewer to meet me only to find out the organization had contacted the wrong Alex Chan to interview! They said they would call me back to remedy that mistake, but they never did. Those lying punks!
You know, after writing this down I’ve come to realize these annoyances don’t really bother me so much as they humor me now. In the great scheme of things they aren’t so bad at all! If those are the worse issues associated with my name, I think I can live with that. Alex Chan is a fine name

That’s ok, there are only a few Jim Gravys in this world (4 including myself that I know of). One of them got an OWI, and only lives about 150 miles away from me.
i bet you there are alex chan pimps, drug dealers, gangster, and many others who have gotten women pregnant. i’d carry a knife if i were you
I feel you. Emily is one of the most common girls names out there, and it’s been that way forever! The best part? My mom named me because it was uncommon. A year later everyone was naming their kid Emily.
Also, my mom doesn’t have a middle name. Sometimes people think the Ellen in Maryellen is her middle name but Maryellen is one word not two in her case. So no I don’t think it’s all that weird.
I understand how you feel. I just got a new phone and proceeded to text all my contacts my new number when I got. “Which Michelle is this?” =____________= ; apparently; A few people knew too many Michelles. I can’t tell you how annoying this is. And to make you feel better Alex, I had a girl in my class named Michelle too >.> And the fact that my last name is so common in the hispanic world, I get a lot of “are you mexican?” I’m not btw. I can’t tell you how annoying my name is. Though for better or worse, it’s my name.
I feel sorry for my bf..his name is Jose and his entire name is ridiculous. I feel sorry for him. He even has a Jr. at the end of his name.
But yeah, at least try to enjoy it you know? Though I understand how you’re feeling. I’ve wanted so much to change my name..oh boy. One day I think I will..
What annoys me most about my name is when people spell it incorrectly at the dumbest of times. Like on Facebook, where it’s correct spelling is plastered everywhere for all to see, yet I still get notifications where people spell it wrong. Right underneath the correct spelling. Cracks me up.
Oh, my name is Robyn.
And I like your name!
Haha I get annoyed by my name too. It’s Joanna Power. People always think they’re clever in asking me if I’m related to Austin Powers. And people always misspell Power by adding an S to the end. And I also don’t have a middle name, I get the same reactions to that lol.
I think I can beat you with humiliating stories regarding my distinctive name:
My full Chinese name is Sieu Ngo. Trying to pronounce it all at once can be awkward. I had a substitute teacher try to pronounce it as sea gull.
Jackie Chan hung out in my town for a summer.
You should definitely date and marry an alex chan. People would be very confused as to whether you’re gay or straight
.
I think I can understand your problem. In my case the situation is different. My dad’s name was George Alfred Birch and I was his firstborn son. So my parents named me after him but called me George DAVID Birch to make my name different. But they always called me David (my middle name) to keep our names separate.
The only problem is that when I grew up, various agencies would ask to see my driver’s license. Then I found they all wanted to call me ‘George,’ which I regarded as Dad’s name. I long ago gave up trying to set everyone straight on my name. I like my name, David, although it’s surprising how often I am still called ‘George!’
David
I’ve gotten quite a few texts over the years meant for someone’s mom because of my name starting with Mo. mine is more humorous than annoying though and it doesn’t happen often.
My name is so generic, I actually saw the whole thing – first middle AND last - as one of those example names in a high school textbook once. Hate it.
And people butt dial me all the time despite it being highly unlikely that I’m first on their contacts list, even if they put me in as “Elizabeth” which hardly anyone does. Bizarre.
I get the random butt dials all the time.
Oh… and I’m pretty sure you’re related to Jackie Chan.
Haha well I like your name, it sounds nice.
People tell me my first name sounds like a boy’s and my middle name is too hard to prononce…so yeah. I guess everyone has their complaints!
Those lying punks!
I got the Jackie Chan comment all the time in high school. It was really annoying. Eventually I started saying yes and the bullies stopped picking on me.
Haha I don’t have a middle name either, and there are a ton of people with my same name too, but at least I don’t get butt dialed ^^
@whoosh90 - that’s not even a hard choice…
thank god I’m a Zack.
Why, yes it is a fine name! =D …Alex sat.. lmao.
LOL Talk about dating yourself! That’d just be creepy to be like “I’m Alex and this is my wife Alex” eeww!!
I think it’d be annoying to get butt dialed, I don’t have that problem but I have other issues with my name, April.. let’s see..
everytime I meet someone and/or they know my name (usually after they know me) they are like “may, june, er, july, august..” etc and on down the list of months until they come to my name. They think it’s funny, I guess they don’t realize how many people do the EXACT SAME thing, until I have to sit there and smile and act like their joke is cute. Yeah, it was cute the 1st and 2nd time someone did that.. now it’s just annoying, and all I think about when they are doing it is holding my hands to my sides so I don’t strangle them!! lol
Then, you get April Fool’s Day. Oh this was a real kicker back in elementary school and middle school.
Then there is the month of April altogether, you go around for the entire month hearing your name over and over, and always looking up to think someone is talking to you or about you, and then you realize they are only talking about dates in the month.
Then you have something that NO one would probably ever realize unless their name is April. When I was in elementary school the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was THE show to watch, very popular. There just happened to be a reporter on the show who was named..you guessed it: April. So the kids in elementary school, funny kids they were, thought it was hilarious to always ask me where my pen and paper/notepad were.
So really.. being butt dialed isn’t that bad. LOL
LOLL I don’t think my name has many funny instances…. although I do butt dial people all the time!!!!!!!
Your name is too common. But at least you didn’t have a hard time spelling it out in pre-school.
loool. Chan ftw (that is my last name too). It kinda sucks sometimes to have your first and surname to be in the top of the alphabet but then again it has its benefits, too.
And “Alex Chan” is easy to spell, it’s not a phonetic mess to pronounce, and there are only TWO syllables!!! Can’t ask more!!
I have such a common girl name. Jessica was apparently popular in the 80s. I knew a Jessica every year of schooling and somehow I always ended up best friends with them. Kids would scream out “JESSICA!” and laugh when we would both turn around. Apparently that was a funny thing to do, um. Yeah. So not cute having the same name as so many people.
@ItIsAllGravy - So that’s where your name comes from! I did not know that.
@hilaw - You’re right, I should worry about that. I have wondered if any interviewer has looked me up and found a bad Alex Chan and thought he was me. Oy!
@SexyGamerGirl - Was the name Emily not common before? Seems pretty popular. I haven’t heard Maryellen before though!
@Parsimony - Oh definitely you beat me haha. Fortunately my name isn’t too hard to pronounce, but I do remember old teachers pronouncing my last name as “Chain”. Huh?
@mycontinuity - what was he doing there? Shooting a movie?
Lol it’s like they think Jackie Chan is the only famous azn lol
that’s funny though they give me the lucy lu comment ><or brenda songs
Alex Chan is a good name, even if it is really common. Mine is 20 letters long; I can never reveal it because people could track me down instantaneously. Plus it takes me a really long time to sign things, haha.
@re_pose - Thanks Robin! (j/k Robyn haha)
@Hinase - Oh, is he one of those that have 5-6 names in their full name? My friend has a name like that, with the initials spelling out RATS haha.
@quasarglow - Ah good to see a fellow no middle name person! Your last name is awesome. Kanye West wrote a song with your name! Hmm actually, not sure if you would interpret that as a good thing or not =P
@whoosh90 - I probably would be too distracted dating someone with the same name as me X_X
@Grampa_David - I can see why agencies would initially think to call you by your given first name. Have you ever thought about legally changing your first name?
@Roadlesstaken - As with you, I’ve always been happy with my name the way it is. I customarily sign my checks: G. David Birch. And if some people insist on called me George, I’ve grown not to mind it! Thanks for the suggestion though.
You don’t know how lucky you are. My last name is Gerber. Yes, like the baby food company, the car dealership, the toilet company, and the knife company. And no, no relation.
@JustPlainMorgie - haha nice! First time hearing something like that. Remember any good ones?
@TheLizarellaProject - that is bizarre. Are they usually people that regularly call you? They could have accidentally but dialed you through their recent contacts.
@fLiPgUy31O - I am, he’s my father! Care to know more?
@imTHEmeowMIXcat - Now I’m curious, what is your middle name?
@kaiori - I still have a slight grudge against that organization. Grr…
@irene408 - Oh those were the fun years huh? Was your last name Chan as well, or were they saying that just because you’re Asian?
Then you would LITERALLY be Mr. & Mrs. Alex Chan
AWESOME.
Your tellin’ me dude- I’m an ‘Ashley B.’ Talk about common. lol
Nope, it’s almost exclusively people I never actually talk to other than texting once a month or less, sometimes people I didn’t even know still had my number as I had deleted theirs long before. It’s weird. I think subconsciously people just love me lol.
@Roadlesstaken - hahah i remember getting one once that was like “what kind of smoothies do they have?” from a guy i don’t really ever talk to. and i’m just like “..what?” “oh sorry that was for my mom” hahahah
@Roadlesstaken - Yup, he does though it’s just odd. >.> RATS! Haha, that’s awesome!
@ailili - Did your parents just decide not to give you one?
@CaKaLusa - But wait, you’re not a Zack…
@nov_way - Thank goodness that didn’t come to be!
@AmeliaHart - That’s where screen locks come in!
@oxyGENE_08 - Did you have a hard time spelling yours? Yours doesn’t seem too bad, except maybe the last name.
@drung888 - I could have been named Al An instead. That’s simpler! Hmm, just noticed that also spells Alan haha.
@Keeko1 - What type of benefits come to mind for you?
@Fireflywishes - those examples definitely beats mine! Your comment alone would have made for a good post.
Alex the Lion!
@JessxMaxine - You know, there did seem to be a high proportion of Jessicas in my elementary classes. I was one of those people that used to call out Jessica to see who would turn….sorry!
@hollywoodfever91 - Bruce Lee was another one I heard as a child, but that died down.
@Lynn1013 - yeah that’s a downside to having a unique name. Having such a short, common name makes me feel more comfortable revealing it here.
@smgcrossfire - Ahh, yes I’m sure you have it worse than me haha
@sp1r1t_0f_hearts - Would it really be??
@cantliveaday - I know a couple of those actually!
Better than Valeria. “Malaria? What? Your name is Malaria? Isn’t that a disease???”
alex sat. hahahahahaha. nice. my mother doesn’t have a middle name, either.
Oh gosh. You must really hate me for butt dialing you that one time! I’m sorrryyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!
Yes, “Alex” is pretty high up in the butt dialing list but I feel especially bad for the Aarons I know.
Jackie Chan is awesome.
If you gave me your phone number, you would be safe. I’m friends with two Abbys. Also, I have two middle names. You can have one if you want.
@Roadlesstaken - My full name is quite long. Around 20 Characters. O_o
@s_h_a_sha - never gonna let that go huh? Haha you’re lucky that nickname has grown on me
@eomona - Valeria is a nice sounding name =)
@HeLLo_Bianca - Yes, absolutely hate you!!!! Haha no worries, at least I talk to you. The ones I don’t look forward to are when people that I haven’t talked to in a long time butt dial me. Very awkward.
@christao408 - I don’t! hehe
@randaness - Is this your way of asking me for my phone number? Hmm?
@Roadlesstaken - Sure, why not. And if you have Jackie Chan’s number, I’ll take that, too!
ouch, especially to the last one. WTF!? O___O.
@Roadlesstaken - LOL! Of COURSE you do! haha.
Not to be confused with Alex Chen, Alex Chang, Alex Cheng or Alex Chung
Cuz thats how us asian people roll!
I get butt-dialed all the time.
Once someone butt-dialed me, and instead of hanging up I just listened for about 10 minutes. Apparently he likes going to loud parties and talks rather loudly XD.
My name starts with a C…you would think it would be a rare occurrence…but it’s not -_-
@Roadlesstaken - Thanks
I just wish people would stop making fun of me for it =__= I could go by Nicole, since that’s part of my first name, but there are too many Nicoles out there.
I get the Bruce Lee, man. I don’t even know if I should be annoyed or weird about it. haha My name isn’t common, but everyone confuses me with Jenny or they spell my name wrong even if I say it’s just jenny with an A instead. They somehow don’t know where to put the A. -___- Lameeee.
hahaha….. well i dont think u can top me. asian guys and video games = not fun.
hahahahaha!XD related to jackie chanXDoh got to love somewhat racist jokes i love the mexican ones XD i can never butt dial for my phone is a flip phone so its impossibleXD and i wish people would butt dial me XD i wouldnt mind but my name is uncommonXD
Try being an Adelynne. Ha. I get butt-dialed probably more than you
My cousin is Alex Chang
@nerdyveggiegirl - too many variations!
@timemeanslegend - I’ve done that before, just stay on to see if I hear any juicy details haha
@xchinkylaydee - I think the first time I put your number into my phone I had it as Jannie =P
@suuperstar - Remember when we first became friends on FB? It was a girl who made that comment haha
@itsayanav - Trust me, being butt dialed isn’t all that cracked up to be (pun intended)
@spanishdaisy - Awesome! More people should have your number then so I don’t get butt dialed muhahaha
@a_drunken_cellist - I know a couple of those IRL
@Roadlesstaken - You meanie.
My first name is Kirsten, and it gives people an aneurysm trying to pronounce it. Apparently, and I only discovered this about a year ago, I have a very unusual spelling for the pronunciation — I guess it’s supposed to be “Kiersten”? Looks weird to me. Most people either call me Kursten, or — my favorite — Kristen. Are you dyslexic???
I don’t have a middle name either actually well besides my Chinese name which none of my friends understand so I just say I don’t have one lol
You have such a good attitude about it. Wonderful isn’t it, when you really look at it through a wider lens, it really doesn’t seem all that bad, minuscule, in fact; finding humor in it is a positive way to go about it. I got a chuckle from reading about your non-existent middle name and the bit about your father’s English name being Jackie Chan.
Hmm. I’ll see your Alex Chan and raise you a Jen Kim. Even my Korean name is pretty common. Makes it harder for people to stalk me at least, I guess.
@Roadlesstaken - SEEE, haha jk. It’s cool because you’re cool. :]
This makes me glad I’m the only one of me out there.
@Roadlesstaken - HAHAHAH! I don’t care if it’ll make me look like a bad dad for getting laughs at the expense of someone else, I am soooo naming my first kid Al An.
And he/she will hate me for giving them a name whose signature is too easy to counterfeit.
aw man isn’t it amazing how so many people can have the same name as you or anyone in general? like the last name of smith, rodriguez, etc? especially on facebook where you can only think, ‘hm what if someone with the same name as me has the same some what lifestyle as me?’ lol that’d be so bizarre!
LOL #1 and #2 happen to me all the time too. haha
And besides butt calling me, some of my friends who need someone to talk to or rant to would be like: “Oh you were the first one on my contacts.” XD As for the middle name thing, some people also ask why I only have 2 characters in my Chinese name instead of the “usual” 3 characters. lol
But in the end, I do find these to be just funny and not annoyances…that is…unless they mistakenly call me 2348 times and leave a bunch of super long voicemails full of random noises. >:O
do you know sin chan?
Idk why, i think ur name really suits you (dnt ask me why, coz I dnt know).
When I was in secondary school, I have similar name with a guy from the same class with different surname, whenever teacher calls our (given) name, we would answer at the same time. Hahaha he has a girly name (or do I have a boyish name?).
Well, I cant relate much but I would love to have been named Jackie Chan but I’m not
I may call my kid Jackie Chan though. Hmmm
haha this made me giggle alot. I getcha though because my name is ale and its so close on the list i get the random butt dials which intiates awkward convos lol. YOur middle name would have been pretty fun i must say but hey atleast your middle name isnt ago i cant even comment on taht lol. haha the jackie chan part killed me. you too funny. this made my day.
@Roadlesstaken - my last name is Chan. those were fun days indeed.
I’m right there with you. Ashley is a name that gets butt dialed all the time. And I love it when someone yells the name Ashley, and when I turn around they reply “Not YOU Ashley, the other Ashley”. Ugh. Not to mention I respond every time someone says the word “Actually.” “Actually”…”Ashley”…its really hard to sleep through lectures at school when I keep thinking the professor is saying my name. So yea…I feel ya
)
@thepsychoticraccoon - Is it pronounce the same way as Kirsten Dunst? If so, that’s not hard to say!
@jackielovesyou_x3 - So you Chinese name ended up being your middle name? I have several friends that are like that
@Southeast_Beauty - yeah it’s really not bad at all. It would suck to have other names…like what if I had the same name as some bad celebrity? What if my name was Spencer Pratt?! Aiya.
@noodley - That’s how I think of it too. With more common name folks around it will be harder for people to track me down somewhat
@band_geek3000 - have you ever Googled yourself to see if anyone else pops up?
@xxLilPauliexx - I always thought there was like a twin somewhere out there who has a very similar life/characteristics as me!
At least your first name is not “Jackie” or “Charlie”.
I LOVE that about your Dad. I’ve read THE Jackie’s bio…he’s had quite a life. I admire the man.

Your name IS a fine name, and you ARE a fine young man! Find the humor in the annoyances.
Heck, at least they made for a great Xanga post!
@dUhGrL - Good to see their reasoning for contacting you is so special =P
@maniacsicko - I do not, who is that?
@stray_sparrow - Ooo that must have been weird. Did you two ever hang out?
@bmojsilo - I’ve joked about doing that, naming both my son and daughter Jackie haha. Oh they would hate me.
@boyhnc - Glad you enjoyed this!
@QuietlySurrender - Whoa, you’re right. Didn’t realize how similar Ashley and Actually sound!
@adamswomanlost - Jackie Chan is definitely admirable, both THE Jackie Chan and my dad =)
@Roadlesstaken - I have. My full name only comes up with very limited hits about me, and my first and last name come up with stuff about me and people who have my last name and my first name as their middle name.
@Roadlesstaken - haha, you can put jackie as a middle name
I kept calling the first person in my phone book so i put my number first with the name “AAAA” no harm done
@Roadlesstaken - It is actually, but for some reason it just doesn’t process in people’s heads. Like, it hits a wall somewhere, and they can’t comprehend it. I’ve actually given up on correcting a few people after a while and just let them call me Kursten.
@Roadlesstaken - Hahahaha way to put things in perspective!
I feel your pain!
My mother just got a blackberry and she is a ‘big’ person so the pressure from the front pockets of her jeans smashes her phone and she calls me, my sister, and our dad constantly! And it only happens to the 3 of us, no one else except maybe her sister or dad once a month. As for the Middle name issue… It wasn’t until I got into high school that I finally found out that my parents had middle names!!! No one ever told me what their middle names were, my dad goes by both his first and middle name depending on who you talk to, Family calls him Stan and the military calls him Robert-most military buddies go by stan- my dad’s name is Robert Stanly L. and so its always ‘Stan’ even to his mother and my mom. In my parents’ house my name is a one word command: “MEGAN ASHLEY!!!!!!” meaning that I got in trouble… People always ask if I’m related to George Lucas (creater of Star Wars) because my last name is Lucus. My dad goes up to a local hockey player with the same last name except his name is spelled L-U-C-A-S and we are spelled L-U-C-U-S, dad said “Hey we’re lucus’ too except we are US not AS(s)” I’m surprised the guy didn’t deck my dad for calling him an ‘ass’. Lucky for me I have to wait one more year to have a new last name, thank god for marriage!!!!
@dance_thru_life3 - Aw, now that’s some caring!
@Mori_san - Haha how did that hockey player respond?
@Roadlesstaken - Of course! My name is Amanda, so i get it sometimes too, but not as often.
I don’t have a middle name either.
We rock!
oh alex.
It’s easy to spell, easy to pronouce.
“lena hong” is not too common though… and people butcher my name SOMEHOW all the time
and i also dont have a middle name
@ordinary_gir1 - Lena Hong rolls off the tongue the same was as Alex Chan does. For real! Say both names out loud.
@XxWiltedRosexX - woop woop!
Wow I feel like an idiot for not even realizing that you have the same last name as Jackie Chan.
Haha, that’s funny that you bring this up since recently it has surfaced that there’s a 35 yr old Justin Bieber who gets a ton of calls just bc of his name…it must be horrible to have all those mix ups. O_O
@TayCif - I suppose I can forgive you for that
@phosphor_stars - Poor guy. He must hate THE Justin Bieber now.
I love my name, but I hated getting the same stupid question all through high school: “Hey Victoria, WHAT’S YOUR SECRET?!” Oy. Everyone from little brothers to 80 yr old men at the grocery store where I worked would ask me the same stupid question. And every single one of them thought they were being hilarious. I’ve hated the store ever since.
Doesn’t mean I never shop there, though. :p
As for last name trouble, we get the “are you related to ” question all the time. But I still like my name, when all’s said and done. ^_^
~V
Lol. I share the first “annoyance” as you..I get “accidental” calls from people all the time coz my names starts with “A.” Having a middle name could actually be a bad thing. My middle name is “To” (Viet name also) and people used to find it odd & when I wrote my name as the way it is in Viet, To An, they would mistakening think “Toan” (a boy’s name) and I’d have girls trying to flirt with me in chatrooms. -_-* Unlike you, I think my name is actually not too common. I don’t know any other “An Huynh”s (although people tend to misspell it as “Ann”). All in all, a name’s just a name..nothing bad..unless your name is “Shithead” (actual name pronounced “sha-teed) than it’s pretty bad.
@TheMarriedFreshman - Oh man, have I accidentally done that to you when I ask for your (Xanga) secret??
@Babieboo_Annie - Wait, people are actually named that?
I get the “Are you related to Lucy Liu?” question -_- and often used as a pickup line. Gross. I don’t have a middle name either and my name’s shorter than yours…AHHA..6 letters! People still mispronounce it though. I definitely had my name mispronounced during my college graduation. My friends and family were a little confused. -_-
@sweetfaced_profanity - Ah you’re one of the few that do have full names shorter than mine! It would have been funny if my name was just Al An, and that itself can be combined to form Alan!
@Roadlesstaken - lol same! ever see how i met your mother where they find their dopplegangers? haha i always think i’ll find one of myself like that or someone who looks strangely like me, but racially different. haha
I had no idea you didn’t have a middle name. That’s really cool. XD
I’ve only met one other person named Dana, and it’s a he. Look up my Dana Jordan on FB and you’ll get like 21375892 hits. >.> That’s why I have my middle on there as well, LOL.
@HisKeiki - Oh yeah, didn’t you say you were considering adding certain Xanga friends on FB? *Cough like me*
@Roadlesstaken - Surprisingly, yes! I had a teacher who was afraid to say the guy’s name coz of how it was spelled. He was like “Umm..[says last name]..how do you say your first name?” lol
@Roadlesstaken - Hahaha, not that I can remember. As long as you did it as a regular question instead of thinking it was clever, you’re off the hook. If you think it’s funny still, I give you a glare and then you’re free to go.
i used to hate my name… but when i realized how unique it was, i loved it. whenever the teacher’s called “peggy” i knew it was only me. and who else has the last name “no”?! no one really.. very rare.. and an ASIAN one to say the least… but i actually get butt dialed too sometimes. i dunno why o.O
@peGGanOra - No is a unique last name. Do you often have people joke around with you by saying Peggy No as if you were a pet or little child? i.e. “Peggy..No! Pegggyy…NO!” =P
@Roadlesstaken - yep.. PRETTY old joke.. LOL.. i have yet to hear an original one yet
hahah! i loved this blog entry.
I have the same problem with getting butt dialed.. as my name (Alfie) is on the top of most of my friend’s list. But.. it’s interesting sometimes because when I puck up, i’m able to hear into some conversations. I’m just glad there hasn’t been anything awkward for me to hear on the other end (hearing people get intimate). x] That might be a great story to tell one day.
@AlfieNgoSYOU - I occasionally stay on butt calls just to see if I hear any juicy details hehehe.
So, I do not actually consider this may have success.
