Meet the Family (Presented in Badly Spoken Espanol!)
I know a lot of you were thinking, “Gee willikers Alex, I sure wish your little brother could describe your family to us. You know what would make it even better? If he narrated it all in Spanish! Make sure the accent is poor and the grammar is all over the place though.” Well, I guess I can satisfy your wish:
In case you were wondering, this was a Spanish project I helped my brother do for his 1st year Spanish course. Despite some goofs (especially the errors he made saying the ages…whoops, I should have reviewed his lines!), I think overall it went pretty well. He better get a high grade because I spent a good amount of time editing that for him at the last minute (hence some hard cuts). Make sure you don’t miss the very last scene in the video. I still can’t believe my brother made my grandma do that.

I’ll be away for the next 5 days because my friend from San Diego (the Xangan formally known as strawberries_and_honey) is visiting the East Coast. By the end of all this we will have traveled through MD, DC, NY, and PA visiting a bunch of Xangans at those places. There’s a chance we might even meet up with a very special guest in NY! Don’t want to say who yet just in case it doesn’t work out, but I sure hope it does. See you guys in a few days!

I LOVE THE LAST SCENE! It reminds me of Peter Chao of Youtube tame: “Chao outside!”. I like the editing, though theres some hard cuts it was pretty good. Though i cant grade him on his Spanish skills, i only know French.

it was amusing when he was using it with your mom+grandma, though.. “she is ___ years old” … I was thinking… for bonus smiles, he should’ve put ” ____ years young.” loll, even if it would’ve been further incorrect, haha. Hopefully he sticks with the language.. Oh, and remind him ano has the ~ symbol above the n, so it should be pronounced /ahn-yo/
hahahahaha. yeah he is in the good grade range but he managed to say everyone’s age wrong and there was a few moments of spanglish lol. your little brother is adorable though and you were funny ignoring him as usual. your mom is super cute =] and LOL @ your grandma.
movie suggestion: Volver by Almodovar. There is penelope cruz, a dead body, and farting. Sound interesting already? I didn’t even tell you that penelope also sweeps off a grave in the beginning. I suggest subtitled english or chinese because dubs suck in live action.
Eh, the accent will come with time (I was a Spanish minor in college). I can’t believe that he got your grandma to do that. Too funny!

My dad would understand this but I don’t. But I absolutely enjoyed it. The 2 of you look a lot like your dad. I loved how your grandmother was included as well. She’s knitting! (which you wrote about before)

I did a spanish project last year that was like that, except we had to do voice recordings on a slide show and then present them to the class. It was funny, ’cause a lot of people spoke waaay too loudly while recording, so most of the times when switching between people’s slide shows, it would start as “HOLA. ME LLAMO DANI!”, hahaha.

@Roadlesstaken - My husband is a Soldier and dealing with the Army as a Soldier’s wife can be very overwhelming. I had just gotten done reading an email that gave me some unexpected news so the video was a nice way take my mind off of it.

Oh my goodness, this was the best one yet (but I”m a Spanish teacher, so I’m biased
)!!! Despite the grammatical errors, I give him props for doing it fairly smoothly (even if part of that is due to edits) and with confidence. Not many Spanish 1 students can do that.
