US Open Labor Day Weekend Trip (Pictures and Videos Inside!)
Wow, I certainly got lucky getting this trip to actually take place! I’ve been meaning to go to the US Open in the past but something always came up. I was losing faith that I would go this year until I got a call from a member at my club last Monday, saying he had extra tickets he needed to get rid of. After making a few phone calls, I manage to secure Saturday and Sunday day session tickets at a very low rate and got a couple of my friends to go up with me very last minute.
We took a megabus up to New York early Saturday morning. However, for funsies lets just say I got up there this way:
My almost accurate (
) reenactment of how I got up to the US Open
We ended up staying there for about 9 hours on Saturday and 6 hours on Sunday. We certainly saw a lot during that time. I won’t mention everybody we saw, but I’ll go over the highlights.
On Saturday, my friends and I met up with Rosalie (pasaway4eva) for the eventful day session.
The very first player we watched was Maria Kirilenko whom (in my opinion) is the hottest tennis player playing now. I sure had a big grin watching her play! Very attractive seeing a girl who not only looks great but also plays tennis great.
Seeing my favorite tennis player, Rafael Nadal, in person. I can now cross that off my bucket list after finding him practicing on a hidden court. Woohoo!
As you may have saw in my video at the beginning of this entry, we visited the Unisphere that was right outside of the tournament. It was a rather warm day, so what would anyone do? That’s right, we ran through the water fountains!
Sunday was Kim’s (xkthily) turn to come watch the US Open with us. Who would have thought I would have gotten the chance to hang out with her twice in such a short period? Very happy that it worked out that way.
Hmm I don’t know, I don’t trust that Oreo. He seems a bit too excited with Kim there…Hey, it’s trueOverall, how was my first US Open experience? I guess if I have to describe it all in one word, I have to say it was fantastic! What a satisfying experience and I hope to visit that tournament again in the near future.
See you later US Open!*Bonus Clip*In case you were wondering, this is a side effect of me when I’m tired:
Yes, I know I know…

Haha looks like a lot of fun. The first video was epic. Good stuff.
I wish I had that Unisphere in my front yard. It’s still pretty hot over here in LA. =/

Cool, glad you have fun and the weather was great. Later..
@fLiPgUy31O - Still hot? It’s been getting quite chilly over here. Fall’s a coming!
@ch0w - Very fortunate. I definitely saw many ways for this weekend to have sucked.
@strawberries_and_honey - Yeah me too. How did it go by the way? What did you guys do?
@SamyuktaR - =D . Trust me, I know how lucky I was. I’m sooo happy with my experience.
@nomilktoday - thanks, it was! I highly recommend the experience.
@sonychak - Sharapova’s not bad; you can have her. I’ll take out Maria Kirilenko!
@Jenzies - It was a sight. I finally saw the thing that the UFO crashes into at the end of MIB!
@SuperRat - The weather was pretty cooperative this weekend. If it had rained I would have been gloomy.
nice singing
lol
but anyways…ahh im so jealous you got to go. I wish i couldve went. from the pics, it looked like lotsa fun.
and omg NADAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O_O so jealousssss…
I hope you folks had some sunscreen with the sun blazing away. I guess the video was a prelude to your upcoming song and dance routine?
@CatherineMarshmallow - I was about to sing more, but thankfully my friend interrupted me hehe.
@ElusiveWords - Prelude? Hmm, perhaps so! Oh unfortunately the sunscreen we brought got confiscated at the gate, so I actually didn’t have any. My face is definitely feeling that effect now =/
ohh man, kirilenko!!
@subaru3169 - Oh, a fellow Kirilenko fan? She’s only a year younger than me; think I have a chance? (haha just humor me, I already know the real answer).
you’ve been busy! grad school? ..i did not know this. “for funsies” hahaha i’m enjoying the lingo. lol.
wow, this is great…almost as good as if i had been there myself. psh..of course not! =P but i can live vicariously through this blog entry. hahaa. fantastic pics..Nadal – awesome! Maria..figures. =P thanks for sharing these. i look forward to the videos too =)
@Roadlesstaken - haha of course you do, strut your stuff on court and she’ll be silly putty in your hands=P
I’m glad I was able to go to the U.S Open. Thank you SO much for inviting me!! =) We got to hang out twice in a three week time span! Who knows, maybe again next weekend? Haha I’ll definitely take you to get soup dumplings and Quickly’s next time.
I’m insanely jealous! Did you get one of those huge tennis balls? They’re bloody awesome. And I agree: Kirilenko is gorgeous.
@CuaSo - Nah, didn’t get the ball because it freakin’ cost 40 bucks! I could get one at Five Below for, well 5 bucks haha.
@YouTOme - Oh which videos were you referring to, the Nadal videos? If so, the links are hyperlinked above. Yup, grad school started for me last Tuesday. I’m so not in school mode yet.
@subaru3169 - Oh if only it was that easy…haha but I appreciate the encouragement.
@xkthily - Yes for sure! I should know by tomorrow if I will be able to go up to NY again this week. I really wanna try these so called soup dumplings. They better be delicious!
@Roadlesstaken - yep. thanks =)
so jealous! all i get to do is watch it on tv.. =(
i used to play tennis.
i gave up<3
LMFAO! you actually went through that teleportation idea of yours! haha nice one alex!
and how dare you posted that second video?? lol well, actually i didn’t sing so no harm done. haha
we failed at making a video dancing our running man though..
good times good times xD
P.S. i love it how you didn’t even get darell’s face when he was singing! i’m gonna try to write about that day too, though i don’t really have much friends as you do so it really wont matter. but maybe if i say “things you dont know abt roadlesstaken” they’ll be intrigued and read, no? lol
I thought Nadal had an injury. He’s back?
@stickiirice - There were times when we had to sit far back in the main stadiums that I might as well have just been watching tv haha.
@immaairheadxl - You an always start back up again
@pasaway4eva - Well, if it’s a good enough post perhaps I’ll recommend it. Better be no slander!!!
@Meowmeowkimmaee - His abdominals are apparently troubling him, but he’s truckin’ through. Of course, his knees are always a little weary.
Looks like you had a great time.
that’s so awesome! i love the pics you took. ahhahah your video was also funny.
@Thoughts_Of_P - Indeed I did =D
@wyrdkismet - Glad you liked it!
Lucky! I had to watch it on TV.
I don’t know what these US Open events are…haha, but apparently it’s dealing with tennis.
Haha, how did you meet up with kim twice in such a short time?!
that looks like an amazing day
(btw, sorry I didn’t reply to your message xD I only signed on today and saw it in my inbox)
oooo, I wanna go someday…
@JL789 - TVs still good. There were times when I sat all the way in the back of a stadium where I thought I would rather watch it on an HD tv haha
@sincerely_winnie - You would be correct! How did we meet twice? Happenstance I suppose. First time she just happened to come down to DC on a day I was sorta free, and I just happen to go up to the NY on the day right after she moved in for college. Loved how that worked out.
@nepenthium - Ah gotcha. It’s okay, I most likely wouldn’t have been able to hang out because I was pretty much stuck over at the US Open or the hotel.
@bundleoflisa - I highly recommend it. Fun stuff!
Maria Kirilenko is one fine girl
Did u get to go into Arthur Ashe Stadium?
@Dylan_Disast3r - nah, my tickets were ground passes that let me in everywhere else but that stadium. For those matches I just had to watch on the big screen right outside that stadium.
I watched for you on TV!
Glad I’m not the only bad singer on Xanga
What do you use to edit your videos? Nice job!
That brings back memories of when I used to attend pro games…I once got Andy Roddick’s autograph, but lost it….glad you had an amazing time, though!
Dang, Maria Kirilenko has a nice body. Did you got really wet from running through the water? Haha.
- Iso_
@CareyGLY - What are you talking about, I’m an AMAZING singer. ……
Oh I just use the iMovie to edit. Pretty easy I say.
@tenshii_rage - Eh, autographs are overrated. They’re usually illegible scribbles =P . Which pro events have you gone to?
@falconfraudless - The first time I went through I got pretty wet. I was trying to go through the less water area but totally messed that up.
And hell yes does Kirilenko got a body 0_0
LOL…sorry…my speakers must have been broken!
Damn…foiled by Apple again!
that looks amazing. Glad you got to cross off one more from your list. how much do those tickets usually go for?
@AzureRecollections - well the ground passes I got were 55 dollars, but they were costing more if you bought them late as it was Labor Day weekend. The stadium reserved seats probably go a whole lot more.
@Roadlesstaken - sweet deal! The only games i’ve ever gone too are bball ones xD
Maria Kirilenko is the hottest tennis player right now? hmm, google, here i come… haha
i didn’t know you like big balls?
@maniacsicko - Big balls are fun to play with
Looks like a very fascinating event plus attention-grapping photos and video clip.
OMG you saw NADAL?! you’re sooooooooo lucky!! i wish i could see him, no matter playing games or in person.
@luv_pink_sammi - seeing him made my trip. He’s my favorite tennis player!
Oh man! I went on Wednesday, the 2nd. Looks like you had a good time.
@Rhia_Pyrithea - It was fun, and we sure were lucky to have good weather unlike how it is now
@Roadlesstaken - Yeah, definitely. The weather now is so blehhhh.
Gee, guess I’m late w/ all these posts. Glad you had fun. Yayyyayayayayy. Hope you get to go again!!!
@HelloKitty0809 - it’s okay you’re late, as long as came here at the end
lmao at the waterfalls thing.
DDDDDD jake gyllenhaal.
i’m telling you, you’ve been incredibly lucky to have all of this included in your life.
it looks like amazing fun! i hope one day that i’ll get to see my idol.
*i am a radio-television-film major after all*
@PiscesPhishie - Oh yes, and when you get all the hook ups remember me alright? Take me with you!
@Roadlesstaken - lol. i won’t forget.
