San Diego Trip: The Sequel (Recap with Pics and Videos)
I’m back from my week long San Diego trip, my second visit there in the past few months. I saw even more areas of San Diego I didn’t get to see last time I went. The weather was also a whole lot better this time around, with temperatures consistently in the 70s and sunny (unlike over here in MD -_- ). Overall, it was a very fun time even though it didn’t go exactly as I had imagined (more details later).
Note: Big post below. Feel free to just skim through
Sea World
wutuwaitn4, strawberries_and_honey and me in front of Sea World, CAWhat a great time! To be honest, I think I enjoyed going to Sea World more than the San Diego Zoo. The shows were a lot of fun to watch, especially the Shamu, sea lions, and pets show.
Here’s a video with all the mini clips I took throughout the day:
Here’s another video of the Beyonce routine the sea lions did at the show:
Finally, some random pictures at Sea World (click to enlarge):
La Jolla Squirrels
The next couple of days were more laid back. I originally thought I was going to hang out with this other person, but she completely flaked out on me. Pretty disappointed, but I’ll digress on the details for now.
So while at La Jolla, I found out that squirrels over here sure aren’t shy. While reading, I look up to see the following:
OMG lil_squirrel4evers everywhere! They really weren’t afraid at all! Look at them surrounding us, ready to pounce:
Xanga TV
Since strawberries_and_honey had a webcam on her laptop (which I currently don’t have), we decided to do an impromptu live stream while I was over here! We were thinking about doing a collab vlog, but I didn’t feel like editing and planning something out haha.
For my very first XTV it actually went pretty well. Thanks to everyone that showed up! You definitely made it more interesting and funny.
If you missed out, you can actually go watch the archived footage by going to the bottom of my main page and clicking on that option. It’s an hour and a half long just to warn you, but you can skip through by changing the time (might have to fiddle around and change it to army time; let me know if you have any troubles). Try to see if you can spot some of the following: breadstick tennis, Cloverfield vision, nacho eating, and miscommunications up the wazoo (actually, this probably won’t be too hard to find).
P.S. Just to clear things up; she and I are not romantically together! Haha, the chatters were having a lot of fun messing with her about that.
Old High School Friend Reunion
On my very last day out here, I hung out with an old high school friend that I haven’t seen in over 5 years. That was very much a last minute plan since my original plans fell through. It’s all good because I ended up doing a lot more stuff with him. Over the course of the day we visited Downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, Mission Beach, Belmont Park, PB Bar & Grill (grrreat fish tacos!), UCSD, and SDSU.
Shots from throughout that day (click to enlarge):
Wee Man Sighting!
I didn’t realized it was him at first, but when I saw another girl secretly snapping a picture of him I decided to join along:
I’m so sneakyHe ended up riding on my plane to Baltimore. I wonder what he was doing over there?
There’s my (very rushed, sorry) recap of my trip to San Diego! This will probably be my last time back there for a long time. I found out my cousins are moving to San Fransisco this summer, so be on the look out for me over there in the future.

Weeeeeeeeeeeee man. SCORE! So your trip was worth it I see.
ohhh niceee…i didn’t know wuwu came too ;D
wow looks like you had a lot of fun
i love the squirrel action shots.
lol i love the sea lion shows at sea world xD they’re so funny and clever
aww looks like you had a lot of fun. I love vacationing in California.
seems like you had a lotta fun (= the squirrels and killer whales are so cute haha
Those pictures remind me of going there when I was a little kid.
Aww glad to see you guys had fun (:
Ahhh I wanna go traveling now!
i got sunburnt. =T
@skillusionz - Oh yeah, Wee Man totally saved it
@asdfghjkieu - Mhmm, he drove all the way from Irvine. I’m glad he did!
@orange_goo - Those squirrels have no fear!
@TLthunderlightTL - I know right? I wasn’t expecting that show to be so good! What’s your favorite act? Mine is that Beyonce skit.
@jhesyka - Same here, such great weather. The biggest downside of going there is the 8 hour airplane travel from MD to there
. How far is CA from you?
@JetaimeMing - Oh those squirrels were cute…until they bite your face off! X_X
@mycontinuity - Yeah, we didn’t ride the Sesame Street rides there except for that 4D show.
@MuchoMahal - Go! What’s stopping you?
@wutuwaitn4 - Haha seriously? It didn’t look like you did. We got sunburnt badly too, and we used sunblock!
@Roadlesstaken - no way! they’re too tiny and little to do such a thing haha maybe cause you picked on it thats why =P
Thanks for sharing the pictures and videos! I especially like the squirrels.
San Francisco? =D! Welcome to the bay!
If/when you’re over here, I completely expect you to hit me up for a tour of Chinatown’s alleyways.
http://www.chinatownalleywaytours.org/
Go to “tour guides” –> “Carmen Ye” –> and you can read my spiel about how amazing our tours are. :]
Aw, those sea lions were so adorable! Did any of you get wet?
i miss seaworld
I’ve never been to Sea World. It looks fun.
@Roadlesstaken - oh dang you live a lot farther then me. It’s just two states away from me so about a 3 hour plane ride. I use to go every year and was suppose to go this summer too but nooo my parents freaked out over the swine flu and canceled our trip because it’s right next to Mexico -.-
I always wanted to go to Sea World, but I never got the chance whenever I went down to California.
SF! the bayyyy :]
i love sea world although i havent gone in a long time
Hey this looked like a really awesome trip! Were you guys in the splash zone area during the shamoo show? oh man your poor camera if that’s the case o.0? Really cool I’ve never been to a zoo or the sea world place, California is one of my hot spots to travel to one day =] Glad to see it was a fun trip and woah you saw the wee man dude! Pretty neat man =]
@Roadlesstaken - lol i’m guessing they change it around every few months or so. I never saw a beyonce act but there was a time when they were making fun of american idol lol
@intoxicatedthrill - Hey I did absolutely nothing but stared back haha
@decembriel - No problem. I really need to get a move on buying a new computer though. It took FOREVER to upload everything.
@xLove_Me_Alwaysx - haha that awesome! Yes, I will make sure to contact you if/when I come visit San Fransisco. How long should I stay if I do go?
@xxthatsmexx - I wanted to, but they didn’t because they said they would feel gross for the rest of the day. Boooo.
@Just_another_life_of_a_girl - What’s stopping you from going back?
@SarahLynn_violin - It really was. Do you like sea animals at all? You’ll definitely get a kick out of this place. We spent about 8 hours there and that’s without riding the rides!
@jhesyka - Eh, the swine flu is overrated. I didn’t get sick at all. Funny thing is that when I came back all my co-workers were sick haha
@Passenger00 - Yeah, I wanted to go last time but didn’t have time. How often you go to CA?
@mi1kandcerea1 - Oh yeah, you live near San Fransisco right? If you came by would you wanna hang out?
@xxLilPauliexx - Yeah CA is a great place to visit because there’s so much to see. I haven’t even checked out Northern CA yet!
Nah, we didn’t sit in the splash zone for that very reason haha. It would have been cool if we all had our bathing suits or something.
@TLthunderlightTL - Oh they made fun of American Idol too. I actually had a video clip of that but didn’t post it because it was kinda annoying. It was just the sea lion going “AWAWAWAWAWAWAW”
@Roadlesstaken - I don’t go there very often. the last time i went there was 4 years ago to visit family. Half of my family live in San Francisco, so I feel bad for not going down there often.
i love the squirrels! haha i can never get tired of staring at them. =)
how about you come to dallas
and i show you all the hot girls
@kc_sarah - Would you still love them if they jumped on your face, scratching everything in sight? haha
@immaairheadxl - Hmm I’m intrigued. Maybe you should send some over to MD
who’s the person that you’re secretly taking a picture of at the airport?
@Roadlesstaken - Haha not employed, school for now, and summer school to come
oh you’re back! you’ve been missed~ glad you had fun!
glad you had fun =]
I tell people SF isn’t really that exciting, apart from the famous (stationary) landmarks everyone takes pictures in front of. They tell me I don’t go to enough 18+ places. Go figure.
Stay for at least 4-5 days. First days of travel are devoted to fighting off jet lag, and last days go by too fast!
lol–thanks for sharing with us your pictures and recap of your trip! I have never been to San Diego, but definitely want to go sometime. And lil_squirrels everywhere eh? =P They are cute aren’t they?
Aww! The squirrels in Davis are always running away.
I loved how you went into stalker mode after someone else did. ;P
AWW looks like you had a blast… I’m so jealous. I miss Cali. =(
OMG! JEALOUS! I love SD. Dream vacation everytime.
Wee-man is all over So Cal. My boyfriend has seen him in other places down here.
La Jolla is really pretty. The weather is always nice.
Sea World makes me hungry for Humungo Sushi!
i always wonder how i could entertain xangans…in sacramento…
we are no NYC nor SD….sighs..
@aJoLLyDork - Wee Man, from Jackass! You don’t recognize him?
@MuchoMahal - Oh yeah, I suppose those could be slighit obstacles =P
@tollyyjoy - psh, you didn’t miss me
@indiechaos - Thanks! Besides one minor problem, everything else was great.
@xLove_Me_Alwaysx - Yeah, 4-5 days sounds about right. Well, I guess we should go to more 18+ places then if I come by!
@lil_squirrel4ever - Yeah, suppose they are. I was nervous though; didn’t wanna take my eyes off them haha.
@karen0z - I didn’t wanna start taking pictures of him just yet in case I had mistaken him for another person haha. We were all very discreet with our picture taking. I was pretending I was listening to music while snapping quick shots between the chair
@xkthily - When was the last time you went? I might go back again in the summer, but not in the San Diego area.
@SUGARCANEkitty - Apparently Wee Man was drinking in downtown Baltimore yesterday haha.
Well, I’m guessing that wasn’t you I saw at Fashion Mall when I went. I thought I saw someone who looked like you. She even gave me a sorta knowing look.
@bluedreamer85 - Isn’t Sacramento the capital of CA? There’s gotta be some stuff to see there! Any landmarks?
@Roadlesstaken - oh, what was that?
squirrels make you nervous?? =) haha..they are tiny I suppose and very fast.
lol, Wee man sighting…
Sea lions might just be my favorite marine animal. I only thought about picking a favorite marine animal just now, though, so I have to think about it.
LOL, oh, man, that Beyonce skit was hee-larious! I always wonder how they train them…
Sea World is a great place, though I’ve never been to San Diego before. Welcome back and I’m glad you had a great time there! = D
How fun! Glad this second trip to San Diego was much better. Yeah, the squirrels over here in CA are not so afraid of humans as much. There was one time when I was sitting with my friend during our break on our college campus. My friend and I were drinking some orange juice, and my friend set his orange juice container on the left side of him. He glanced over a few minutes later to find a squirrel licking the top of the orange container! We were stunned, amused, and sat very still and quiet so not to disturb the critter…lol. It was wild.
@Roadlesstaken - Yeah, I love seals and dolphins, but I like just about any animal!
@lil_squirrel4ever - Not that nervous…but when 4-5 of them start surrounding me you gotta wonder what they’re planning haha
@indiechaos - I think I may write about it in the near future; stay tune!
@randaness - The sea lion show had to be my favorite show of them all. I really wonder how long it takes to train the animals.
@angelwhite99 - Ah, did you go to the one in Florida or something? How’s that one?
@ladyofthesilk - Ah, good to see you around on Xanga again
. Haha I would be amused by that too and probably would have videotaped it all.
I didn’t have much time to read and watch everything but I did catch the Beyonce seal deal. Awesome!!!! And it looks like you had a fun time!!!
As for DC I’m still thinking about it. It’s not the ride but more of getting time off for it… sucks to not be free for anything I want anymore hahaha. But at least I’m making money!!!!
I absolutely love all your pictures
really really nice and makes me want to jump on a plane and go to seaworld now…except I’m about to jump on a plane and go to Romania..oy lollll heat plus no ac…hmm wonderful combination!!!
@tigerdauphin - Haha well it’s still far enough in the future that you could call off on that Saturday *cough cough*. I’ll buy you lunch or something if you do come! I think it would be a fun trip. I totally missed the last DC meet-up so I need to make up for that.
@missedout_onlife - Haha hey Romania’s good as well! At least you get to go to Europe; I have yet to go to any country over there. I want to go to Wimbledon!
@Roadlesstaken - omg wimbledon is my absolutely FAVORITE. It’s basically my dream to just step in London..but to go to wimbledon?!! ahhhh!!! when you go, take me with you
@missedout_onlife - who knows, maybe I won’t have to if you’re already playing in the draw
The squirrel pictures are adorable. Especially the close up.
@tenshii_rage - I barely had to zoom in on that first shot; he/she was THAT close haha
@Roadlesstaken - I can imagine. When I was a little girl and I went to the park with my dad, a squirrel had the audacity to climb up my dad’s pant leg! But that might have had something to with the nuts my dad had in his pockets, tee hee….
@tenshii_rage - Haha I read that last sentence way too quickly for a moment there; though you said something else =P
@Roadlesstaken - Damn modern language. I totally did not think of it that way. I rephrase that: because he had FOOD in his pockets. Ugh. Why must the simplest of words be a double entendre these days? lol….its a pet peeve of mine, I could rant on forever about it =P
lmao to your paparazzi shots of weeman. xp
i loved going to sea world in San Antonio. awesomeness!
and i thoroughly think your cousins should move to Austin so maybe perhaps you might be even more so inclined to come down.
;]
@PiscesPhishie - Well, I do have existing cousins in TX that I need to visit…
@Roadlesstaken - uh in fact i did! hahaha.
Glad you had a good time! The sealion show was my favorite when we went to seaworld in florida in march, it cracked me up. They even had otters in the show so cute!
Ooo, looks like an awesome trip. I’m looking forward to getting out there in June. I think my friend and I are going to try to go to Sea World and the zoo while I’m out there. On your video, there’s something really scary to me about squirrels. I would have been freaked out with them getting so close.
I went to Sea World in Florida (I think) once. Can I just say, I HATE whales.
Thats all
Hope you had a nice time? Looked like you did!
Okay here’s my theory, although my best friends call me mentally retarded when I tell them it every time. I won’t date in high school because by the time me and the guy go out, high school will be over and we will eventually break up because – I have two more years of high school left right? So it’s going to take half of that year for me to meet this guy and get to know him. Another few months for me to realize that I like him, then summer will be here and we can’t do much cause we’ll be away and then it’ll be senior year – it’ll take me another few months to tell him, a few more months to figure out IF he likes me, and by the time he has the balls to ask me out (if he does like me), high school will be over. So that’s my theory of why I shouldn’t date in high school LOL, it might not make any sense to you but it does to me haha =)
:[ i wanna go to sandiego/sanfran. i've never been outside where i live :[ at templeU, the squirrels here are vicious and they will attack you for your food :] that’s why they’re so fat! We love them hahaha
This post reminded me that I have yet to talk about my D.C trip…I’ve always wanted to go to California despite my fear of planes..I should probably go over the summer before First Semester starts. Are you gonna go back?
Glad you had a good time! Sea World looked like fun
and seeing Wee Man must have been awesome
))
@Drugsy - Oh yea, I tried to snap a shot of the little otters but they ran off too quickly!
@TheCheshireGrins - I’m glad SOMEONE else agrees that they would be a little on guard if they saw squirrels surround you like that! Haha yeah, I hope you enjoy those places! They’re grrrreat!
@theRyeCatcher - What’s wrong with whales? did one splash you hard?
@JetaimeMing - that kinda make sense actually haha. I would still try it out if you get a chance; at the very least those are experiences that you can learn from.
@babyblue5201314 - Oh you go to Temple in PA? Didn’t realized you were that close by!
@RaquelHiggins005 - Yeah, you haven’t written a recap about your DC trip; get on it! If I do go back to CA it will probably be San Fransisco since I got relatives there.
@B1ANCACACA - Haha it was. I can’t believe I almost didn’t recognize him. I mean how many people look like him?
@Roadlesstaken - haha yeah i’m a temple kid up in pa :]. lol and the beyonce video was cute haha the white seal! i never seen it o.O
looks like you had an amazing time! as always!…wish i could just take off!!! maybe when finals are done!
PS> im still here..still reading your ramblings..hehe..im just too lazy to write about anything at all..
@Roadlesstaken - Haha, no, I live in Texas.
so I only went as far as San Antonio, which seemed like a normal SeaWorld, but it honestly didn’t compare to yours of sea lions and squirrels! = P but I still love the shows, nevertheless.
lots and lots of whales…
I just randomly found your blog…haha.
Anyhow just wanted to comment…San diego is AMAZING. I’m glad you got to check it out
Looks like you had a blast in San Diego! So, are you ever coming down to Texas?
Nice sites, yo!! So jealous! And I loved that sea lions video, my goodness, I had goosebumps after I watched it! lol Now, I really have to go to Sea World. Thanks for the fun videos and pictures!!!
Nice, last trip I went to was a 4 day trip to Vegas in October.
@vtpryncess - Oh yeah, you’re almost done this semester! Plans to travel anywhere during summer break yet?
@debonnaire_1 - Yes it is. I’m assuming you’ve been there haha. Do you live there or close by?
@lisado - You know, you’re like the 3rd or 4th person to ask me to visit TX. Maybe I really should strongly consider visiting down there. Are you close to Austin?
@hyunj09 - haha glad you digged it. I definitely recommend Sea World for a fun time.
@GaMeGurLsH - Cool, with friends or family? I went to Las Vegas on a family trip which wasn’t so fun since I had to babysit my brother for most of the time.
@Roadlesstaken - I’m in Houston. We could take a round trip Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas… there are lots to do in Texas
you should totally come down!
@lisado - How far are all those cities from each other? I know Texas is quite huge compared to Maryland, so I have no clue the distances.
@Roadlesstaken - Hey I went with friends. I will be going with my parents and my bro next year for another short trip. This time I’ll go all out and spend the money on O and the other Cirque du Soleil shows. I heard O was the best out of all of them. The cabaret shows suck, my friends and I fell asleep to it even though it was loud and BRIGHT! Maybe it’s for older people because other people seemed to like it. I wanted to go to a strip club but one of our friends didn’t. What a bore!
I’ll learn later on, school is over whelming, high school’s so much
and besides, boys don’t like me haha
harder for some reason
@Roadlesstaken - Well, if I can remember correctly… it’s all about 3 hours max from each other. I’m unsure about Dallas… maybe 4 hrs? I’ve personally only traveled to Austin (3hrs) and San Antonio (2hrs).
not that i know of yet..nothing extravagant @ least. …just places here on the east coast. =)
@GaMeGurLsH - I have yet to go to a strip club, but I want to just to say I have. I’m sure it would interesting to say the least
@JetaimeMing - haha oh w/e. Btw, if you think high school is hard wait until college
@lisado - Hmm that’s kinda far, but shorter than I expected. Hmm we’ll see!
@Roadlesstaken - oh gosh, that totally makes me feel better =P college seems easier, you take like less classes which is good.
@JetaimeMing - in a way it’s deceptively harder. You take less classes and have more freedom, but in most classes you have very little leeway to mess up since some classes only have 2-3 grades a semester. In other words, mess up on one exam and you’re kinda screwed. At least in high school you can use homework to buffer your grades up. Good study habits are quite essential in college if you wanna do well.
@Roadlesstaken - seriously? that sucks, I panic on tests. I’m a bad test taker and I don’t know how to study, no one ever taught me that
what classes did you take in college?
I’ve always wanted to go to SD. I almost went to school there. I’ll make it one of my first stops when I get some cash.
@JetaimeMing - Funny thing is that I actually did better in college than high school! I’m luckily a good test taker. I took a lot of psyc classes, as well as general classes.
@Roadlesstaken - what’s general classes? english, math, global, and science? maybe i’ll be lucky like you and do better in college than high school haha ! I hope though =)
@ryu - oh really, which school? There’s quite a few there apparently. I visited UCSD and SDSU
@JetaimeMing - Yep, dabbed a little in everything to fit my general requirement. I’m sure you’ll have to do the same as well
@Roadlesstaken - I applied to be both UCSD and SDSU but only got into SDSU. In the end it was too costly a venture at that point.
@Roadlesstaken - GRR, I hate taking the pointless subjects, we honestly do not need pre-cal in our lives, or trig. we just needa know 2+2=5 and we’re gooooooooooooooood yo.
I mean four** LOL my bad!
@JetaimeMing - omg, maybe it is a good idea you focus on school and now boys haha
@Roadlesstaken - it was an accident! when I talk to you, I sound so dumb lol =O
i love the shows at sea world! there so fun
I miss La Jolla, SD! :]
@aliceandrandy - yeah? are you from around there?
@Roadlesstaken - the whale phobia is hard to explain. I just don’t want to be swallowed by one, and the bit in pinocchio where he gets eaten by one was not my idea of a Disney movie!
Holy crap. You saw Wee Man!?!? O_O
@Axis_of_Doom - Yes I did haha. Big fan?
@Roadlesstaken - Yeah. He’s hilarious.
Plus I lovez the squirrelz.
i want that cute squirrel as my pet!!!
@maniacsicko - Go to San Diego and capture one! They don’t seem shy at all
That looked like a pretty amazing trip! At Sea world, so they mark the seats, like.. where you would sit if you don’t want to get wet or something? Because, say I had a camera.. and wanted to get really close.. and sat close… I’d be pretty ticked if my camera got wet and died
@AzureRecollections - yup, those seats are clearly marked “Splash Zones” so if you don’t wanna get wet you better stay away from that area!
Have you seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jByfWOLmjo
@CareyGLY - I haven’t, but I have now! That was too cool.
