  • My Spontaneous Trip to New York

    First San Diego, now New York.  After this trip, I’m sure this won’t be the last time I will make a random trip somewhere in the world!

    How did I end up deciding to go?  I was chatting with Erin, aka charmed1alwayz, and NY came up in our conversation.  Out of curiosity, I checked to see how much a bus ticket and a hotel would be if I went and found out it was really cheap.  Hey what the hell, why not?

    I ended up taking one of those Chinatown buses up to NY Monday morning.  The bus stop was in Baltimore and that place was seriously shady.  Luckily, I saw an Asian girl with luggage at the stop as well, which I awesomely deduced was also going to NY.  We sat together on the bus, which made my ride less lonely.  When we got to Penn Station in NY, she gave me some directions before we went our separate ways.  (If you’re somehow reading this Sunny, thank you!)

    It wasn’t too long before I met up with Erin at Macy’s.  We headed over to a nice Korean place called Li Hua, where we met up with Rosalie, aka pasaway4eva

    Chilling with two fun gorgeous girls in New York.  No complaints from this guy

    We proceeded to go to my hotel next so I can check in.  The hotel was called the Mayfair NY Hotel, a nice little European style place right next to Time Square.  The rooms are small, but then again I didn’t really need too much room for myself.  Not too shabby for $90 room rate.

    Wish the room could have been less…pink haha.  Oh well.

    So one of the things I really wanted to do was see some museums.  I ended up only seeing one museum and it was one that I um, didn’t imagine I would be going to.  I was thinking maybe to see a museum with modern art or whatever, but we ended up going to the MOS.  What does that stand for?  Well, I’m sure you can figure it out from the pictures below.  I am now very aware what “g-g rubbing” means =P .

    Told you the panda picture I took was gonna be interesting, BomCamChuoi!

    These are actually the more innocent pictures we took in there!  I censored some of the shots for obvious reasons.  Yeah, lovely memories with this museum experience.

    We wandered around the city for a little while before Rosalie had to part ways with us around dinner time.  Erin and I met up with a mutual friend of ours, Derek, for dinner that night (who, ironically enough, I met initially through Xanga!  We would later be officers of our college’s Chinese Student Association).

    Dinner at Zen Japanese Restaurant

    The next day, I met up with Erin again for a walk around Time Square and brunch at Bubba Gump.  According to our waiter, all the waiters there are actors.  He himself was in Gossip Girls the other day apparently!  I thought that was interesting.

    In case you’re wondering, I trying to clean up my spilled drink that I somehow sent flying off the table

    She had to work that day, so she quickly gave a tour of 5th Avenue before leaving me on my own.  I spent most of the time this day exploring Central Park, Rockefeller Center, 5th and 6th Avenue by myself.  I was hoping to check out the Musuem of Modern Arts, but it’s closed on Tuesdays!  Bummer.

    Random shots I took that day

    My bus was scheduled to leave at 6:30pm, so I met up with Derek and his girlfriend for one quick meal at TenRen’s before I left for my trip back home.

    I heard the NY TenRen’s wasn’t so good, but I thought it was fine enough.  The service was pretty shotty however.

    I got back to Baltimore around 10pm that night.  Remember how I said that stop was shady?  When I arrived, there was a guy on his knees in the street.  Uhhhh, wtf??  An ambulance did come by soon afterwards though, so hopefully he’s alright.  As for me, I quickly rushed over to the nearest gas station to wait to get picked up.  Note to self:  don’t go back there alone at night.

    Overall, it was a nice little trip that really should have been longer.  I guess I’ll have to remember that next time I go, which will hopefully be very soon.

  • Wow, $90 for a room next to Time Square? I didn’t think that kind of bargain existed in New York.

  • Ya know what? I had to google MOS; I seriously don’t know what you meant by it, because there’s a couple of terms that it could be. That panda picture is diiiiirty! I like my left-handed panda better! I’m glad you had fun in NYC. You’re so brave for going to Central Park by yourself. Don’t you watch CSI? That’s where all the murders take place! And where they dump the bodies! haha

    You couldn’t find any NYC Xangans that could let you crash at their place?

  • mmm love random spontaneous trips! :) definitely interesting photos haha

  • i visited the museum of sex last october and to be honest, it was a little disappointing. i thought it would be more dynamic… i dunno.

  • Wow, that’s a really cool trip! I keep hearing about the MOS. Okay, it’s vacation planning time for me, haha!

  • looks like fun! if you are ever inclined to come to the corn state i’ll show you around..it’ll only take a day to take in all the sites…hehe.

  • OMG Why didn’t you just write out Museum of Sex? Now I feel like an idiot!

  • I think the most spontaneous trip I’ve ever taken was a detour to the gas station on the way to the grocery store…I gotta work on that!

  • Did you catch the name of your waiter? I’m a bit of a Gossip Girl fanatic =p

  • Looks like you had tons of fun!
    Def. come down during break sometime! So I could meet up with you!

  • Sounds like a good trip! I love NYC!

  • sorry i couldn’t meet up with you.. definitely next time!

  • @wherethefishlives - I know right?  I booked it kinda last minutes, so maybe they just needed to fill up space.  If the price is around the same next time I’m definitely gonna go back to that hotel again.

    @Casa_blanca_lilies - I think I’m starting to get addicted to traveling!  Hmm where to next.

    @Liera - Haha dynamic in what way, like live demonstrations?  =P

  • @BomCamChuoi - Haha I figured people could figure it out quite easily, but I guess not.  Oh man so much animal sex.  Central Park is perfectly fine during the day, so no worries.  People should be worry with me!  Mwahahahha.

    It was kinda last minute, so I didn’t wanna burden anyone.  I’m sure living space in NY is already crowded enough, so a hotel was fine with me.

    @Lynn1013 - You should visit NY sometimes.  I’ll come with you if you do!

    @pinaymutt - Haha sounds good.  Forgive my ignorance, but which state is the corn state?

    @faerienoodles - For sure, random trips are the best!  Makes life a bit more interesting.

  • hey!! well written entry again as always!! come back when there’s no more school! totally saving those pics!! and I’m glad that u had fun! =P

  • pink room is awesome!! XP

  • awe I’m glad you had a good time =]

  • @xiaosnowtenshi -

    His name was Kevin and he said he was a student in one of the recent episodes. He has short blonde hair if that helps. Haha he had some stories on the main cast.

    @rhetorical_soul -

    Seriously, we should meet up one of these days. What part of NY are you from again?

    @TheCheshireGrins -

    It was fun and I hope I can stay longer next time!

    @kc_sarah -

    I see how it is, finally an opportunity to meet up and you neglect me . Haha j/k, hopefully next time I come you’ll be available. Maybe I should take a NY college tour?

  • @pasaway4eva -

    I’m about to upload the pics onto Facebook as well. There were a few more that I didn’t add in this entry (i.e. our pic w/ the Empire State Building in the background). Are you gonna post up some of your pics as well?

    @s_h_a_sha -

    For you I suppose. I wanted a blue room!

    @indiechaos -

    Thanks, you’re no doubt gonna love it when you go to college in NY

  • lol the room was deffinitely a bargain! wow. I need to check it out next time :) and haha i wanted to visit that museum!! LOL.

  • it was nice meeting you! glad that you had a good trip :)

  • Wow–sounds like an eventful trip!  I have been to NYC twice and I love it–wish I was only a bus ride away! Haha–for some reason I knew the MOS existed, but I couldn’t get myself to go!  Maybe we’ll meet up next time I go =)

  • @babyblue5201314 -

    Oh yea you should. Be ready to see some eye-opening exhibits!

    @charmed1alwayz -

    Glad to finally have met you as well! Too bad you couldn’t hang out longer the second day . I sure could have benefited from having you around while I was searching for a museum! haha

    @lil_squirrel4ever -

    Oh man deciding on going to the MOS was very random. We just saw an ad in a traveler’s guide and we were all “lets go there!” Yea, I’m curious on how you would react to some of the stuff that they showed in there.

  • @Roadlesstaken - lol.  So you guys weren’t planning that MOS trip for months…=P  I’m not sure how I would take it–I guess it could be amusing or shocking or disturbing depending on what was there!  I remember when I was in the Picasso Museum in Barcelona (AMAZING btw) and there were all these drawings Picasso did, and it was in this special room because they were X Rated!

  • @lil_squirrel4ever -

    Yea, the whole museum would be X-rated for sure! They seriously didn’t hold back on the history of sex! My goodness, there are some crazy sex machines out there! Be glad I didn’t take any photos of those =P

  • @Roadlesstaken - lol.  Sounds like it was interesting…=)  Good for conversation though eh?

  • come to texas! ;] lol. Ahh, random trips, do them now or else when you’re older you may not get a chance to just pack up and go like you can now!

  • Oh, wow! You went to MoSex! I heard that it’s an interesting museum and I’d like to fly to NYC and visit someday. :)

  • wow, your trip sounds pretty awesome. if i visit new york, i’m gonna check out their flight clubs [sneaker stores.] haha

  • I’m so jealous!! Right now is my spring break and i should be in nyc right now :(
    but i’m glad you had fun :D the MOS sounds hilarious so i guess i should try to check that out :P
    I really need to get talking to my friends about going!

  • museum musuem musuem! :) :) :) just wish there were more of it here!!

  • awesome pics and can’t believe u went to that museum, totally gross. btw what does shady mean?

  • Wow! ^_^ I need this kind of trip. lol

  • yes I will post them up on fb! =]

  • OGM, after watching that video in the MOS of sex on g-g rubbing, I didn’t want to eat for days! Glad you enjoyed NYC.

  • I think you took photos because you’re kinky like that. haha I’d like to go to New York. Is it as beautiful as they say it is? New York…

    I’m glad you made it back safely! I remember riding a greyhound bus from Austin to Chicago, so I know what you mean by shady. One time I had seven convicts sit next to me; six of them got out for assault and one for murder. So consider yourself fortunate. Throughout the night, all they talked about were their victims and how no one should mess with them. Avoid eye contact at all costs if this should ever happen to you.

  • bubba gump, forest gum lol. neat trip.

  • Wow… the pandas….wow…..

  • @PiscesPhishie -

    exactly, I have time now so why not? I’m seriously considering visiting TX in the near future. I do have cousins down there I could stay with, so who knows. What part of TX are you from btw?

    @JennLee@datingish -

    Er yes, interesting is one way you could put it. Who would have thunk Paris Hilton’s sex tape would end up being shown over and over again at a museum? haha

    @fLiPgUy31O -

    Geez, I wonder why that doesn’t surprise haha. Not interested in the MOS I see?

    @tollyyjoy -

    there aren’t? Aren’t museum everywhere?

  • @B1ANCACACA -

    For sure, it will definitely be a memorable museum trip!

    @cokaholic -

    Shady means iffy, kinda unsafe haha. Yea, that bus stop was shady.

    @superblessed -

    Go now! It’ll be worth the money.

    @pasaway4eva -

    excellent! You gonna censor the dirtier pics as well?

  • @mixedbabiesrock -

    I just couldn’t take the term “g-g rubbing” seriously the entire time I was listening to that documentary haha.

    @skillusionz -

    You haven’t been away THAT long

    @jeannie_dot_com -

    Ever been to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.? Forrest Gump overload!

    @booboo817 -

    That picture will be the first thing that pops up in my head whenever someone mentions pandas now =P

  • @Pearls_of_Trust -

    Kinky? Nah…haha. Yea, NY is quite a visual treat. Damn, seven convicts? Er why were they on the bus? Shouldn’t they be in jail or something?

  • @rhetorical_soul -

    Btw…what happened to all your posts?

  • It’s been months!!!

  • Wow! That’s a good deal considering NYC hotels cost an arm and a leg. I usually always take the greyhound in Silver Spring… good thing it’s not too shady there lol. I’ll be scared to go to Bmore too.

    Love the pinkness going on in the hotel ^_^ Looks like you had a blast! Spontaneous trips are an adventure ^_^

    Ohhhh I was going to try out Bubba Gump during NYE but it was just way too crowded at Times Square. How was the food there?

  • @Roadlesstaken -

    right now in central tx, but by maybe the summer or august I’ll be in Austin, goin to UT. :]]

  • @Roadlesstaken -

    clean slate = unfortunately, i have nothing to post.

    ideas?:P send em’.

  • @ImprezaGirl -

    I thought about taking Greyhound, but it was 5 dollars more than the Chinatown bus I took haha. The ride wasn’t bad, but I think next time I’m gonna pick a different location for pick up.

    The food at Bubba Gump was alright. I only ate appetizers from there because I was eating around brunch time, so I can’t say much about the other stuff. It’s an interesting restaurant though and worth checking out, especially if you’re a big fan of Forrest Gump.

    P.S. Did you attend UMBC? I think I’ve seen you before on the blogring.

  • @rhetorical_soul -

    You could always post up that sketch you’ve been procrastinating on *cough cough* . I’ll give you tons of eprops…

  • @Roadlesstaken -

    I wasn’t procrastinating! I worked on it whenever I had the time! :[

    class work is piling up! with 10page papers every week, etc!

  • LMAO. i know right. it was suppose to be a post. but i accidentally clicked on submit post before i even began writing anything!
    anywho. im leaving to newyork city next weekend. i would love to know what great places were there to visit!

  • @Roadlesstaken -

    They finished serving time in a federal penitentiary and were going home on a greyhound bus. You know, while I was on the bus, I remembered the Chinese guy who used an army knife to cut a guy’s head off. Do you remember? It happened not too long ago on a greyhound bus around New York.

  • @Pearls_of_Trust -

    I do not, and I’m glad I don’t haha.

  • Sounds like a lot of fun!  I wish I could go on a spontaneous trip, but I have no idea where I would go – maybe Montreal or something.  Toronto is too close to be spontaneous.  -_-

  • haha everyone goes to the MOS -_-

    lol… Chinatown’s not very sketchy … it’s the most harmless place I could think of :P

    glad you had fun in my hometown

  • Oh dear goodness…looks like you had TOO MUCH fun….boo to the fun-havers!

  • @TheLoveMuse -

    Oh you’re up in Canada? Didn’t know that. I wouldn’t mind visiting Canada again. The last time I was there was 6 years ago.

    @Prim_Prim4488 -

    Haha I wonder why. Oh yea, Chinatown is fine; it’s the Baltimore bus stop that was sketchy as all hell =P .

    @hyunj09 -

    I probably could have had a little bit more FUN fun if I wasn’t so tired that night. I really shoulda check out NY at night!

  • @babii_ninner -

    Have you been to NY before? There’s obviously so many places to check out i.e. Time Square, Chinatown, Central Park, 5th Avenue, etc. I really need to go back because I haven’t seen so many places like Queens and the Statue of Liberty.

  • @Roadlesstaken - well.. i shall say we have limited choices here. haha.

  • what a steal… 90 bucks in time square..

    next time you take a spontaneous roll..i’ll try to jump in on that.

    it sounds like fun..

  • love the spontaneity!

  • @Roadlesstaken - The only places I’ve gone in the US are Florida and Hawaii on vacation.  I should do a NY shopping trip sometime when I’m feeling rich ;)

  • @bluedreamer85 -

    Yep, next time I take a spontaneous trip to CA I’ll let you know for sure

    @coffeeguru314 -

    It’s the best way to do things!

  • I wish I went to NY
    >.<

  • we have bubba gump in m’sia too, but all the waitors there are umm… just normal lol.

  • @Dylan_Disast3r -

    What’s stopping you?

    @darth_cosmos -

    Oh cool! Yea the first time I went to a Bubba Gump was in Hong Kong. I was surprise to see it all over the world!

  • @Dylan_Disast3r -

    Psh, I was able to travel to CA all the way from MD!

  • You came to NY and didn’t invite me out? :(

    haha jk, I am still wanting to go to Museum of Sex!
    There is a hotel by Times Square that offers really cheap hotel rates, I don’t think Mayfair was it but it not a hotel you want to be in. Bed bugs, roaches, etc. in the rooms. I saw an article that they even had a dead corpse underneath one of the beds because nobody ever cleaned that hotel thoroughly. Ah, it was Hotel Carter. At $80/night, I rather pay $120/night to get a hotel that won’t give me health problems!

    Did you have fun?

  • @GaMeGurLsH -

    Hey I did put up a pulse asking who wanted to meet up! It was kinda last minutes, so I only met up with two Xangans. They were very fun though! I guess next time I’ll give you a heads up.

    Yea, good thing my hotel wasn’t like that at all. It was very nice, despite the room being all pink haha.

  • wow.. new york looks awesome and you look very adventurous.. that is tight! hehe =D i would love to go to new york one day

  • @discover_hienie - You should, there’s a lot to see.  I barely scratch the surface of what NY had to offer.

  • THERE’S A TENREN’S IN NYC??? WHY DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS? :( dang, i actually thought tenren’s was only in canada. haha

  • @d_ciao - Haha you serious?  TenRen is all around the US =D

  • @Roadlesstaken - aw, i didn’t know… i would’ve wanted to satisfy my craving! haha
