Five Love Life Tales
So, I guess I did do a really good job disgusting the false statement amongst the four true statements. Out of everyone who guessed, only four people got it correct. I’ll go through all the true stories first before I get to the false one.
I have dated a girl I initially met through an online dating website. = True!
A lot of people thought this was the fake one because it seems either they misread a comment I left on another post (I wrote I never dated anyone I met through Xanga, but I didn’t say anything about other sites!) or they thought I was too good to try out an online dating website. We make friends all the time online, so why not find dates as well? As long as the internet isn’t your ONLY source of meeting people it seems normal enough to me.
In reality, I actually did partake in a dating website not too long ago, although not for the the obvious reasons. I used to be a pretty active user on OkCupid, mainly because I was addicted to all the tests on that site as well as answering questions that shaped my personality awards. I got a few of my friends (both guys and girls) to join as well, and we would sometimes compare test scores and what not.
Eventually, we decided to try out the website for the reason it was intended, just out of curiosity to see if it actually works. It was then that I started talking with a girl from that website whom I later found out went to my college. After a few messages, we eventually arranged to go on a date that went pretty well. We went on a few more dates before one day we just stopped. I think we were both cool with each other, but we never did achieve that chemistry. It was still a more or less good experience.
In case you’re wondering, I’m not very active on that site anymore. I do a few tests here and there, but I’m not regularly looking for people on that site. I have nothing against using online dating as one of the ways for people to find others to date. Although there can be some weirdos on there (like there are in real life), it is definitely a legitimate way to meet someone (especially for people that are busy all the time). Girls seems to have more luck though; guys mostly initiate messages and it seems like there’s a whole lot more guys than girls on those sites. Go figure.
I wore a sash that said “Cupid” on a Valentine’s Day date. = True!Circa February 2005
Yup, there’s the photographic proof. At the time, I was planning to go out to eat with my then girlfriend for Valentine’s Day. I didn’t plan to wear a sash though; it just sort of happened. I was helping a club at my school find some old props in a box when I came about this sash that said “Cupid” on it. The club didn’t really have much use for it, so I asked if I could take it. They said sure, so I decided “Oh why not?” and put it on just for my Valentine’s Day date. It was kind of silly now that I think back, but at least it gave my girlfriend a good laugh. Hmm, I wonder what ever happened to that sash.
I went out on a 7+ hour date at a bubble tea shop. = True!Bubble/Boba tea, both refer to the same thing
I was surprised that people didn’t believe you can be at a bubble tea place for that long, but it happened to me. I decided to take this girl out to this bubble tea place for our first date. I’m really fond of the drinks, food, and the laid back atmosphere of the place, so I was sure she would dig it. She and I ended up clicking extremely well all night, talking about everything without any moments of awkward silence. What also made our stay there so long was the television that was right in front of our table. I forgot which movies were playing, but we ended up watching three whole movies while chilling on our comfortable couch.
That was one of the best dates I’ve ever had where everything went right. What happened between the girl and I? Well, we ended up in a pretty good relationship soon after that date, but it didn’t last as long as it should have due to her moving away. Long distance is a killer
. It’s alright though; there were many great memories and I’m thankful for the time we did have together.
I have given roses to a girl I’ve only met once. = True!
Okay, so I might have stretch the truth a little with this one. While I did give roses to a complete stranger, those roses weren’t really meant for her. Confused?
Back in early November, I wrote up a protected post about a recent failed mission of mine where I was going to admit my feelings to a good friend (very difficult to do, in my opinion).Maybe if enough people are interested I’ll make that post public for you to read(UPDATED: oh why not, I’ll make it public. Here’s the link.), but long story short everything that could have gone wrong went wrong that night. At the end of that night, I was holding onto a dozen pink roses I had bought for her but was not going to give to her due to some um, unforeseen circumstances.
“What am I going to do with these fresh roses?” I wondered. I thought about just giving it to my mom, but I knew she would just chastise me for spending money on something that would just die soon. I also thought about giving it to friends for them to give to someone, but that didn’t work out either.
In the end, I decided not to throw away the flowers and instead give it to a random girl. I browsed around the mall for a while before I found a girl working as a cashier at Starbucks. I went over and delivered the flowers to her, under the pretenses that I was doing it on behalf of a secret admirer. She seemed super happy about the flowers, so I’m glad the roses ended up making at least one girl’s day. Hopefully, she isn’t still waiting for her “secret admirer” to make his next move 0_0 .
I asked out my first girlfriend mainly due to a dare. = FALSE!!!
The very first statement I listed was the fake one. I thought it was interesting how so many people didn’t pick that. I wonder why.
So what’s the true story? Well, it was junior year of high school (I was a late bloomer). My friend recently bought this book called “The Art of Seduction” and was reading it in school. I made fun of him, saying that he was an idiot for believing that crap. We argued back and forth about whether the book was legit or a scam, so I finally agreed to read the book and try out some of the tips before I made my final opinion on it.Psh whatever, like THIS would work
I chose a female friend of mine to try the techniques on. We were long time friends but weren’t that close, so I thought she would be an ideal person to test it on. I figured if it failed (which I was sure it would), it wouldn’t cause too much overall harm.
Oh my God, I can’t believe that book worked. Within a couple of weeks, we got close enough that I was able to asked her out and she said yes. Amazing.
We ended up only dating for just a month however. To be honest, I really only saw her as a friend and we really only got into a relationship due to that book, not due to real feelings. She and I are good friends now, so it all worked out.
Don’t worry, ever since then I’ve only gone for girls I truly have feelings for. If anything, I have to thank that book for giving me the confidence I have now. I guess my friend was right about the merits of that book all along.

Kudos to TheCheshireGrins, Spyder_V, superblessed and snowy87days for guessing correctly (and ch10n9, I suppose
)! I hope you enjoyed reading about my experiences.

Aw Haha :[
Darn. I guessed wrong…
boo i hate losing
and some guys are that evil the do stuff friends dare them…
and lol that sash!!
haha i knew it. the dare one and the dating one were the two i had narrowed it down to, but i didn’t know if you considered what happened between you and the smash bros girl (jamie?) dating. i shouldn’t be disqualified! my name should be up there with all the other ones!
actually interesting stuff.. haha, my stories would be tough to top yours!
wow =)
lol that last one is cool
Yay!
Haha I was thinking the same thing about the secret admirer, I hope she still isn’t waiting. I bet some guy she knows probably took the credit for it
well, you see.
all the guys i’ve met and played with asked a girl out on a dare before O_O
@BomCamChuoi -
It’s not THAT many. You have a good amount yourself!
@s_h_a_sha -
Nah, I don’t think I would ever do that. It seems kinda wrong. You want that sash now don’t you?
@kc_sarah -
Haha thanks, which one did you like the best?
@ch10n9 -
What else would you have called it? We went on a few dates…thus, the dating haha
@Toy_Kite -
Yea? You should check out that book sometime. Very interesting stuff.
@B1ANCACACA -
Haha that would be pretty funny. I haven’t gone back to that Starbucks ever since I gave the flowers. Maybe I should pass by to see if she remembers me.
@immaairheadxl -
Really, all the guys? That’s kind of a mean thing to do.
@Roadlesstaken - oh..it’s for fun though. middle school days you know? tricks and fun
lol
I want to read the book for fun =P
@kc_sarah -
it seems to be pretty popular. You’ll probably get a kick out of it.
heh….mr. romantic….can i call you that? i personally think you are:P i couldn’t see you asking out a girl because it was just a dare (kinda seems like a jackass-ish thing to do). however…if you liked the girl and a friend “dared” you as a lil push, i could see you going for that:P
oh…and that failed attempt i’d LOVE to read it…though….if it’s not funny and it’s actually serious as in you got emotionally scarred for life, i might not- it would ruin my image of you (what image, i can’t really describe it, i can just see it>.<)
haha i thought you hung out like once. so i wasn’t sure. the point is, my name should be in your entry
hahaha.
AHHH
TEN RENS!!!
TEN RENS
IS
<3333
:]
do you want to give me rosseessss
Well, boba is pretty good! I don’t blame you… but 7 hours? Oh wow, lucky girl!
@Roadlesstaken -
hmmmm if u are gg to give me one i dont mind >.< can i have a pink one though
i agree with bomcamchuoi’s comment about u and ur love life tales. XP lol too many to keep up with.
LOL u fooled us all! haha nice little stories tho! hmm 7 hrs! I would have kicked u out of my store! (unless u were eating the whole time!) haha
and poor girl with the “secret admirer”, I’d hate u too if I were her! haha jst kidding! lmao xP
If you really made that cashier girl believe that she had a secret admirer, then you’re horrible. haha, it’s better to be honest. Did you know a guy waited twenty years to confess to his high school crush that he loved her? He left some roses and a note on her desk one day, but never had the courage to tell her.
Twenty years of waiting killed her because she didn’t know the identity of her secret admirer.
So horrible! It’d also kill me.
@ch10n9 - ohhh fine, you got it. Cheater.
@Dylan_Disast3r - Ten Ren is my spot whenever I visit University of Maryland!
@mi1kandcerea1 - Had I known you then I woulda give it to you
. Perhaps next time I’m in CA alright? haha
@sabbygurl - Haha thanks. If you think so…
Nah, that failed attempt was kinda funny because literally everything went wrong haha. I’ll make it public for you. Click here to see it.
@MochaSprinkle - Or is it really me who’s the lucky guy?
@s_h_a_sha - Gosh so picky! If I find it you can have it. Only comes in red though haha.
@InlUvWiTuRsMiLe - it’s not THAT many. You’re a smart girl you can keep up
@pasaway4eva - Don’t worry, we made sure to order stuff throughout those 7 hours. I also gave a 40% tip for letting us stay so long =P
@Pearls_of_Trust - Geeeeeez, way to make me worry now! I’ll go check up on her to make sure she’s holding up well, alright? haha.
@Roadlesstaken -
*hopes alex finds it* >.<
First of all, that book was gifted to me after one of my guy friends use the techniques on me. He said I needed to watch out for the creeps of the world
It is highly effective, I can attest to that. You should read Casanova’s Memoirs (the one written by the man himself)!
And you were saying my life should be turned into a soap opera…
Yes! I knew it!! As I read through the options, I began to think about the way you write, which in turn showed me the way you think. You’re too romantic to go out with your first girlfriend through a bet haha.
LOL!!well i guess teachers know best when it comes to true or false type of test
more kudos for you great lover boy
@Roadlesstaken -
haha. lies. there’s just all those drunken ones that u don’t remember about XP
@AubbySilver -
Ah yes, can’t let the book fall into the wrong hands! Trust me, I haven’t used it in a creepy way =P . I’ll definitely remember to check out that book when I get the chance!
@Spyder_V -
Haha am I that readable? Good job!
Aww man. I was wrong. That was really fun.
@superblessed -
Haha great lover boy? Nah…but thanks
. So just made a lucky guess eh?
@InlUvWiTuRsMiLe -
Yeah right! Ohh fun fact about me: I’ve never been drunk drunk. I blame being hypersensitive to the alcohol. I get too red and my heart beats too fast before I get overly tipsy.
@Simbathe2nd -
Thanks for guessing!
haha great stories
actually I had guessed that one was false, but didn’t want to run the risk of being wrong if it had been wrong. ya know?
:]
@RciindiiR -
thank you
@indiechaos -
Uh huh, SURE…
@Roadlesstaken -
lol. so i called u just now and u are probably too busy in NY partying it up XP lol FAIL
Love your stories, each and every one of them is sooo interesting. Anyway that website you recommended is quite fun in terms of the tests but can’t say the same about “dating potentials” on it. But then again i’ve only visited like 2 profiles, yours and someone else LOL. Anyway hopefully I will not get addicted because that means more time wasted procrastinating over the internet. I spend waaay too much time online and really should get a life.
@InlUvWiTuRsMiLe -
Wow, can you BE anymore wrong haha. You inadvertently gave me a papercut! Grr!!
@cokaholic -
Ah, yea some of those tests are quite fun. Have you taken the dating persona test? That’s one of my favorite ones.
Awww, and I was so sure it was the roses! My reasoning was right though – you were neither stupid not overconfident. Kudos!
@Roadlesstaken -
hahaha. lol XP it’s not my fault that you’re just clumsy and gave yourself a papercut XP i’m inadvertently sorry though XP
Wanna hear something funny? Or rather, creepy? Anyway, someone searched “Roadlesstaken” in the xanga search box….
How do I know? They came to my page via that search.
Nyah nyah nyah nyah- you’ve got a stalker! or a lurker. Whatever.
@hyunj09 -
Haha yea, I’ve gotten some referrals like that before. Are you sure that stalker wasn’t you?
@TheLoveMuse -
Hmm, perhaps a tiny bit stupid =P
@Roadlesstaken -
you need to be a tiny bit stupid to be confident I think. Girls love confidence (unless it’s cocky) so all the power to you! I’m sure she was charmed.
what are the dating personal test?
lol that was an interesting read. I liek the bubbletea one. i wanted to try it but havent found a good place to do it at, so i’ve stuck to starbucks … and lol aw for the roses story. at least it made a girl’s day
@cokaholic -
Haha it’s called the Dating Persona Test; it’s one of the main tests that people take on that site. It won’t be too hard to find.
@babyblue5201314 -
Glad you liked my stories
