5 facts about me + VSA banquet pictures
I’ve seen these 5 facts things on youtube and been meaning to do one myself. Instead of saying it on a video, I’ll just list them below.
5 Random Facts About Roadlesstaken:1. I have incredibly vivid dreams.
I tend to remember most of my dreams when I wake up and if I wanted to I could describe, in detail, what went on. I don’t think I ever really had scary dreams. Most dreams I have usually involves some weird adventure that could possibly happen in real life. Check out my entry “I dream a lot” for an example of one dream I had recently.
Have you ever heard of lucid dreaming? It’s when you realize that you are dreaming in the middle of dreaming, which then allows you to control yourself in your dream. Sounds kinda cool right? I can only remember achieving that one time, back in high school. Once I realized I was dreaming, I started walking through walls, flying, drinking from a 10 foot tall Coke bottle, and doing some *ahem* unmentionables
. Err anyways, lucid dreaming is fun
.2. I kick stray shoes if they’re in my way.
Okay, let me explain. My friends actually pointed this out to me one time when I was in their dorm rooms. They tend to take off their shoes and just leave them all over the room. Apparently, whenever I walk around and one of their shoes is in my way, I give it a small kick to knock it out of my path. It’s not like I’m angry or anything. I have no idea where I got this random thing from, or how long I’ve been doing this before my friends pointed it out. Does anyone else do this?
3. I have a very distinct walk.
Now I’m pretty sure my dad is responsible for this trait of mine. Generally when I walk, I walk very upright with a noticeable swagger. My friend described it by saying I swing my body back and forth, with my arms kinda out. The first time someone mentioned this to me was during high school. I was just walking by myself down a hall when a random kid ask me “why you walking around like you’re all that?” Haha…well trust me, I don’t do it on purpose. In fact, lately I’ve been attempting to calm that down and make my walk not as distinctive. Anyways, if you have a problem with that blame my dad, since he walks exactly the same way. Oh well, it could be worse. At least I look confident in the way I carry myself
.Here’s a video of me walking at a cultural fashion show. Skip to 2:23-2:55 to see the part with me:
I was attempting to control it btw. Is it noticeable still?
4. If I could have a secret power, I wish I could read people’s minds.
Just like Matt Parkman on Heroes!Being a psychology major I guess that’s not too surprising. I admit, I’ve actually thought about this enough that I start wondering what I would do if I did have those powers. Would I just keep it to myself, or would I go to some organization like the government to help interrogate unsuspecting people? I then start thinking what if the government try to do experiments on me if I went to them. Maybe I would just keep it to myself but still use my powers for the common good. I would be like that guy from Psych, except legit! …Okay, I’m gonna stop before I make myself sound more like a dork.
5. I love giving (and receiving) massages.
Yes I do. I didn’t even really need massages until college started. An ex of mine stressed me out so much that I now have reoccurring knots on my shoulders that requires deep tissue massages to get out. I also enjoy giving massages for some reason. Maybe I like the idea that I’m helping someone else feel better. What’s weird is that I don’t get tired when I massage people. I have given massages in the past that lasted for hours and my hands did not feel sore at all. If I ever find someone that is like that and can massage me I’ll be in heaven!
Alright, I’m gonna tag 5 random people. If I tag you, you have to make a 5 facts post in the near future. Feel free to do one even if I didn’t tag you. Have fun!

As mentioned last post, I went to the VSA banquet Friday night for the first time. Overall it was a good experience and I had a lot of fun hanging out with old friends from UMBC, as well as listening to some, um, interesting karaoke. I somehow got recruited at one point to walk out with one of the fashion show models as well. It was alright, but I wish I could have enjoyed the food that was coming out during the time we did our last minute run through.Tons of pictures below (click to enlarge):

I just started dreaming a couple of months back; or maybe I’m sleeping for more than 2 hours at a time to even be able to dream! I used to work night shift on and off for two years so sleeping during the day is a drag.
The shoes: maybe it’s an Asian thing. Cuz we Asians take off our shoes before entering someone’s house…
I have a fast paced walk. Probably because when they call out Code Blue, ya need to run your ass over to save the patient =)
Super power: go invisible.
I dunno about the massage thing =)
Thanks for visiting!
YOU SHOULD…EDIT..
why you tag us
@immaairheadxl -
It was random…ish
@Roadlesstaken - i will do so, as you wish
I suck at psychology.
I’m serious.
But that lucid dream thing sounded familiar..
OH WAIT! THAT’S THE ONLY TEST I PASSED SO FAR..hahahahaa
and i’m good at giving massages ^_^ so i’ve been told..
more than once..
or ten thousand times.. =D HAHA
I’m with you on #1
I’m laughing at #2
I’m watching #3…(nice swagger!)
I don’t think #4 is a good idea for me personally (what if ppl think badly of me? I don’t want my ego to go down in flames!),
and as for #5…I don’t know what to say
What is wrong with a distinct walk? As long as you’re not bouncing off of things or people…why would it matter really? I don’t have a distinct walk..just heavy footsteps (no matter my weight) lol. I blame it on flat-footedness.
As for the massages thing…I’m the same way. Sometimes I wonder if I could do moonlighting as a masseusse…but I am sure I’d need to get a certificate for that. :(
The dreaming thing is kind of cool. I’ve never been able to lucidly dream. I wonder if you can train yourself to do that…
You better stop kicking my shoes! lol
@XXVl -
Thanks! I’m glad noone has said I walk like a gorilla or something, like one of my friends once said haha
@Femme003 -
I actually thought about being a physical therapist or a masseuse at one point, but I’ll just leave that skill as a hobby for now
@TheCheshireGrins -
I’m sure there’s some way you can train yourself. Every once in a while I try to tell myself to remember that I’m in a dream before I go to bed, but that thought doesn’t linger on when I finally do start dreaming. I can’t wait until I figure it out again. I do remember that the first time I did lucid dream, it felt like I had to focus really hard in order to control myself.
@d2H5b -
Then stop leaving them in my way!! p.s. I left my umbrella at your place. Better not have stolen it!
Lucid dreaming is the best way to dream. While dreaming you realize none of it is real and you get to control pretty much anything. One dream found me walking/running from Columbia Mall towards home while pushing a grocery cart in the rain. Then for some reason I wanted to veer off the road and found myself chasing/hiding from people and me making snowman with my hands sub-zero style.
@stupid_systemus -
Awesome! I think I had a dream where I was freezing stuff with my hands too
hehehehe.
just finished reading this….a long time after the fact:P obviously it’s cause you had the link up on your most recent post:P
i also have vivid dreams. though most times, it’s cause i consciously can change my dreams- what i do, what i wear, what i eat- that kind of stuff
oh…the walking thing. there’s nothing wrong with walking like that! i walk as if i’m floating on air/ always hearing music. i walk with a “bounce”. i’ve had this walk since elementary>.<
love that massage pic!:D
@sabbygurl -
I can’t believe it took 4 months before someone noticed how cool that massage picture is! haha
Do you have any videos of you walking like that? That sounds like a pretty care free style of walking! I dig it.
nah, i don’t have any videos of me walking like that. most people don’t really even notice (cause i go to school in toronto and noone has the time to notice these things).
i kinda adopted this habbit in grade school cause i used to listen to my walkman all the time and i’d walk to the beat. eventually, the walk stuck. plus….i’m never really in a real rush to get anywhere, so walking like that is quite fun:D
The whole lot you shout interferes with my way of thinking, I weigh up thus
