  • I <3 HK

(Warning:  this entry is gonna be a tad word heavy.  If I can get an XD memory card reader i’ll start posting up some pics and vids in future updates)

Hello everyone!  I’m in Hong Kong right now, a freakin half a world away!  It still hasn’t really hit me yet that I’m this far from home and that I’ll be here until Jan 17th.  Got so much time left!

Definitely not complaining though .  So far HK has been pretty nice…well before we get to HK let me talk a little about the flight here.  I literally spent a whole day trying to get over here.  we took short flight to Newark airport before taking the 16 hour non-stop flight over to HK.  Surprisingly, the flight was not bad at all.  I brought all this reading material, my ipod, a sudoku book and borrowed my bro’s nintendo ds to occupy my time, and I would say I spent maybe….an hour or 2 using them while on the flight!  Why?  I spent the majority of the time watching my personal monitor that allows me to watch movies, tv shows, listen to music and play videogames preprogrammed.  Needless to say I was in heaven haha.  If they had thrown in internet access I would probably never want to leave that flight haha…well then again, sleeping wasnt very fun (I still have a neckache from the flight urgh).

Anyways, I got to HK around 8pm last night, but didn’t go out until today.  What did I do?  Eat and shop.  A LOT of eating and shopping  .  My goodness, I went to two dim sum restaurants within 2 hours haha.  I did some christmas gift shopping as well for some friends back home; hope they will like it.  I got some sweet deals mwahahaha!

So what do I think so far?  Well to be honest, it doesn’t feel TOO different from a city in the US (well, besides the obvious stuff).  I was afraid i would have a huge language barrier, but I pretty much understand mostly what everyone is saying, and I can communicate the essentials at the very least.  I’m sure I’ll get much better at canto by the time I leave.

Oh yea…there are sooo many beautiful girls!  Haha…not saying that I don’t see them in the U.S. or around UMBC (there are definitely a bunch of dopplegangers of UMBC folks I’ve noticed already), but I’m just not use to seeing them in such…quantity heh.  Well now you know I’ll never be bored walking around HK

I’m pretty pooped from all the walking today, so I’ll write more later.  If you want me to write about anything specific just let me know

The next time I write in this thing I’ll jot down some interesting differences between HK and the US that I’ve noticed so far (and hopefully post up some pics and vids!)

p.s. don’t be too surprise if I come back married  .  I seriously don’t even know if I’m kidding about that or not.
