  • Mid-Atlantic Sectional Tournament!

    Here’s some quick stats:
7pm:  what time we were suppose to leave for VA
11pm:  what time we actually finally headed out there
Over 100 miles:  about the distance away from Fredericksburg, VA
6 hours:  about how long we stayed at the hotel the first night
6:45am:  what time we had to wake up the next day for the tournament
5th place:  the place we got out of 9 school (so right in the middle; not too bad)
Best Maryland school:  when you consider that all the team that are ahead of us are from VA
Grace, Niezle, Anokhi, random people walking by Kevin’s dorm:  Just some of the people we desperately try to get to replace Crystal’s (our second girl) spot
2 days:  how long we stayed in VA
6/10:  the number of people that were originally on the roster that was there at the tournament (counting “divya” )
2:  the number of teams we beat:  John Hopkins and Mary Washington
0:  the number of games I lost haha (technically I only played the one mixed match where Tiffany and I won 6-0)

This weekend was such a blast!  I had so much fun and I wish i could just do that again in the near future!

First I want to say thanks to Lisa and Niezle for taking me out for dinner for my b-day.  Much appreciation

    Friday
night was a crazy night.  We needed 2 girls minimum to participate
in the tournament and our second girl, Crystal, canceled on us
literally at the last minute.  So here we are scrambling to find a
girl and after much stress we got Tiffany’s sister Joy to play.
There’s more to the story but I can just tell you guys that personally
    heh.

So after driving what felt like everywhere in MD we finally
headed to VA.  Got there pretty late and fell asleep quickly to
    prepare for the tournament.

    Mid-Atlantic Tournament

    We
played tennis from 9am-7pm on Saturday and then some more tennis on
Sunday from 10am-1pm.  It was so much fun…words can even express
how good it felt down there.  Tiffany and Jeff were our MVPs for
sure; definitely wouldnt have gotten the results we got if it wasnt for
    them!

We lost to University of Virgina and William and Mary but
we beat John Hopkins and Mary Washington.  Beating John Hopkins
was extremely satisfying, since last time they sorta beat us in an
exhibition.  Win or lost, all the teams were great and were really
    nice.

    Tracy Austin was
at the tournament too!  for those who don’t know, she was a famous
tennis player in the 80s and won the US Open at the young age of
    16.  Pretty cool meeting a celebrity .

Alright here are some pictures.  You can see the rest here:  http://umbc.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2008319&l=3488a&id=15200041
